Having lived in The USA & traveled there widely, with our American friends, we teased them continually about using the word "bathroom" when they actually meant "toilet/water closet/shit house etc." ps. Melbourne is The Australian Rules Capital (no, not Rugby, or Soccer or NRL) BUT our own Game "AFL" founded in Melb at the MCG in1852 before any other sport on earth was 'codiefied' {had the rules of play written/published}. The MCG (Melbourne Cricket Ground -holds 100,000 fans called barrackers also here, & was designed as a Winter sport to keep Crickers fit in the off-season 'cos Cricket is the national summer Game. There are 18 AFL sides/team across Aussie, & Richmond (a Melb Inner-Suburb) Tigers are current Premiers (Champions) with a membership exceeding 100 thousand of paided-up fans. Google AFL for the rest. (pps. AFL= Australian Football League and is the best game in the World !!!!

the govt has finally going to bother to extend the train tracks to the airport they said they were going to do in the 70's. That means less taxis etc to get into the CBD. useless info for you i realise, but none the less about time for a lot of travellers to tullamarine.
An old story I was told. In World War II, a American sailor was on leave in Townsville. After going to the pubs, and nightclubs, he went shopping. He bought a ring for his wife, and couldn't believe how much it cost. Presented himself to the cops saying, "Arrest me me. I'm stealing from you".
In the description I put the day this was filmed - on our 1 year world trip in 2018 - still editing after losing footage (70+ days) and spending over a year to recover/recreated it 😊 Glad we didn’t lose the Australian footage 😁 we aren’t currently traveling 🌍
Here's a tip to earn a free coffee/drink in Australia. Bet any new comer if they can tear up any Australian bank note with their hands, if they can't they owe you a drink. Easy win! P.s. They are not made out of paper ;)

Oh, I forgot to mention Australia Zoo, about 3-miles North of Brisbane. In the 80's, a guy named Steve Irwin established it and, via TV exposure in the US, enticed some of us to visit. It was/is a family affair, with Trudy (I forgot her name) from San Diego, the wife who kept the books, and Bindi, the first kid. Then Steve was killed by a poisonous skate and we all thought she'd pack it up and come back. But no, 20-years later, there she was, and Bindi flowered . Today, the zoo still runs, with the Irwin clan in charge.
John Leach Um that’s all completely false. Steve’s parents Bob and Lyn Irwin in 1970 created the zoo. Terri is Steve’s wife and Steve was actually killed by a stingray barb to the chest. Please don’t spread misinformation.
Melbourne is better than Colorado. Better foods, better souveniers...better weather, better transportation, better goverment road, many light on the governent road. If buy foods, we dont more for tip or tax. Because tax is included in the food price.. Colorado is very cold than snowy, poor light on the road, old transportation.
It’s hard to compare those 2 places! The weather that day reminded me of a fall day in Colorado. Colorado Springs where we lived receives 300+ days of sunshine a year, so when it does snow, it melts the next day because the sun is so strong and you can have warm days in the middle of winter 😍 Also the mountains in Colorado are stunning! ⛰ We did love the public transportation and culture of Melbourne 😍 Both places are amazing for their own reasons 🤩
Hmmm... from what I can make of it they got here 15th April 2020 - right in the middle of the WuFlu epidemic. Then went straight into Melbourne and started shopping, getting on buses, etc. No wonder Victoria has a problem with WuFlu! BTW... the city's name is pronounced, MEL - B'n.
The text below the video says they were here in 2018 and have taken a long time to put up some of their vids because of a hard drive crash. So quit it with the COVID crap 🙄
Bahahahahahahaha dude back in April, melbourne didnt have many cases. Its only flared up in the last couple of weeks. You seriously blaming 2 youtubers for a massive spike in cases? 😂😂😂😂
You said the $2 coin being smaller than the $1 coin does not make sense. 😂. At least we don’t have pennies. Our minimum coin is five cent piece. everything is rounded off. Pennies are a waste and especially one dollar bills. How stupid is it to have $1 in a note form.
I agree with you on the Pennies. We should get rid of those. It costs more to produce than they are actually worth and our country loses money each year making Pennies🙈 I don’t agree with you though on the dollar bill 😂 it’s probably though just because that’s what I’m used to. I think $1 coins are weird. I like being able to have small bills - less weight and great when go to garage sales - people selling their unused stuff at their house. And kids get SO excited when they earn a $1 bill
So happy you loved our country. Hope you come back some time. I'm biased, but Australia is just the best to raise a family. Good luck with all your adventures.

Here’s the link: www.google.com/travel/hotels/stargate%20apartments%20melbourne/entity/CgsIuO3R5YW8temxARAB?g2lb=2502548%2C4258168%2C4306835%2C4317915%2C4322823%2C4328159%2C4330862%2C4358982%2C4371334%2C4395848%2C4401769%2C4403882%2C4412669%2C4413451%2C4414390%2C4416581%2C4417924%2C4421968%2C4270859%2C4284970%2C4412692&hl=en&gl=us&un=1&q=stargate%20apartments%20melbourne&rp=ELjt0eWFvLXpsQE4AkAASAHAAQI&ictx=1&hrf=IgNVU0QqFgoHCOQPEAkYARIHCOQPEAkYAhgBKAA
Happy Hoppe Thanks for that! I think I may have a card that has membership rewards to their brand!
Still remember when the $2 coin came out, and smaller that the $1. We also thought is weird!
😂 ok good, not just me :) it makes sense that they need to be different sizes, but you’d think it’d be bigger!
5,10,20 & 50 cent coins grow. 1984- $1. &1988-$2. Shrink.
Heyyyyy Australia! HAHAHA 3:42 made me laugh. Great that you came to Sydney, it's the nicest looking city I believe.
No all Australian cities are attractive.
Hello from Melbourne
I’m an Aussie but in America you actually have to pay money to get in a bathroom?
Kinda not fair tbh you don’t have to pay it in Australia
No, not in America, but in other countries we visited in Europe
Free trams are only the ones circling the cbd. The dark red ones. The others you need a card.
Should gotta practice saying that Melbourne ,,,, 😂😂😂
🤦♀️ I know right?!? 😂 I apologize to all my Australian viewers for my lack of correct pronunciation 🤣😆🤣
@@HappyHoppe Easier to pronounce it like an Aussie if you just imagine it's spelt Melbin.
@@Preema24 there’s no reason to pronounce it like an Aussie though, unless you’re trying to do an impression of an accent. I agree that saying “Mel-born” sounds bad but “Mel-burn” is acceptable.
@@chumkrimson8161 Was just a friendly suggestion... thanks for your input?
😆 that’s funny you bring up AFL, because when we stayed with an Australian couple, they were sure to let us know the rules of AFL 🤪 you can see the video of that :)
@@HappyHoppe thanks for that. I'll watch :-) :-)
Went through Quarantine.
2018 is when they came.
I'm not even like having a go or anything but istg every muscle in my body tensed up in cringe at that mel-born
What part of Europe are you from ???
We are American 🇺🇸 Colorado is where we lived when we did this one year world trip in 2017-2018 😊 We now live in Indiana
@@HappyHoppe nice ,
Would you like to know why the $2 is smaller than the $1 ?
Do you know there is a pandemic here in Australia as well as the US?????
This was filmed in March 2018 dude
It’s pronounced Ustralia not Ostralia. And it’s also Melben not Melborn
the govt has finally going to bother to extend the train tracks to the airport they said they were going to do in the 70's. That means less taxis etc to get into the CBD. useless info for you i realise, but none the less about time for a lot of travellers to tullamarine.
Go to Brisbane next time. The climate is better and less changeable.
We went to Brisbane too!! Really liked Brisbane 😁
Would have been cheaper to fly to Perth from Bali.
Love Melbourne, but only when Daniel Andrews isnt there. 🇦🇺
at 9:18 you walked past the best Bockwurst stand in Melbourne.
An old story I was told. In World War II, a American sailor was on leave in Townsville. After going to the pubs, and nightclubs, he went shopping. He bought a ring for his wife, and couldn't believe how much it cost. Presented himself to the cops saying, "Arrest me me. I'm stealing from you".
how did you get into australia when our borders are closed!!!!!!
In the description I put the day this was filmed - on our 1 year world trip in 2018 - still editing after losing footage (70+ days) and spending over a year to recover/recreated it 😊 Glad we didn’t lose the Australian footage 😁
we aren’t currently traveling 🌍
7:30 welcome to your first coffee in AU..... glad you realized what kind of piss weak coffee you get in US
😂 🤣 I guess I’m used to the weak stuff 🤷♀️
@@HappyHoppe btw.... you knew that 4/5 in the cup was milk right?
You realize that we have there good coffee in the us
Jeez! Dream a bit bigger Love.
It was my 10 year old dream 😜 Happy we got to travel to 62 countries in a year over 2017-2018 😍
The hotel is not beautiful at all. Are there nicer hotels?
Here's a tip to earn a free coffee/drink in Australia. Bet any new comer if they can tear up any Australian bank note with their hands, if they can't they owe you a drink. Easy win! P.s. They are not made out of paper ;)
In Melbourne they call it street art. In Sydney we call it vandalism.
Wait, you don't have hot cross buns??
I’m sure some bakery sells them, but they aren’t very common. I only knew them because of the kids song 😂
This was like 20 or so days out from the first lockdown. Wow! How much has life changed for our city 🌃 which is making me tearing up right now too 😢☹️
We actually were there in March 2018 - way before lockdown :) still editing daily videos from our 1 year world trip to 62 countries 😊 Happy I can still travel virtually through editing 🌍 ❤️
Happy Hoppe oh ok 👍🏻 I thought it was 2020. Well yes! It’s your memories that you can rewatch over and over again and to remember the good ol’ days of travelling freely as (especially Melbourne) we can’t do so freely now 😔 hopefully we’ll get back to some sense of normalcy soon.
Bali is almost like the next door neighbor, for Australians its nothing.
should have been cheaper through bali to perth
Wow pretty awesome huh, how is the covid there in oz pretty cool aye!
Grace Preston Read the damn description! Filmed nearly two years ago ya numpty!
This is a bit of a downer. Hope you’ve lightened up a bit since this video.
Bali to Darwin would have been even cheaper.
so are free trams considered socialism in seppoland? or is it only socialism when it isnt convenient for conservatives?
asking for a friend
We did love the public transportation and culture of Melbourne 😍
Both places are amazing for their own reasons 🤩
There are places that you have to pay to use the bathroom? Surely these places reek of urine.
Yeah, it’s very common in Europe and some places in SE Asia!
In Germany you pay .Sooner sits and collects the money but they clean the public toilets.Neeed a coin.Think 1 euro not sure.
Don't say os-tralia say straya
Melboooorne lol
It’s pronounced Mel-Ben not Mel-Born lol
Double standard, the "one dollar is bigger than the two, that doesn't make sense". Your five cents is bigger than the ten, please explain.
:D
Hmmmm Melbourne, whatever.🤣🤣
That third-world country remark is so disrespectful and obnoxious. These Americans.
Hmmm... from what I can make of it they got here 15th April 2020 - right in the middle of the WuFlu epidemic.
Rick, brilliant detective work, apart from the day, the month and the year. Is your nickname “Sherlock”, by any chance?
Mel BUN. Pronounced like hamburger bun.
mal-born, wtf?
Drug addicts.
It costs more to produce than they are actually worth and our country loses money each year making Pennies🙈
I don’t agree with you though on the dollar bill 😂 it’s probably though just because that’s what I’m used to. I think $1 coins are weird. I like being able to have small bills - less weight and great when go to garage sales - people selling their unused stuff at their house. And kids get SO excited when they earn a $1 bill
