It feels like that the NCAA doesn't capture much interest, especially for audiences outside the US. Mentioning records like the 500-yard events tends to lose people quickly.🤔 And the program Bob refers to is quite unfamiliar to many, even though it is understandably a significant source of funding.
Thank you, Luke Hobson, for taking down Biderman’s WR. I’m hopeful now that his 200 LC WR will also go (to Hobson). The problem with that record, of course, is that Biderman was in a banned suit, and Phelps wasn’t, but pushed him to go as fast as he did. Should I not be thinking that if Hobson can get the Biderman’s SCM WR, he can get the same guy’s LC WR?
Phelps was also in a supersuit for his 1:42.96 (still the American record) and swam in a suit that would still be considered illegal today when he lost to Biederman in 2009 (wasn't a polyurethane suit, but did extend past his knees and came up over his shoulders which is no longer allowed)
@@greggassen5548 Yes, but Biderman’s suit was both. Phelps was in a slower suit, would have won in an Arena suit, but was working for Speedo. Do you think Hobson will go < 1:42.00?

Whole different game, time will tell

Don't sleep on Popovici, he's the WJR holder in 1:42.97.
