Catherine your videos are among the highest quality on TH-cam. Your selection of background music to fit the particular scene isn’t happening by accident. As a former photographer back in the days of film and large format photography I can say unequivocally that your work is the byproduct of your passion for photography and your love of nature. Carry on Catherine…you have the very best show on TH-cam. 🤠

I’m dating myself, but I remember when the Eastern Sierras were almost empty of “tourists”. Seems everyone went to Yosemite in the West. I’ve always loved Lone Pine, Bridgeport and the beautiful mountains and valley. Thanks for the video!

For my Dear Friend Catherine, This video was well worth the wait. 1 extra day and on a major holiday. Well, young lady, to say U have OUT DONE YOURSELF, would be an understatement. What wonderful new style video for you. Humans have loved a good story since they sat around the campfire. People, places and things. Before the spoken word there was the dance, acting out the stories. The story tellers were always revered by the elders and the peoples. What a wonderful trip down ur beloved Sierra's. Your very soul is as free as the wind while there. Ur photography as always kis breathe taking. Nice to C your old camper again. I deeply enjoyed 😉 your adventure this weekend and on the holiday. Thank your family for giving you time to film on their holiday weekend as well. In closing my long winded statement, l enjoyed your new video style very much, thank you. For u sweetie 🎉 I picked them myself. 😊

my family has ranches north of there, big ranches--Lone Pine is just a place next to some very nice mountains--all the LA people have ruined the place--women who move there and try to raise a family hate the place--when you just visit a place you know nothing--move there and find the real deal--you will move away just like everybody else

The Hitchhiker directed by Ida Lupino was shot there? Cool. Ida Lupino, a master of film noir, was excellent on both sides of the camera. In those days a female director was unheard of but she proved to be unstoppable and unique. The great Lupino family of actors and performers go back 300 years in the entertainment industry. She was the real thing. A powerhouse.

I've heard about the Alabama Hills before with pictures, but you out do them all. I can see why you love that area❤ so much. Have a wonderful safe week ahead 💕

Catherine! I saw the title of your video and my very first thought was BISHOP, CA! I was so close! But I’m right, too, as the Eastern Sierra is the most stunning place in CA. I’ve lived & traveled the entire state all my life (I’m 61) and with ocean views, lake views, desert views, Mountain View’s … Bishop (and now Lone Pine) are my top 3 views of all times. I’m sure the guests at the campgrounds include Bishop Mule Days participants & fans. And rightly so. Bishop Mule Days one of the best family events ever. I am glad to see so much snow on the the Sierras as we need that run-off to last. I also loved the music you played with your video. I enjoyed this content so much and appreciate all of the history of the area you included. Al the best, Laura ❤

Thank you for yet another wonderful video. My late father was raised in Lone Pine, was fiercely proud of the place and is interred in the cemetery north of town. He would have enjoyed this as much as, if not more than I. He and I climbed Mt. Whitney when I was nine. It was the best bonding moment we ever had. Again, thank you, Catherine.

Holy Cow….Alabama Hills is one of our favorite places! We had a near disaster, we planned to stay at Whitney Portal Campground with a 25’ Airstream! Fortunately, Carol’s Sister alerted us that the campground was closed. We stopped at the Visitor Center and confirmed…but we had no idea Whitney Portal was at the top! We would have been in so much trouble if we had gone up there with our Airstream and the Campground closed….there would have been anywhere to turn around! We learned a really big lesson…now I double check all campgrounds for access. Anyway, we love that area…

That is an amazing area! It seems almost every mile along the 395 is some sort of creek running down from the mountains. Aberdine was a favorite stopping place on our way home from Mono Lakes camping. Our tradition became my daughter would quickly catch and release a fish then we'd be on our way. I haven't been up that way in years and this video and format is a great way to bring back some awesome memories! Thank you! BTW don't forget "Gunga Din" was filmed in that area too!

Always happy to see my local stomping grounds through your eyes, Cat. I've never been to the Lone Pine Visitor's center. Looks like a cool place to visit! As you know, I'm a fisherman, so I usually gravitate to places with a lake nearby. I'm a fan of the town of Bishop. It's close to the high sierras, where I like to spend my Summer weekends out of the desert heat. Have you ever been to Kernville, and the upper Kern River? I'd like to see you do a video of that area. The Kern River Valley is an interesting place. Further North from Kernville is the Trail of 100 Giants, one of the premier groves of giant sequoias. The Kern River Valley is an easy one-hour drive from me, and another one of my favorite destinations. Excited to see what next week's video holds! Hopefully, you'll still be in the area.

Thanks for the trip down memory lane, used to live in Mammoth and Bishop. I'd probably still live in Mammoth except for those 60 feet of snow Winters, got old fast.
I remember that 2017 video of you camping in the Alabama Hills. I remember telling you we used to call them the Iron Hills from Lord of the Rings I guess and we hunted rattlesnakes for antivenin.

I loved this video, as its type gives me a clearer understanding of communities in the western US. I’m an east coaster and, while I’ve visited CA by plane, I’ve never had opportunity to road trip there.

Yes - a good idea, Catherine; the combination of a small town visit with a scenic area around, as an alternative some weeks to the longer backcountry hiking trips. Best wishes.

We have been camping in the eastern sierras for many years and I always enjoy stopping in Lone Pine. This fall when we head up the 395 I will insist that we stop at the museum, I’ve always wanted to go. Thank you for showing off this great little town!

I travel from LA to Tahoe many times each year, and whenever weather permits the 395 along the Eastern Sierra my favored route. Spent a huge amount of time in Lone Pine as a college Geology student, and it was great to see all our old hang-outs in your fantastic video. Great job!

I’ve hiked the Pacific Crest trail five times Mexico to Canada and Lone Pine is a must layover point for hikers. Great food, a fantastic hostel and campground friendly people and all the amenities a traveler needs.
