The buzz lightyear series had a pretty good 4+ set too. The big yellow robot guy with the little barricade that Buzz and Alisha hide behind to shoot at it from. Was very impressed at the decently meticulous build all things considered. Random to bring up but I was sorting through my lego last night and found that set in a bag 😂
Super random thought: This line could serve as a narrative precursor to Galaxy Squad, with more primitive spacecraft and robots. Experimentation on volatile minerals combined with pest stowaways in crop greenhouses produces unforeseen consequences for the genome of a peaceful native species. That's neither here nor there. Great review.
I thought the same thing! The suits look extremely galaxy squad-like, but the setting feels right from Life on Mars because of the friendly aliens and Mars-style reddish brown landscape. Could also be a precursor to rock raiders aswell with all of the alien crystal harvesting. Maybe this is where that whole mining operation started
Anyone else find the smaller sets in this theme the best ones?? The little mech, interstellar spacecraft, 6 wheeled rover, and now this set blow it out of the park! The big 8 wheeled rover is cool, but a bit pricey. The space station and base on the other hand are kind of hit and miss for me, leaning heavily on the miss part for the space station
The ship looks like a great counterpart to the interstellar spaceship, and a bunch of great printed parts wow. Great review Thank-you Take care & hi from Canada
if you never own any space set and can only buy 1 set, this is the best deal!! u got a space ship, so many printed pieces, transparent printed screen, a crane, 2 rocks, 2 space minifig, 1 cute alien, and 5 crystals!!! Imagine how many MOCs u can create with the element of this set!!!!
This seems like a good way to make an even more advanced Interstellar ship because it has 2x the printed intakes. Loving all of these "New Space" set reviews.
It reminds me of something from StarCom, the old toy where the small figures had magnets on their feet. Bought this one and the slightly larger, sleeker one right away. They're fun, like the shaping and bring me joy.
It sounds dumb on the surface, but the idea is they know a 4 year old will mess up the sticker badly. And yeah, based on my sets from when I was a little kid it's a smart idea to have prints in the sets that are advertised to them lol
I am really looking forward to getting these 2024 Space sets. I really like the look of the ships and the minifigures, both the physically design, but also the colors. Thanks for the review.
rare to see a 4+ set that’s worth it’s price in play value and volume of stuff, and rarer still that that would be a city set too. it looks fun! i dont have room or budget for the bigger sets in this lineup, but this offers a couple of the new astronauts, an alien friend, and a bunch of those gorgeous purple crystals that my brain loves. it’s certainly on the list of things i want to pick up this year.
Big plus about this set is that it does not feel out of place with the rest of the theme. Except for the rather bare crane. The little outdoor base and the ship look perfectly fine with the rest of this line. And you actually get more stuff to haul which can be used with the bigger set. If you collect this subtheme you should definitely not leave this one out. It is far more than just a set of simply extra and rare parts. Which usually happens with the 4+ sets, where they give you exclusive printed parts and rare bricks. Like what they did with the farm set, fire set and the animal rescue set.
This is probably the key set that makes the entire City Space 2024 series hold together. It mines the crystals and has the unique console which uses the crystals to recharge the batteries. Without this set, you cannot recharge the batteries as part of play. This set is really a refuelling depot in disguise.
I heartily agree that the alien in this set is far superior to the ones in the other Space sets. Not only is it far cuter, more stable, and able to be attached to a LEGO base, but its biology seems more reasonable.
this is a really good deal for a 4+ set. Unrelated to the video, butLego price in my country is kinda funny. The official Lego store always sell their sets a little bit higher than the retail price because of tax, while other sellers sometimes sell them lower than the retail price. I recently got the new Lego police car for $5, the electric sport car for $7 and Jay's lightning jet evo for $8.
Just looking at it the ship is easily a $10 set and the 2 side builds are $5 each, already making the $20, and then you get minifigures, the alien and 3 of the crystals on top of that.
I love the idea as it's presented just on the box. That this is people working in an asteroid field mining and converting crystals. My inner child imagines them hopping from one asteroid to another, as if each tiny asteroid has at least Moon-like gravity. Maybe this is all on a ring around the planet the rest of the sets are based on. I loved space exploration as a kid, and this really tickles that old memory of playing with my classic space guys with my brother.
I love the 4+ sets for my son both because he loves he building pace AND they make great play toys after. Honestly this is a complete gem at this price.
This might be the first time in literal decades that I seek out a full line of non-IP sets for myself. So far I have built the smaller of the rovers (the Mass Effect looking one) and absolutely love this new take on the theme.
Interesting thing of note, this is the only set in the new city space line that doesn't come with a brick build robot drone. It does have the chubby alien though.
Hey Jang, thank you for the review. Please could you do a short side-by-side comparison between this and the interstellar spaceship. I get the impression there's more value in this 4+ set.
It's clearly not the strongest set of the wave, but it has a lot of value to it. The prints are great, worth getting at least 2-3 for the printed piece, crystals and the alien. The printed trans panel console is really good. This makes me question why we can't have all prints all the time.
Thanks for the review. The play value is off the charts with this set - ship, minifigs, alien friend, outpost, crane, boulders to move around, even crystals to "discover". Definitely something I'll keep in mind when shopping for my son!
That new LEGO "city" space-like sets are just so-so. Colour theme is too flashy. Look is not consistent. Functionality is limited. Nothing is really satisfying here. Definitely, only for kids...
Except the base of the spaceship, this set avoid massive juniorization of usual 4+ sets. But it's clearly the price of a 4+, when we think about the price/part number ratio. So I'll maybe buy it on the aftermarket around 10-15 euros in a couple of months. But honesty, I had to look in the Lego store to notice it was a 4+ set. It looks great., even better next to the larger spaceships.
I found a bunch of the last Space wave for half price last year. I bought the big domed moon base, the space station, and 3 of the Missions set. I think in total, it was 20 or 21 minifigs. I might scoop up 2 or 3 of this set and maybe 5 or 6 of the small mining mech. Thinking of using the crystals and the miners to make a large-scale Martian Mining MOC. Also, medium nougat with splashes of dark orange and dark tan make a very convincing Martian landscape.
This is a great value but it also highlights how Lego COULD choose to go this route for 4+ if they really wanted to. This kinda reveals that other 4+ sets are just overpriced for the sake of overprice. Otherwise, why would this set exist at its current pricepoint?
I was hugely pleased with how substantial the ship was for a 4+ set. really good. I may end up with multiple, for the figures and accessories to build out my space table.
When you compare this with the At-St 4+ build, the value seems incredible (and shows how overpriced that set was). It shows just how overpriced that set was, when it was almost double the price of this set.
Very nice little set here that compliments and goes with the other sets nicely. This ship can easily be seen to be in the same design family the Interstellar Spaceship, and the one included in the base. And hey, here's more things for that big crane to lift. ;)
The space theme just keeps getting better...BUT...my kids have very little interest in floating around a space station. We need a bad guy. Take the little green tentacle blobs that come in the sets and give them mech suits like Independence Day. Or...create a new meaner alien to be the baddies.
And is it me...or does it seem like the space theme has been evolving over past few years. Started with modern space shuttles and realistic concepts. Then headed to Mars designs. Then deeper space designs. Now we have deeper space and aliens. What will happen next year...? Hopefully Badguys and Pew Pews!
I was tempted to get it for the parts because I am trying to modify the rover to have a very small lab with a computer screen in the back compartment. I'll need to buy it soon, since the Jang reccommend it.
I laughed up a wee bit of the morning grapefruit juice through my nose when you said "Use yo hands!" It's been a minute since I've heard you utter that silly phrase 😂
Two nice minifigs, a ton of nice prints, and a bunch of those crystal pieces? Looks like an excellent parts pack to expand on the rest of this really strong line. I can see this working really well with the larger base set that had the space truck and crane. More things to move, more details to add to the interior instead of those big stickers. Good review as always.
I’m not that excited about the models, but the variety of parts here is great! A very cheap way to get the pats needed to build your own models in the style of this wave of space
Yeah honestly seeing this review settles my opinion on the new trans black, it's just way too dark. In a lot of lighting conditions it looks straight up matte
But 4+ sets are supposed to look stupid and be overpriced! Or... Something! This space wave keeps giving.
I honestly thought this thing was going to be at least $35 but for a 4 plus set it is amazingly priced

I recently built this and honestly aside from a couple of places I forgot it was a 4+ set, the build and value is fricking great!
This shows that 4+ don´t have to be an insane price. Which unfortunatly make the Star Wars/Marvel ones look like a even bigger scam.
5 crystals and 2 boulders plus some really nice prints... I wish the other sets in this theme were so generous!
This seems like a good way to make an even more advanced Interstellar ship because it has 2x the printed intakes. Loving all of these "New Space" set reviews.

Bought this one and the slightly larger, sleeker one right away. They're fun, like the shaping and bring me joy.
I like this chubby alien creature more than slim one from other city space sets.
So on 4+ you have all prints. And on 18+ ovepriced sets you have stickers….got it
Ikr, lego has a sick sense of humor
Find me a 4-year old who can properly place LEGO stickers. I'll wait 🤣
It sounds dumb on the surface, but the idea is they know a 4 year old will mess up the sticker badly. And yeah, based on my sets from when I was a little kid it's a smart idea to have prints in the sets that are advertised to them lol
Crystal battle pack

Insanely great $20 parts pack for space MOCs
Oh this is definitely getting used to expand the interstellar ship. Awesome set.
This is probably the key set that makes the entire City Space 2024 series hold together.
It mines the crystals and has the unique console which uses the crystals to recharge the batteries.
Without this set, you cannot recharge the batteries as part of play. This set is really a refuelling depot in disguise.
This alien gives me Rick and Morty vibes from the faceprint
This doesn't look like a 4+ set.
I couldn't tell this was a 4+ set until you told me. honestly solid for $20, i expected it to be $30
I heartily agree that the alien in this set is far superior to the ones in the other Space sets. Not only is it far cuter, more stable, and able to be attached to a LEGO base, but its biology seems more reasonable.
A whole this Space line for 2024 is actually quite a pleasant surprise for me 🙂👍
this is a really good deal for a 4+ set.

Okay, you've convinced me, that set will be in my next LEGO order.
For now, I'll play with my two Interstellar Spaceships and Space Explorer Rover.
I love the 4+ sets for my son both because he loves he building pace AND they make great play toys after.
Honestly this is a complete gem at this price.

You could put that dockingplate on the back of the ship and use it with the space station
Hey Jang, thank you for the review. Please could you do a short side-by-side comparison between this and the interstellar spaceship. I get the impression there's more value in this 4+ set.
And you get more bits to pick up with the crane from the base set.
That spaceship design reminds me of one of the smaller spaceship from Starcom cartoon

This 4+ set looks like it advertizes. A set that gets smaller children to be a fan of the smaller bricks
This is the only City Space set I bought. Got it a few days early at Target and picked it up the minute I saw it.
Thanks for the review. The play value is off the charts with this set - ship, minifigs, alien friend, outpost, crane, boulders to move around, even crystals to "discover". Definitely something I'll keep in mind when shopping for my son!

AH HA!
We see JANG's plans!
He's going to build a whole space armada!
It looks like a great addition or several to a vast display or diorama.
Except the base of the spaceship, this set avoid massive juniorization of usual 4+ sets. But it's clearly the price of a 4+, when we think about the price/part number ratio. So I'll maybe buy it on the aftermarket around 10-15 euros in a couple of months.

I wasn’t thinking of buying this but after this video I definitely will pick it up

I was hugely pleased with how substantial the ship was for a 4+ set. really good. I may end up with multiple, for the figures and accessories to build out my space table.
The Sets are really strong in bpth value and design/functions. I hope you can show us the Little Construct mech soon
Possibly one of the best 4+ sets
Fairly priced also, wow
Lego space is truly making lego better
cool set.. like insterstellar spaceship a bit more.. 😊
Bought two of these, love this set.
When you compare this with the At-St 4+ build, the value seems incredible (and shows how overpriced that set was). It shows just how overpriced that set was, when it was almost double the price of this set.
Finally, someone is giving this set it chance, it looks like a nice 4+ to grab for city space, once i get the chance, ill pick this set up.
I don't usually express interest in 4+ sets... I suppose this is gonna be an exception.
126 pieces in a 4+ set that's only $20?! Amazing it's not $30-$35.
honestly not bad as just a small accessory pack with the number of crystals, thats wild
This is the first time in a while I can say a Lego set is quality and good value as a toy. $20 is almost too reasonable
Thw ship looks like the Delta Flyer from Star Trek Voyager
For anyone that just wants some crystals, there's a polybag that has 2!
Honestly if I only had 20 dollars to spend on Lego right now I'd be getting this.
I just can't get over these satin trans violet crystals, god they're gorgeous
I hope these sets sell well enough that Lego takes note and brings back Space. I gotta do my part all the sets are so cool looking.
First in a while 4+ set that doesn't feel oversimplified.
Great 4+ set. Value is there and doesn't look too dumbed down.
This in Star Wars would have been 50 dollars
It fits with the rest of the line. Doesnt like childish. Wish they did the star wars 4+ line this way.
More pages of instructions than parts in the sets 😅🤦🏻♂️
I'm close to speechless. This is by far the best 4+ set.
It's literally the ship from Asteroids.
Couldn't agree more, it's the dark horse of the theme!
2024 Space just keeps winning!!
This is a great 4+ set all those prints. Yes please may I have another.
Reminds me of the escape pods from halo CE
More stuff to pick up than the large crane set 🤔
honestly one of the best 4+ offerings ever!
One of the decent sets for this theme
I might pick up 5 boxes
I'm going to buy it.
Very nice little set here that compliments and goes with the other sets nicely. This ship can easily be seen to be in the same design family the Interstellar Spaceship, and the one included in the base.
And hey, here's more things for that big crane to lift. ;)
What a great little set
The printed HUD part is pretty cool! Is it unique to this set?
No
With the exception of the $85 rover set, this theme has been a complete win for City. I absolutely cannot wait for the March Technic Space sets.
This set and the construction mech warrants multiple purchases, good for general pieces, crystals and stuff to build with.
This build feels fairly advanced as 4+ sets go. I'm honestly surprised it's not in the 5+ range.
Im definitely buying 2 of this small 4+ set and 2 of the Interstellar Spaceship sets. Can't wait to build 1 giant spaceship out of the 4 spaceships.
Sometimes just existing is nice and fun enough. Not everything needs a conflict and a bad guy.
My mom was already using the 10 cents/piece guideline in the 90's lol
I was tempted to get it for the parts because I am trying to modify the rover to have a very small lab with a computer screen in the back compartment.
I'll need to buy it soon, since the Jang reccommend it.
I laughed up a wee bit of the morning grapefruit juice through my nose when you said "Use yo hands!" It's been a minute since I've heard you utter that silly phrase 😂
Anyone else notice that this line of sets has a galaxy squad feel to them? It's like a non violent version of it.
I love the fact the aliens are just whimsical jellies instead of something super scary!
I will probably pick this one up the car vehicle base throws me off but the base doesn't look so bad
The alien 😍
Yeah honestly seeing this review settles my opinion on the new trans black, it's just way too dark. In a lot of lighting conditions it looks straight up matte
Starting to think these sets are the new 918, 924 and Explorer.
My gosh, this is a great value for a 4+ set! What happened?!
This looks like an awesome deal the price is good and the value males sense for 20$
I love this set, it's a great one.
Overall a really great set!
Pretty solid little set!
