39:09 - 42:28 this is so nice to go back to after Jasmin finishing this year and with a bit of help from Jared himself who since 7 years ago really wanted a woman to finish.
I met Jared on top of mt Whitney in the fall of 2014. It was about 11pm. I was the only one up there until He and another guy ran up. He said he had run a little over a marathon in death valley earlier that day. While the three of us hung out in the hut on the summit for a little while I kept asking him where I knew him from because he looked really familiar. I didn't realize it until a couple days later it was from a video my friend had shown me about the barkley race. Little did I know how much of a champion he is. He didn't mention any of his accomplishments although his friend hinted at it. Really nice guy.
+Tyler Ham I think Ethan said in a previous interview that he would let Laz review a final video product before it was released to maintain the integrity of the race. So any documentary video could take a while to be released. I'm looking forward to it though, if/when it happens.
For gluten-free stuff, both Whole Foods and Trader Joe's have stores just under an hour (one way) from Frozen Head. They're not next door, but not a bad drive. If you're flying into TYS (Knoxville) instead of BNA (Nashville), they're barely out of the way.

amazing video. I'm not really a runner but I'm fascinated by the Barkley and the runners. This is one of the best videos I've seen in a while.
I was so inspired by Jared's mental strategies. Can't wait to try them out in everyday life
Three time...finisher. *Finisher*. This man is ninja, and so under-the-radar. Magic.
After being enthralled with the '17 Barkley Marathons I am so happy that I watched this incredible interview. BRAVO!!!
I was today years old when I found out Gary Robbins and ginger runner weren’t the same person
Did I hear this correctly....Jared's first race was a 50 miler??? Complete badass.

what a GREAT Show....I love Gary also.....Hope he gets 5 laps next year. Keep up the good work...it will be hard to top this show.
Gary was spot on about both John Kelly finishing and them spending four loops together.
That was really special......so much inspiration
Please update the podcast so I can listen to this awesomness on my way to work! 😊
Best opening lines ever! Seriously! XD
Incredible interview Thank you for the content
Great show! This is why I love ultra running/runners.
These guys are so awesome... Would love to meet them both sometimes....
Thank you for this enlightening interview! Are you making a race documentary to share as well? Would love to see some in camp footage

enjoying every minute!!!
Q: why dont we hear more from and about Jared Campbell? 3 x finish BM! Legend!
Like a tough mudder... classic! This trumps the 24 hour worlds toughest mudder too. Two completely different worlds.
+Mike Trask Yeah, this is NOTHING like a tough mudder, haha. Not even the Agoge 60 compares. No question.

Great show! cant wait to get into ultras, great hearing from the elites.. :D
Another great episode
I would be interested in how the deal with feet swelling beeing for so long on the move...
how do I get to run the barkley?
Reed is definitely the star of the interview.
Legendary!!!!!!!!
this can be compared with doctors who work sleepless nights in the ICU and Operation theater....!!
Just interested as to why the ginger runner says he can't contemplate all of this? As in ever doing the race. Why not?
No desire. I have no desire to be lost in the woods for days. That's not "fun" for me.
Fair enough. In that case I'm surprised at how into the race you are!
I can be a fan of something, be inspired by it and still not want to do it :)
Indeed you can!
first...
