- Welcome to my channel! I’m happy you’re watching again. If you like this video please give it a thumbs up and if you havent already, please subscribe to my channel if you want to receive weekly art journal and painting inspiration. I am almost of the end of this art journal called ‘Home’. In this video I will be showing my pages that are partly created with Gelli prints. I will not just show you these pages, I will also show you some wonderful techniques for layering your pages.

Technique one: Collage from Gelli prints on silk paper
On the first page you can see how I created a collage spread with various gelli prints. I’ve printed those on Kraft paper, silk paper, cotton and simply on printing paper. This is the safe way to use gel prints in your art journal. In the demonstration I'll be showing you how to print on the thin silk paper, which is really exciting to do.
5 simple steps:
1. Apply some paint on the gelli plate, a palette is not necessary.
2. Divide the paint with an ink brayer… make sure you don’t use too much paint, also not too less.
3. Create texture with stamps or stencils or random items that provide texture.
4. Apply your piece of blank paper.
5. Press it gently and use a clean roller. Don’t push too hard as your texture will get lost.
Step 5: Remove your paper and tadaaaa! Wait until it’s dry and use it for a collage in your art journal.
Technique 2: Printing directly in your journal
On the following pages I was much braver with my gelli plate! On the left page of this spread I created a background directly in my art journal… I used overlapping patterns, by using the gelli plate several times. I added this circle later on the be the foreground, together with the circle of fabric with beads. I show you this technique in a short demonstration too. The difference is to pick up your Gelli print and print straight into the book.
Botanical gelli prints
Finally, I show you some other gelli prints in other art journals, mainly botanical prints. I adore using plants, flowers and other things out of nature to provide texture. If you’re thrilled about this, I have an online class about this.
In this class I teach you how to use elements out of nature as printing materials. Also you learn how to create your own templates and how to refine your gelli prints and create a wonderful series of botanical plants, leaves or flowers. The course consists of 24 video lessons plus 2 bonus lessons, one about what to do with your gelli print ‘failures’… You can get a discount for this course during the month of May by using the code in the description below. Hiiii thank you so much!
Great to see you working, lovely pages with gelli, especially the green ones with the mandala-like prints. Love it!!!
That mandala stencil was just brilliant. Next time you'll be joining us when we have a gelli print session!
Great video, great techniques! Thank you and have a lovely Sunday!
Thank you Isis, have a great Sunday too!
Absolutely beautiful book and so inspiring! Thank you so much!
Thank you for watching! Much love from the Netherlands!
Beautiful and inspiring! What type of sketchbook are you using? It looks so nice with the different types of pages ❤
Thank you very much Emma! I'm using the Ranger media journal here (Dina Wakley series), unfortunately they have stopped producing these, they only sell kraft paper journals now. Here's a link: amzn.to/3UNvGtS
Florida Space Coast fan 😊Ann good fun
Thank you so much Ann!! Lots of love from the Netherlands.
Thank you for sharing your gelli printing techniques! Will take a look at your course! 💯
Thank you so much for watching, I hope to see you in the classroom! :)
I love your work! Did you make the journal with the cloth, or did you add cloth to a ready made journal?
It is a journal with burlap and cotton inside... but... in this case I removed a 'failure' page and added the fabric/jeans page myself. So, maybe one of my next books will be completely hand made by me.
Thank you for watching the video.
Beautiful work.
Thank you so much!
👍👍👍💕💕💕🇩🇰
Thank you!!!
Superbe ton book 🥰👍
Merci beaucoup!
Ola Luz !!
Tu as très bien réussi tes exemples.
A bientôt, embrasse Marloes
What was that rolling tool you used to add texture in this video? Similar to tree rings?
I don't know what's the name of it... will look for you if I can find something. We found it in the house of Anthony's mum (my mother in law). It's for creating tree rings indeed.
First pull, way too much paint! Anything that is not sharp is to be used on a gel plate, there is no need to buy tools to make marks on it! We all use everyday objects, string, elastics, fabric, cardboard, plant materials etc.!
Thanks for the tips! I totally agree with you; daily life things are the best stamping materials. I never tried elastics! In this case, there was a student who brought some stencils to the tstudio that all of us used. It can be fun too, but is not necessary. Have you ever designed your own stencils? That's fun too!
@@luzartworks yes, I have made stencils with a glue gun on a silicone mat, then use them on the plate. I have used acrylic packaging plastic to cut masks, made texture plates by cutting craft foam or felt into shapes and glueing them onto blocks of cardboard or styrofoam packaging. The net bags that oranges come in are great, sponges, crumpled paper bags, waxed paper or aluminum foil will all make interesting textures for layering. It’s endless! That’s why it’s so addictive!
That sounds cool! I’ve been making them on carton or plastic folders.
