One of the BTA! devs here. Enjoyed the video and I'm glad you enjoyed the mod! Btw those green rocks (olivine) are renewable blast furnace fuel. @@sino_diogenes I think they were more inspired by the "Better Than Wolves", rather than to make a direct comparison, but what you said is unfortunately true.
@@sino_diogenesAdventure is beta 1.8 and release 1.0, hardly modern at this point. I'd say this mod pretty easily succeeds at being better than those versions and has a comparable amount of updates to b1.7.
Totally fair! Glad you came in to clarify. I love the work the teams doin and Ive genuinely enjoyed every second of your mod! I feel like the only reason I compared it was because of its name. It kinda invites that sort of discussion. Keep up the great work guys, youre killin it! (Also enjoy the pinned comment!)
Moderator for BTA! here, the name 'Better Than Adventure' is actually a reference to 'Better Than Wolves', an old mod. It's not named for being better than the adventure update.

2:21 I remember Dinnerbone actually teasing colored wood planks in 2013 I always thought it would have been cool but I guess they’re slowly implementing the planks in different forms instead
I kind of prefer different colored wood being tyed to different trees as it gives those trees practical uses and reasons to seek them out. Seriously it alleviates so much headache while not simplifying exploration like elytras do) Anyway I vote Gregtech because that other guy said it's pain lol

@@therealbottomdwellerI don't comment much but fuck I should've comment how goofy your character moved in the last video; good vid about vintage story btw
This might be a shot in the dark but a mod pack my friends and I have been enjoying is Abyssal Ascent Its whole gimmick is that you start 2000 blocks below the surface with the goal of making it to the surface, and between you is 12 different dimensions that provides new challenges and progression opportunities for you as you slowly ascend. I think it is a very unique take of making a more linear experience while still maintaining that core sandbox feel of Minecraft. It also has built in proximity chat, shaders, and multiplayer hosting without a server.
I can sort of understand how different colored woods would encourage players to go out and search for new biomes and interact with the new features to get it, but sometimes I just want to get the white wood without loading all the chunks near my base(s) and ruining my world's potential to last for a significant amount of time.
I feel like they're not mutually exclusive. Spruce, birch, jungle and mangrove, for example, aren't available as dye colors. Painted wood could be limited to more simple colors and a more basic texture, a la concrete, while natural woods can have more intricate colors. This is actually pretty much how woodwork is in real life, so it could totally work.
I'm a very avid player of BTA. Over 2 years, 1200+ days, 60+ episodes, into my world. When I started the world, I didn't know how much this mod would change my life. Thanks to it, my love for Minecraft was reinvigorated, and so was my TH-cam channel. I've spent the majority of the last 2+ years playing it.
If people are already complaining about how colores wood is only a reskin of old wood, I'm really sure adding colored woods with only make this worst because now they are going to say Minecraft is already lack on ideas, and besides what's the special in only planks recolor, atleast the color types woods from have someting unike, line the texture with little texture chances, the differents doors and trapdoors, the Nether woods being resistance to fire and generated in fungus, or even the Bamboo Boat, and for the last reason, this kill part of the exploration, if you can chance the color of the wood, why are you going to another biome?, the biomes are places to explore for more blocks to build, if you can have that blocks already, why you are going to search one?
while there are some stuff that genuinley sounds great (i usually build my houses with the wood of the biome im building in) id still prefer what minecraft is now. while there is merit in a lonley world, there is just as much merit in minecraft having a lively world. i love how alive minecraft feels nowadays, and a big factor that helped me realise this is alan beckers animation vs minecraft series, and the bedrock tetris mod. without those, i wouldnt be playing minecraft that much. also please talk about the tetris mods (yes both of them) they are genuinley cool and i love them both. and that animated series, that series is pure cinema and im not even joking.
Ay, nothin wrong with liking modern! The empty world just feels cozier to me for some reason. Ill take your suggestions and give em a look! If I like em Ill add them to my vote list :). Thanks for watchin!
@@therealbottomdweller, they planned to add painted wood types, but decided to scrap it during development after realizing it they would need to make versions of every wooden block in all the dye colors. Also side note have thought about looking into the Cursed Walking modpack. It's pretty different from what you have reviewed before but I think it would be interesting if get your opinion on it.
Terrafirmacraft will be familiar to you since you've previously played with vintagestory. I really do love how it complicates the surviving aspect of the game so much. Overcoming the odds and thriving despite everything has always been my favorite aspect of watching through people's playthroughs, and terrafirmacraft adds that "man vs. nature" aspect I've enjoyed from when minecraft was such an unknowable and mysterious game back in the day.
As a mod pack creator I sympathize with those who just turn off the end, it's a pain to design content around and it's just a terrible thing for the game in general
Ayy it’s finally here! One of my friends introduced this mod to me, and I completely agree with the idea of it being the “2 week phase” killer, I’ve been having a great time with this mod ever since I first played it, and I’m really glad to see that you’re also a fan. As for the pack I think you should play next, I’m interested to see you review terrafirmacraft next, but I’d also love to see a tekxit review later down the line. Great vid as always!
Thanks for the kind words! This mod is genuinely a comfort mod for when Im taking a break now, so im glad everyone enjoys it too! Your vote for TFC has been noted, Thank ya for watching!
9:10 I'd say a mod that avoids this issue very well is Green Jab's "Fixed" mod (available on Modrinth). It's a mod that aims to fix (duh) modern Minecraft by rebalancing and tweaking many items and features while also deleting almost nothing from the game. I find it pretty underrated and well designed Also my vote is Gregtech because I'm really curious how you'll go about reviewing it lol
Terrafirmacraft!! That one has seemed the most interesting to me personally, also!!!! I had a completely different idea on what Better than adventure actually was so I actually sat it out on playing it,, but now that i like actually know what it's all about I'm probably gonna give it a shot!!!! I chose reindev over BTA which I dont REALLY regret doing, since reindev is a really great mod and I love the things that it does (Cobblestone bricks...) Also rest in piece Reminiscence review.... maybe one day 💔💔💔💔💔
Dyed wood will discourage adding meaningful trees If there were dyed wood, The addition of pale oak, crimson and warped, or cherry would be pretty underwhelming It's a method to encourage more exploration and biome diversity
i honestly do thing most of those additions are underwhelming anyways. Aside from nether biomes, all of overworld biomes are just boring bloat. On the other hand, azeala doesn't have their own wood, which is stupid, because this one is actually unique
I think you can still add trees with different colors of wood and new biomes even if there was a dying option. Just means you have a direct source now. Plus biomes are aesthetically pleasing, so theyd still have value.
I think it's possible to have both. Players who want to explore will do so anyway and will be rewarded by such. Players who just want cool colored wood will get it fast if they want to. Nobody loses.
everyone is saying that gregtech is pain, so my vote is 100% going there lol also, since we're in the topic of mods that are their own modpacks, i can't help but also recommend better than wolves
Yayyyyy ! I am so happy you made a video about this ! And- OH MY GOD IS THAT FREDDY FAZBEAR TWERKING IN THE BACKGROUND ??? Anddd i vote terrafirmacraft because now that you have played vintage story ( just bought it it's a blast thank you ), i think it'll be interesting to see your opinion on it considering VS is very inspired by it...
@@harmonica_gaming8741 alr cool. I myself have never seen a comment that was obviously ai generated. I just thought it looked a bit blank relative to your other ones
I think the reason it's a "two week phase killer" is because you put in stuff that you'd personally want in the game and actually playing the game how you want to play it instead of how other people told you to play it I personally love modern Minecraft, and I don't get that "two week phase" thing that everyone else is saying they get, but I don't think it's not a problem. I think it is more of the fact people are not playing it how they actually want to play Minecraft, and instead are playing it how they see others play it or how others tell them to play it, like I said from the top of the comment I am glad you're not like "Well I think this game is much better and Minecraft is boring and modern Minecraft features are crap and bad now", you're actually putting this in a way that makes it more of personal opinion, and not a fact of the matter. Great job on the video, and I love the editing ^^
I can back up your point in the 2nd paragraph from my own experience, cause more often than not, I always, w/o fail, try to optimize my world, via watching tutorials. Doing this causes a lot of boredom, and thats what prompts me to just stop playing.
Thanks for your kind words and for watching! I think its important that everything I say is treated as opinion and not fact. Im one dude on the internet, so I cant speak for everyone. Glad youre enjoying modern more, and I hope to see ya again!
@ Yeah def just going to find tutorials and doing that over and over and also just doing the same stuff over an over will burn you out and just mka you wanna quit cause you feel like there is nothing left to do I used to be in a rut with all of that for anything I did, including Minecraft a lil bit
Terrafirmacraft is really good! I’d also add some addons though, TFC Civilization is the best one but ArborFirmaCraft, TerraFirmaLife, The Caelum Mod and its addon that bridges the gap between it and tfc (TFC caelum) and Beneath are also must haves for me.
This might be the first vanilla+ type mod i might check out. I've like hearing about them but most see too "not vanilla" still. This one seems so back in the past that its trying to be it's own thing. Less of trying to make new minecraft and more of minecraft in a parallel world. Also your animations for your model look a lot better, keep it up.
You wont believe how much of a pain in the ass it was to set the new animation system up lol. Glad you like it! I highly recommend this mod, and if you try it I hope you likey!
I think dyed wood should be color-coded like old wools, while tree variants provide more rustic default color and maybe plank pattern difference. (for example, bamboo planks.)
The issue I have with BTA is that they don't have client-side predictions on multiplayer, which means multiplayer feels laggy because the game needs to reach out to the server and hear back before anything happens on the screen. I had a small server I intended to play on with friends and this made fighting mobs and mining so unenjoyable that we had to stop after a few days...
@therealbottomdweller I haven't seen anything related to it, but I may have just missed it That was in 7.2_01 and 7.3 is about to release maybe this or next week :( So in the meantime I am just playing Vintage Story hehe
I have 800 hours in Gregtech: New Horizons. Its quest book is so good that the deciding factor for if I'll play another pack is if it even has a quest book, and if so does it even approach the level of detail and integration of GTNH's.
u should check out reindev. its another mod for beta minecraft but this one is based on the indev versions of the game and the weird experimental features they had. its probably the biggest mod for beta other than bta
I like all the things this adds, but my problem is that its beta, I am a post adventure player, barely so, but I am, first getting Minecraft literally 2 months after adventure came out, but this means my entire minecraft life has existed in an era after the end and sprinting and hunger and to not have those things just isn't minecraft for me
Totally understandable! Its very much a moment of different eras clashing. I started literally before the compass and nether were added, so my views a lil skewed.
Good luck on gregtech!! The progression will feel slow until you look back and see how far you've come because every single step of gregtech has a clear, in-your-face goal of what to do next and it's honestly quite fun, especially working with friends
If they ever added dyed wood to minecraft then they wouldn't have any reason to keep making oak reskins and calling em ''new'' The Pale garden would've been even less of an update if you could already dye wood white IMO
@@therealbottomdweller yeah tbh it would give em a reason to make unique wood textures like they did bamboo, but I feel like by this point it'd be so much work to add wood dyes considering they'd have over a decade of different wood variants to reskin, either that or make an armor trim kind of situation where every wood's original color impacts the way dye changes it's color but that amount of work is NOT being put in by mojang, not anymore at least
People are suggesting terrafirmacraft, but honestly it'd be way more interesting to just go all out and do a Vintage Story episode. I've played with friends and... I kinda don't even need minecraft anymore. There's a new update soon too!!
Banger vids loved it! and also i vote for TFC (TerraFirmaCraft) that's one of the mods i have the most fun with in recent time like, on a TFC modpack in 2 week w/friend we have like 50/60hrs of playtime lmao
I'm gonna vote for TerraFirmaCraft, or TFC as most of the community calls it, which I figure you're probably aware of but I'll mention it anyway, as supposedly it's what inspired vintage story, and I think you'd enjoy it
Voting for StoneBlock 3 Happy I watched this video. I've always been anti-"beta supremacy", and while having problems with modern Minecraft's undercooked and unconnected new features, I believe that modern is a better game. Seeing you address my problem with modern in a few videos, and seeing that the devs aren't actually trying to make a modded version better than modern, rather a fun alternative with a title that references better than wolves, has helped me appreciate this mod and the devs who work on it. Definitely going to play it soon!
Fun fact, if I remember right, Terrafirmacraft was actually what Vintage Story originally was. I may have my info wrong, but if I understand it right, it started out as that mod, but after a while the dev wasn't able to do what he wanted to do in minecraft's limitations, so he made his own game of it instead. Again, sorry if this is false info, I'm just saying what I myself was told.
2:15 because with the vanilla wood system, that would ruin the purpose of new tree/wood types and new biomes. like if they added dyed wood, you’d have no reason to explore your world for a cherry grove or pale garden. and people ALREADY complain there’s no reason to go to a pale garden specifically. also, like you said, we already have a TON of those colored blocks with the same 16 colors for like 15 years. with the vanilla system, there will always be room for more interesting in-between type of colors (birch, between yellow and white)(but also most of them currently) AND the 16 bright ones (cherry, warped, pale oak) i would like the chest variants from bta though, those are sick
TFC heavily inspired the development of Vintage Story, so I think to that end Gregtech would be something more unique to cover first. Good luck soldier o7
In all honesty, I'd really like to see a look at TerraFirmaCraft. TFC was one of those mods/packs that initially always put me off because "eugh, realism, complicated mechanics, nyeh...." But the more I played it, the more I genuinely came to enjoy its mechanics, especially more so with friends. And considering I recently saw those Vintage Story videos (and considering VS was inspired by TerraFirma to begin with!), I think it'd be nice to take a look at over "GTNH haha boring grind pain and suffering." Stoneblock 3 was definitely interesting, but I never did get to play through it a whole lot. That being said, TFC does have some VERY glaring flaws that are a real pain in the ass without other mods to alleviate those issues. Looking at you, fire clay production. Fuck finding kaolin clay, fuck finding graphite. That tends to be the part that ends up making or breaking a lot of people's playthroughs. It can take actual hours if not days of exploration to find, especially if you're on foot.
i love this mod, you should make a video about Better Than Wolves too ps: oh sh... i personally dont like the second option, i've heard very good things about the 3rd option, but i just want to say something; gregtech new horizons (i love the quests of this mod)
2:28 It's padding the updates, you can't add a new tree to the game if people never needed it in the first place, Terracotta & Concrete got painted versions out the gate since farming it is crafting recipes
There's a couple of mobs with skin variation in normal minecraft, horses, villagers, and axolotls. I'm probably missing one or two but you get the point
Honestly this one does feel better compared to the better then Minecraft modpack the side options is just something Minecraft needs cause there isn’t any choices in new play throughs it’s just the same progression every time
I've also tried Better Than Adventure. And I would say it isn't better than Beta or better than modern Minecraft. It just an alternative Minecraft branch. I defiantly called it its own version of Minecraft, not just a mod. There is some stuff I like about better than adventure, some stuff I dislike (such as the complicity of having so many different stone types and etc), it has refreshing ideas and it is very fun. But just like Beta isn't better than modern Minecraft (I don't think it is far to look at it that way), it just another experience. At least that is my opinion. In my mind, modern Minecraft, beta and better than adventure is different games. Just like how I can like multiple games with there different aspects, is the exact same way I feel here.
The amount of updates this mod gets always has me coming back. It's what got me back into Minecraft survival and I love all of the new content! I can't wait to see where it's headed. Steel tools forever!
I know it's probably out of the voting options, but for me the 2 week phase killer was TerraFirmaGreg, it's kind of a mixture of TerraFirmaCraft and Gregtech and a bunch of other mods, but it mostly revolves around those two. Maybe give it a shot if you have some spare time or have nothing to record about!
it would be so funny if you have to do gtnh some small tips if it gets voted, speedrun healing axe, make sure to set a reasonable goal and don't burn yourself out with the pack
i know nothing about any of this, but cool video! i really should try minecraft one of these days. the one with the longest name is probably the funniest option, so i vote for greg tech new horizons lmao.
I used PNGTuber+, and then had to use an audio mixer to route audio from audacity into microphone input. Then I used the stream deck mobile app to manually time when my character would change poses according to the line being said. I make it sound simple but getting it setup and working the way I wanted was a bastard.
Seeing you play greg tech new horizons would be wild. It's the sort of modpack you can't view as something to just get the end of. The whole journey is a collosal logistics challenge and if you like that sort of thing then you will LOVE gtnh but otherwise its horrible.
maybe this is unhinged, but i hope someone mods something of an open RPG experience into BTA lol. no specific end goal still, just if that rpg progression system of minecraft wasnt horribly half baked and unfocused. i feel that specifically in the context of BTA it would help create an experience that is "for everyone", because the BTA team already created a wonderful beta experience. if the world is already such a good canvas, i can easily imagine that aspect of it being kept in tact even if a completely divorced RPG-esque system were placed on top of it. so long as that system were conscious of the foundation its building upon. and yeah, theres the issue that eventually youll run out of content, but maybe there can be ways to make the game more challenging, forcing you to protect or maintain things you previously didn't need to, or generally throwing more complex enemies your way that require you to prepare defenses against regularly. basically something like terraria's hardmode, where its totally opt-in to shift gears into an experience more suited to the adventurous, challenge-seeking, externally motivated player. of course i still think having more places to explore, lore to theorize on, and interesting foes to conquer can still be present "pre-hardmode", they just wouldn't get in your face about it and ambush an unsuspecting sandbox style player. heck, maybe it doesnt need to be as binary as a single hardmode switch, and there's just multiple places you can find that'll introduce new challenges to the gameplay loop, existing purely to be resisted against or conquered by the player, should they accept the challenge. and i feel i can really let my mind run wild with ideas specifically because of the simplicity of beta and how well polished of an experience BTA is, as opposed to trying to make this work with all of modern minecraft's feature bloat. but maybe all of this is crazy talk, and it would be better off as its own mod for beta minecraft lol
oh man i just had a thought. what if the key for triggering a new challenge in regular gameplay is a reward item, specifically something that sandbox players wouldnt care for or need. like some kind of dash with invincibility frames, and suddenly monsters have smarter AI, more interesting approach strategies and telegraphed attacks to make use of your new ability. that way its like, you trade away your more relaxed gameplay loop in favor of an upgrade that would have trivialized that gameplay loop to begin with, and thus makes things more difficult in such a way that specifically reacts to whatever your upgrade was. depending on how broad the challenges get, you could theoretically even create a path to whatever style of play a person could want. like if you never wanna run out of places to conquer, and dont care about your world falling apart, there could be like, dungeons invading from another dimension or something. i could persobally imagine myself scrambling trying to repair the world and undo the scars left behind by what ever malignant force that seeks to desecrate these peaceful lands! something like that may carry too many consequences for most externally motivated players, and thats the beauty of having it be optional to trigger, among many other options to tune the gameplay loop tp their interests. though at that point i wonder if itd be better to just stick all this in a settings menu during world creation lmao
Huh, I never really cared for older versions, just something about the lighting and fog throw me off, even going back to 1.7.10 for old technic packs was rough, but honestly this is a super interesting mod. Its exciting to see people putting their own spin on older versions and I hope some of that creativity comes to inform features for more modern versions. Sidenote, DYED WOOD IS GENIUS AND I'M SAD DYED CHESTS ARENT IN THE MODERN GAME, I'm sick and tired of pretending to be excited because a new hex color of wood is added that just is going to have more variant items in the already bloated pool. As for the vote, Terrafirmacraft. I played AutoTFC recently and ADORED it. TFC is a beautiful mod that makes the best out of its premise and somehow someway still feels and plays like minecraft while simultaneously changing nearly everything about the world and player, top tier. Also good luck if you get GTNH, which I am assuming will be likely, Godspeed.
Honestly the fog and empty world brings quite the relaxing atmosphere for me. It feels like home compared to modern imo. I agree, give us dyed wood and chests mojang! Your votes been heard, and thanks for watchin!
Terrafirmacraft is interesting, and fun to play. but not really fun to watch someone else play... Greg tech is, yk gregtech. And i feel like a lot of people would enjoy watching you play it. But not everyone. While as for stone block 3. I think a broader audience would like to watch you play it. But that's just my opinion tho (I should clarify that my vote goes to stone block 3. As I just noticed it wasn't really that clear)
Also. I know you probably won't even give it a thought (given it's not even one of the 3 you mentioned) I would like to recommend a mod called "better than wolves" much like better than adventure (in name and premise) it is built off beta Minecraft. But it's vastly different to better than adventure. As it revamps the whole game (making it MANY times harder) and I also think it is very entertaining to watch
I also love the backstory as to why it's called "better than wolves". It was basically in the old days of Minecraft. when notch released a new update every week or so. And one of those updates took very long to release and pretty much just added wolves (when most updates at that time added tons of blocks, content, biomes, etc). So the creator of better than wolves got mad that notch took too long to deliver too little and decided to make something 'better than wolves'
Man, I really like the idea behind this modpack. Really makes me annoyed at the current state of how the game's development is handled. And for the vote, kinda hoping gregtech wins cause I'm curious about what you'll think, but a bit worried it might be too much since its a *really* complex modpack xD Oh well, good luck if it does!
im sorry but making so the player has to eat 2 types of food constantly to heal faster is not fixing how HP/hunger works, it just makes it more annoying, i had also seen some backlash to the healing overhaul because of those changes and how they brought HP regen back into the game also fully agree with mojang's actual problem being lack of focus while trying to appeal to everyone, its what people say 'when trying to please everyone, you please nobody'
Totally fair criticisms! I can see what you mean regarding the hp regen being problematic. I personally don't mind it, but to each their own! Glad you agree on Modern's lack of design focus, sometimes I think im the only one who thinks that lmao. Thank you for watching, hope to see ya again!

This might be a shot in the dark but a mod pack my friends and I have been enjoying is Abyssal Ascent
Its whole gimmick is that you start 2000 blocks below the surface with the goal of making it to the surface, and between you is 12 different dimensions that provides new challenges and progression opportunities for you as you slowly ascend. I think it is a very unique take of making a more linear experience while still maintaining that core sandbox feel of Minecraft. It also has built in proximity chat, shaders, and multiplayer hosting without a server.
I kinda like having wood be dependent on what tree types their are
Eh to each their own!
In all honesty, I would rather prefer it to be like different texture of wood instead of
Me too, it gives more reason to explore the world, which, for me, is a very fundamental aspect of Minecraft

If people are already complaining about how colores wood is only a reskin of old wood, I'm really sure adding colored woods with only make this worst because now they are going to say Minecraft is already lack on ideas, and besides what's the special in only planks recolor, atleast the color types woods from have someting unike, line the texture with little texture chances, the differents doors and trapdoors, the Nether woods being resistance to fire and generated in fungus, or even the Bamboo Boat, and for the last reason, this kill part of the exploration, if you can chance the color of the wood, why are you going to another biome?, the biomes are places to explore for more blocks to build, if you can have that blocks already, why you are going to search one?
true
while there are some stuff that genuinley sounds great (i usually build my houses with the wood of the biome im building in) id still prefer what minecraft is now.
while there is merit in a lonley world, there is just as much merit in minecraft having a lively world. i love how alive minecraft feels nowadays, and a big factor that helped me realise this is alan beckers animation vs minecraft series, and the bedrock tetris mod. without those, i wouldnt be playing minecraft that much.
also please talk about the tetris mods (yes both of them) they are genuinley cool and i love them both.
and that animated series, that series is pure cinema and im not even joking.
Ay, nothin wrong with liking modern! The empty world just feels cozier to me for some reason. Ill take your suggestions and give em a look! If I like em Ill add them to my vote list :). Thanks for watchin!
@@therealbottomdweller youre welcome sir. if youre planning on playing the MC Tetris dungeon crawler world multiplayer, i could play with you.
funfact: minecraft has put dying wood on their "never gonna happen" list of things
All the more reason for me to be mad
Isn't pale wood kinda like dying wood?
Edit: nevermind I'm stupid lol
They are slowly but surely adding all wood colors.
@@Wedge_Khan Which theyre doing currently with the new trees. Honestly wild.
I prefer renaming everything in the end to something else. It's just a void dimension, but getting "THE END" out of our heads is hard.
I hear the Greg, I choose the Greg.
Gregtech New Horizons is goated
9:10 I'd say a mod that avoids this issue very well is Green Jab's "Fixed" mod (available on Modrinth). It's a mod that aims to fix (duh) modern Minecraft by rebalancing and tweaking many items and features while also deleting almost nothing from the game. I find it pretty underrated and well designed
Also my vote is Gregtech because I'm really curious how you'll go about reviewing it lol
Terrafirmacraft!! That one has seemed the most interesting to me personally, also!!!! I had a completely different idea on what Better than adventure actually was so I actually sat it out on playing it,, but now that i like actually know what it's all about I'm probably gonna give it a shot!!!! I chose reindev over BTA which I dont REALLY regret doing, since reindev is a really great mod and I love the things that it does (Cobblestone bricks...)
Also rest in piece Reminiscence review.... maybe one day 💔💔💔💔💔
Dyed wood will discourage adding meaningful trees
If there were dyed wood, The addition of pale oak, crimson and warped, or cherry would be pretty underwhelming
It's a method to encourage more exploration and biome diversity
i honestly do thing most of those additions are underwhelming anyways. Aside from nether biomes, all of overworld biomes are just boring bloat. On the other hand, azeala doesn't have their own wood, which is stupid, because this one is actually unique
yea bad take ngl
I think you can still add trees with different colors of wood and new biomes even if there was a dying option. Just means you have a direct source now. Plus biomes are aesthetically pleasing, so theyd still have value.
You can still make the trees unique. I think BTA has added cocoa trees for example. The wood it gives isn't the only thing unique bout the damn trees
I think it's possible to have both. Players who want to explore will do so anyway and will be rewarded by such. Players who just want cool colored wood will get it fast if they want to. Nobody loses.
everyone is saying that gregtech is pain, so my vote is 100% going there lol
also, since we're in the topic of mods that are their own modpacks, i can't help but also recommend better than wolves
Thanks for ya vote, ill give BTW a look!
Yayyyyy ! I am so happy you made a video about this ! And- OH MY GOD IS THAT FREDDY FAZBEAR TWERKING IN THE BACKGROUND ???
Anddd i vote terrafirmacraft because now that you have played vintage story ( just bought it it's a blast thank you ), i think it'll be interesting to see your opinion on it considering VS is very inspired by it...
noooononono vs isn't at all, vintage story started out as another mc mod vintagecraft
Thanks for ya vote! And yes that is specifically one frame from that meme of freddy throwing it back. Animatronics do get a lil quirky at night!
"I'm not your mom" Well why is that? Why can't you be my mom Dweller? Are you scared?
Not experienced enough
Was this an ai automated response?
@@Michael.Nietzsche.Macucows Nah I typed that out. Ai gen responses are usually not as blunt :)
@@harmonica_gaming8741 alr cool. I myself have never seen a comment that was obviously ai generated. I just thought it looked a bit blank relative to your other ones
I think the reason it's a "two week phase killer" is because you put in stuff that you'd personally want in the game and actually playing the game how you want to play it instead of how other people told you to play it
I personally love modern Minecraft, and I don't get that "two week phase" thing that everyone else is saying they get, but I don't think it's not a problem. I think it is more of the fact people are not playing it how they actually want to play Minecraft, and instead are playing it how they see others play it or how others tell them to play it, like I said from the top of the comment
I am glad you're not like "Well I think this game is much better and Minecraft is boring and modern Minecraft features are crap and bad now", you're actually putting this in a way that makes it more of personal opinion, and not a fact of the matter.
@ Yeah def just going to find tutorials and doing that over and over and also just doing the same stuff over an over will burn you out and just mka you wanna quit cause you feel like there is nothing left to do
I used to be in a rut with all of that for anything I did, including Minecraft a lil bit
@ Np. I hope to see more of your content ^^
I absolutely love this modpack. Glad you covered it
casting my vote for stone block 3, can't really think of much else to say lmao
There's a mod made by the same people than made Vintage Story called Vintage Craft.
0:38 awesome. My friend Vivian making an appearance.
You should try crucial 2 for a (fairly) modern vanilla+ pack
I wish to see terrafirmacraft, I have not ever seen it before
I think dyed wood should be color-coded like old wools, while tree variants provide more rustic default color and maybe plank pattern difference.
Really? Thats wild! Wonder if they ever fixed that.
@therealbottomdweller I haven't seen anything related to it, but I may have just missed it
That was in 7.2_01 and 7.3 is about to release maybe this or next week :(
So in the meantime I am just playing Vintage Story hehe
I have 800 hours in Gregtech: New Horizons. Its quest book is so good that the deciding factor for if I'll play another pack is if it even has a quest book, and if so does it even approach the level of detail and integration of GTNH's.
You have forced my hand here, but you must commit to the greg
u should check out reindev. its another mod for beta minecraft but this one is based on the indev versions of the game and the weird experimental features they had. its probably the biggest mod for beta other than bta
Lately it's making itself a little complicated but still very good.
It may be getting a lil complicated but how it plays has still remained pretty simple for me.
Good luck on gregtech!! The progression will feel slow until you look back and see how far you've come because every single step of gregtech has a clear, in-your-face goal of what to do next and it's honestly quite fun, especially working with friends
i think that a modpack with alex caves would be fun im playing with a custome modpack
If they ever added dyed wood to minecraft then they wouldn't have any reason to keep making oak reskins and calling em ''new''
The Pale garden would've been even less of an update if you could already dye wood white IMO
Giving wood colors through trees on top of being able to dye them is actually fine imo. As long as the biome is actually interesting.
So youre not gonna believe this…
Want to see Stoneblock 3!
Stained glass would be useless... Spawners deactivated after like 20-25 "waves" so no grind
Watching this video made me want to try this mod out lol also i would love to see a terrafirmacraft video keep up the good work
Greg tech horizons good luck :)
Banger vids loved it! and also i vote for TFC (TerraFirmaCraft) that's one of the mods i have the most fun with in recent time like, on a TFC modpack in 2 week w/friend we have like 50/60hrs of playtime lmao
Glad ya enjoyed it! I'll tally your vote, and I hope to see you again!
5:41 You're walking on air? /jk
P.S. - I feel your channel is doing great and I really appreciate your content and character!
Thank ya for the kind words! Gravity is a myth btw.
You should test create above and beyond.
It would be really, really funny to see you try Better Than Wolves.
Bro offered up the option of 2 packs that would require 200+hours of playtime (at LEAST) or a modern ATM rework… good luck my friend
Watch me speed run this shit lol!
@ wait actually there should be a gregtech speedrun community. someone please tell me there is a face-meltingly-grindy-modpack speedrun community.
I'm gonna vote for TerraFirmaCraft, or TFC as most of the community calls it, which I figure you're probably aware of but I'll mention it anyway, as supposedly it's what inspired vintage story, and I think you'd enjoy it
Voting for StoneBlock 3
Happy I watched this video.
Gregtech. Also another cool modpack: Minecraft Enhanced
The Vintage Story devs made Vintage craft, not TFC.
Totally ok! I can clarify. VS was INSPIRED by TFC. :) The devs of VS didn't directly work on TFC in any capacity.
Terrafirmacraft! It’s actually what vintage story is based off of, so I think you’d like it a lot.
Greg tech... just to see you suffer because all viewers are a lil sadistic
Roger that!
gregtech new horizons LOL
Greg Tech New Horizons, genuinely a good modpack but as we all know it’s grinds as hell
2:15 because with the vanilla wood system, that would ruin the purpose of new tree/wood types and new biomes. like if they added dyed wood, you’d have no reason to explore your world for a cherry grove or pale garden. and people ALREADY complain there’s no reason to go to a pale garden specifically. also, like you said, we already have a TON of those colored blocks with the same 16 colors for like 15 years. with the vanilla system, there will always be room for more interesting in-between type of colors (birch, between yellow and white)(but also most of them currently) AND the 16 bright ones (cherry, warped, pale oak) i would like the chest variants from bta though, those are sick
gregteck, sorry to hear your life for the next three months is gone
TFC heavily inspired the development of Vintage Story, so I think to that end Gregtech would be something more unique to cover first. Good luck soldier o7
A CRAFTER OF SORTS?! 🗣🔥
Sidegrades is definetly something minecraft needs.
Without a doubt! It would vary up gameplay in so many ways!
It can take actual hours if not days of exploration to find, especially if you're on foot.
i love this mod, you should make a video about Better Than Wolves too
ps: oh sh... i personally dont like the second option, i've heard very good things about the 3rd option, but i just want to say something; gregtech new horizons (i love the quests of this mod)
A better than wolves video would be amazing
Vote taken! BTW is on the vote list now for a future vote. Thanks for watchin!
A couple, but the fact that we are JUST NOW getting pigs is kinda crazy. You'd think cows and chickens would also get some sort of variant.
Honestly this one does feel better compared to the better then Minecraft modpack the side options is just something Minecraft needs cause there isn’t any choices in new play throughs it’s just the same progression every time
Sidegrades would add so much flavor to vanilla if we got them.
@ probably won’t happen but maybe notch’s Minecraft2 will have that
@@Flasq01 didnt this get canned?
@@therealbottomdweller I have no idea haven’t heard much about it
I've also tried Better Than Adventure.
Its genuinely cool how quality its updates have been! I love seeing what theyre cookin.
Snowman!
Same. BTA reinvigorated my love for Minecraft, and my channel.
Also- love them steel tools.
unrelated to the topic of the video, but i really like the way ur avatar moves, i've never seen it done like that before
Ay I appreciate that you enjoyed it! Its the main reason the video was late. Lol
Stoneblock 3
Love those sorta skyblock/skyblock adjacent packs
I would love to see the options on Greg tech
GTNH is so grindy i don't think it would make a good video.
LET THE SUFFERING BEGIN!
GTNH is crazy but hey I love that you put that on there GL i was stuck for two weeks trying to make a water bucket no joke. GregTech all the way!
it would be so funny if you have to do gtnh
some small tips if it gets voted, speedrun healing axe, make sure to set a reasonable goal and don't burn yourself out with the pack
Watch me burn out right now! Jk, dually noted and your tips help!
i know nothing about any of this, but cool video! i really should try minecraft one of these days. the one with the longest name is probably the funniest option, so i vote for greg tech new horizons lmao.
Unrelated but how did you do the avatar movement, cuz it looks really cool!
Btw voting for Gregtech
I used PNGTuber+, and then had to use an audio mixer to route audio from audacity into microphone input. Then I used the stream deck mobile app to manually time when my character would change poses according to the line being said. I make it sound simple but getting it setup and working the way I wanted was a bastard.
@@therealbottomdweller Thanks dude! keep up the great work!

what if i combined the first and third choice and told you there was a, no, SEVERAL terrafimagreg modpacks
Im aware, its on the future vote list but rn I'm doing each individually. :)
good luck with gregtech new horizons~
Minecraft Prepare to Die edition
Definitely unhinged! But I bet theres an audience out there somewhere for this lol
oh man i just had a thought. what if the key for triggering a new challenge in regular gameplay is a reward item, specifically something that sandbox players wouldnt care for or need. like some kind of dash with invincibility frames, and suddenly monsters have smarter AI, more interesting approach strategies and telegraphed attacks to make use of your new ability.
that way its like, you trade away your more relaxed gameplay loop in favor of an upgrade that would have trivialized that gameplay loop to begin with, and thus makes things more difficult in such a way that specifically reacts to whatever your upgrade was.
depending on how broad the challenges get, you could theoretically even create a path to whatever style of play a person could want. like if you never wanna run out of places to conquer, and dont care about your world falling apart, there could be like, dungeons invading from another dimension or something. i could persobally imagine myself scrambling trying to repair the world and undo the scars left behind by what ever malignant force that seeks to desecrate these peaceful lands!
something like that may carry too many consequences for most externally motivated players, and thats the beauty of having it be optional to trigger, among many other options to tune the gameplay loop tp their interests.
though at that point i wonder if itd be better to just stick all this in a settings menu during world creation lmao
9:10 When you blow up you're going to be remembered for these iconic phrases you created! I was here! I was here! 😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁
"URM. 🤓🤓🤓🤓☝️☝️☝️ URM WHAT THE SIGMA?!"
Urm, what the heck? Wait hold on.
Great video as always! a lot of the comments are saying Gregtech will be painful, get crack-a-lackin blocky man lol
Aye aye capn
Man, I really like the idea behind this modpack. Really makes me annoyed at the current state of how the game's development is handled.
And for the vote, kinda hoping gregtech wins cause I'm curious about what you'll think, but a bit worried it might be too much since its a *really* complex modpack xD
Oh well, good luck if it does!
Worst case scenario the review for it comes in february and I make other videos until im done lol.
Gregtech New Horizons ! omg yesss
TFC 100%.
(I might be a bit biased because i like Vintage Story)
TFC!! I adore Terrafirmacraft, I'd love to see you cover it.
I LOVE BTA!!! It's so fun and it feels so whole and complete
Genuinely a banger mod!
im sorry but making so the player has to eat 2 types of food constantly to heal faster is not fixing how HP/hunger works, it just makes it more annoying, i had also seen some backlash to the healing overhaul because of those changes and how they brought HP regen back into the game
also fully agree with mojang's actual problem being lack of focus while trying to appeal to everyone, its what people say 'when trying to please everyone, you please nobody'
Totally fair criticisms! I can see what you mean regarding the hp regen being problematic. I personally don't mind it, but to each their own! Glad you agree on Modern's lack of design focus, sometimes I think im the only one who thinks that lmao. Thank you for watching, hope to see ya again!
Nice video! Thanks for making it.
Thank you for watchin!
I'm voting terrafirmacraft since I'm curious what you think of it when compared to vintage story.
