    This thing is currently my grail. Mostly because it's got this harmonious quality that makes it aesthetically pleasing, plus because while it is NOT a kiridashi, it kinda goes into a kiridashi direction and I'm a sucker for that. My main fixie is a cheap Kubey Hippocam which is also a weird kiridashi-esque blade which I find very useful.

  • @pokitstuff
    @pokitstuff ปีที่แล้ว +2

    So I’m absolutely right handed but I absolutely agree with your opinions on the left handed issue. I also think that a filler tab just opens up more secondary fancy filler tabs. Like you find on many hinderer owners knives.

    I just got one. It locks up solid and there is no wiggle room from side to side, but has a tiny bit of movement from back to front. I can feel it move slightly when I place my thumb on the back of the blade. I'm not really happy that.

  • @d4ngerd4d
    @d4ngerd4d ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I have one of these I bought directly from Tony Marfione himself at Blade Show Texas - definitely a bucket list experience. But mine doesn't flick open like the one in this video does. You have to pull the RAM-LOK to get it to move at all. Tony actually told me the same - it doesn't really flick open, you have to pull back the lock first then use the wrist. It is indeed very smooth when holding the lock open, but yeah, no way to flick it for sure. So I'm unsure how you're getting yours to flick like that. I've tried adjusting the pivot and oiling it and making sure I'm not touching the lock (as suggested in this video) and everything I can think of, but this knife just won't flick open. What's the secret? I love everything about this knife other than this one fact which is really bugging me.

    • @landontreinen3062
      @landontreinen3062 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      My guess would be he sold you an early prototype or something. If he told you himself it won’t flick open, I’m sure there’s nothing you can do to make that possible. I’m curious how much you purchased it for from him as it may be a custom… or it may be a display only piece they never intended to sell. If he sold it to you for cheaper than retail or much higher than retail I’d be willing to bet it’s one or the other.
      On the other hand, if the lock is just defective and it’s the same exact lock, you could theoretically buy another one and swap out the locks. Depending on how married you are to that particular knife, that might be your only option.

    Impacts can cause axis lock failure. Strike the base of the handle against a hard surface. If the force of impact is greater than the tension of the spring, the lock can fail.

    • @metal_complex
      @metal_complex  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      No one is arguing that.
      The lock can withstand a reasonable amount of force which is all anyone should ever experience when using the knife properly. Any additional force would be the result of abuse, or using your knife like an idiot.

    If this runs $300 and you expect titanium scales to bump it to $700, then Flytanium or Rockscale or someone is going to make an absolute killing churning out titanium scales for these, right? Considering the variety of aftermarket titanium scales you can get for under $120, that price jump seems unjustifiable.

    Congratulation's... now the clip has been changed to an even goofier one that looks much worse, but hey, it can be swapped to the other side, so now there is a cluttery filler with screw heads that stick up... we finally get rid of cluttery logos, so this makes up for that...

      In my opinion the deep carry clip both looks and functions better.

    Noooooooo, come on MC… the Ti manual Stitch if it comes out I think will be around $450-$500 leaning more towards the $500 mark and the CF one around the $450, you can’t more than double up
    The price just because of the Ti scales, usually Titanium scales add up $150-$200 to the base price of a knife!

      Well American made titanium probably yes..the machine time is triple or 4x the run time on the machine that plastic or carbon fiber..American workers get paid based on time not the material alone..while titanium does cost more but not much...again the increase in cost is not only based on materials....but time taken to produce...time is money...just my opinion....35 year in the trade...old school machinist ..

      @Knaftastic EDC completely agree! People bash on USA prices, but the value is there! I keep saying that I'd rather pay more and support my "neighbor" than send my money to another country just because it's cheaper! Support USA made items people! There's not many things left that are still 100% made in usa
