The roos love the golf courses because there is an endless supply of green shoots, shade & water. It's a kind of symbiotic relationship with humans too, golfers are interested in the game, not them, so it's like a resort to them. Yep the big one is the Daddy 🤣

Actually those guys on the golf course are Eastern Grey Wallabys. There are four main species kangaroos and quite a lot of sub-species. Also, there are over 100 Taco bell stores in Australia so not sure what the 'first' thing was all about.
I love sharing Kangaroos and Koalas with my American friends for the first time! 😂 The reactions are priceless!! Glad you guys got to enjoy meeting an Aussie icon!! Keep it up!!
Colloquial pronunciation of Australian capitals, Brisbun, Sidnee, Melbun, Hobart, Adelaid, Perth, Darwin or maybe a bit like Darwun . Then there are hundreds of places in Australia with Aboriginal names like, Oodnadatta, Waddamanna, Moodiarrup, Gnowangerup, Woomargamah, of course if you don't live in those places even Australians can bugger up their pronunciation.
That Taco Bell location is the second iteration in Aus. Original Taco Bell failed in Aus over 20 years ago. At one stage they literally shared external restaurant space with KFC! Kinda weird driving past split KFC/Taco Bell restaurants. I remember those as a young teen!
yep, 80's and 2000's this is the 3rd go. this time its run by Collins Food Group (they own a lot of KFC and Sizzlers) , and not run by Pepsi/Taco Bell US like in the past
What a fabulous project! A year-long trip around the world. I had an international sales job for a couple of years and I got to travel through Asia and Europe. That travel was the best thing for improving my tolerance for things in my home country Australia No matter how annoying things might be back home, travel teaches us that despite everything home is still pretty good You two have such a positive attitude to everything. And as another commenter has said we should call Lisa COVID- her excitement after almost a year of seeing new things daily is infectious. How could anyone have a bad day with her around? Thank you so much
Yeah, travel definitely opens your eyes and makes home that much better :) we sure were thankful to take a year to travel!! There were some days when I wasn’t as energetic, but for the most part, I was definitely energized by seeing new places and trying new foods and meeting new people 💕 🌍
Fun fact: that was the very first Taco Bell in Australia. When it opened in 2016 or 17, people were flying from interstate just to eat there, and for a good 6 months you couldn't get in the door without lining up around the block
Yay for Brissie!! So glad you guys enjoyed our little "country town" No better place on earth to live! You are welcome back anytime! Loving all your videos. QUEENSLANDER!!!

That was NOT the first Taco Bell in Australia. they have been in Austalia twice, once in the 80's and again in 2000 and left a couple of years later, this is the 3rd time (2019ish) to come to Australia, and that would the first store of the latest attempt.

Kangaroos vastly outnumber humans in Australia (2 kangaroos for every person) but koalas are pretty hard to come by in the wild since they're functionally extinct from a lot of areas, I've only ever seen a handful in the wild in my life.
That might be the case where you're from, but I live in Victoria and they are still alive and well in many state/national parks and in between. I've seen and heard hundreds in the wild, at least 10 in the past 6 months, so they're still around it just depends on where you live and how much time you've spent in the bush. I agree they're functionally extinct in many areas as well, at the moment they and so many native animals/plants are on the decline it's a real shame.
To be honest when we first arrived in Australia we expected to see lots of snakes and spiders but we have only seen about half a dozen snakes in over 12 years and only about half were poisonous, seen a fair few red-back spiders but they really aren't that bad. So pleased you got to see Kangaroos in the wild, beautiful animal. Sorry you aren't in Queensland longer as we live in a really beautiful state with lots to see.......
Don't turn your lights off with an approaching kangaroo. They're like most wildlife, they're a bit unpredictable when caught in the headlights. Just slow down. Watch if they're on the side of a road. Sometimes they'll dash across the road instead of heading in the opposite direction
Roos are OK I suppose but they can be pretty chewy if you don't know how to cook them. One recipe calls for boiling them all day in a pot with an old boot and then you throw the Roo away and eat the old boot.
if you had of gone to a wildlife park you would've been able to pet and feed some kangaroos and get some selfies with them. the roos at wildlife parks are chill and used to people.
The road fences are so needed. Unfortunately, kangas are really dumb with road sense. I've seen more road kill than in the wild. I love overseas extremely enthusiasm with kangas and koalas (not bears). It's kinda cute! ;-)
@@HappyHoppe Some areas get so overpopulated with koalas that they start killing the trees, so are easy to find and see, but normally it's hard even for locals to see koalas in the wild even if they are common in the area. During the day they're usually asleep way up on the top of tall trees, and because they snuggle up to the trunk and are grey, you could be looking right at one and still not see it. They are also quite specific about what trees they feed from, so unless you know what trees they like in a particular area, you can waste your time looking up at the wrong trees. The best views I've had of koalas is when I've taken a spotlight out at night where koalas are common with lots of their favourite trees. Visitors like you might be best off and save some time by ringing up some national park rangers who would know the best places to look in the local area.
