As an adult who has to mostly pay for his own Legos now, I really value your reviews over other channels. You review a Lego set from an adult perspective and really show the value, or lack of value, in a set. With costs rising these days and so many other expenses and hobbies, your videos help me determine what sets to buy and which ones to avoid. Thank you for the consistent quality and honesty!

extra overhang on the upstairs floors is common in Europe, it was done to reduce land tax as the ground foot print only counted as the taxable dimension

$200 with 5-6 more figures seems a lot more right for this one… as someone that owns and really likes the Lion Knights Castle, I’m waiting for a discount. Lastly, I’d like to see smaller Castle theme sets… let’s hope for that in the future!

I love the Knights Castle and happily ate that price tag, but this set doesn’t do enough to get my purchase.

I was telling my partner that exact same thing! If this set was $199 as is, it’d be a day-1 purchase. That extra $40 on top of the set already lacking that “market bustling” vibe keeps me from immediately purchasing. I hope a discount hits this set sometime in the future.

I think the tree is meant to look like it's been coppiced. Coppicing was a very widespread practice in the Middle Ages (and still done today) to cut down a tree at the base and letting it grow back to get specific types or shapes of wood.

The Medieval Market Village from around 2008 was my white whale set as a kid, always out of reach and only able to look at it in the catalogs. So as an adult this is such a nostalgia trip and a tempting purchase to save up for.

Loved building this set, it has some fab details and additions for castle fans i.e. the return of the wolfpack plus showing other aspects of medieval living... and not just blacksmiths.
My only quibble is the use of stickers where I feel for the price point they should be printed especially the tapestry design and outdoor signage.
Also I agree that the roofs were slightly over engineered haha, a nice change from some of the more fiddly ones we've seen in the winter village sets as of late.

If they did split up these builds, I suppose you could also argue for making them about 3-4 studs bigger on atleast one side and adding more minifigs and side builds, and at that point you might be able to argue for an extra 10-15 bucks per build.
When you look at it all together, it feels like they took an entire wave of 5 variously sized builds and put it all in to one box instead of selling them as a series.

I found it strange how LEGO "censored" the old clothing of the maidens with an extra white under-blouse :) The house with the tower has only one door, so the painter goes through the inn with dipping paint all over? What is that big hole in the kitchen wall next to the tower? Why not place there a thin door instead of the logs? I bought it, built it, but I still find the old Medieval Town set better.

Some fun parts usages it looks like. Maybe I'm being greedy, but for the asking price, I think they should have included at least 3 more minifigs. Great review. I’m in the process of very slowly building it as a stress reliever. The build is so far quite enjoyable and I’m up to bag 10. This set looks good value on the surface, but we have to know that many of the 3300 pieces are very small 1x1 decorative pieces or small accessories. A bit expensive in my opinion, just compare it with the awesome Viking village. Of course, I think this one looks a little better, but I nearly paid double of that of the Viking village.

I think the yellow stuff in the barrel on the cart is supposed to represent honey? I could be wrong but that's what seems right to me

A cow doesn't make more sense! You never had goats cheese? It's delicious! ;)
Great review though... I'd have sold one of my kidneys for this set as a kid!

    3 points:
    a) content of the barrel could be honey... they keep the beehives close for a reason
    b) that (not)chess-board has 7x7 squares... should be 8x8... i maybe do my own sticker there... guess some lego sticker-designer is hiding form the set-designers of chess-sets for like the rest of his life
    c) i really like how they play with posters on the tree... most are takes on 3rd party printed tiles you could get out of china like the famos "missing goat" poster

The thing I look for in financial terms is 'can I make this work with my budget and collecting plans'. If I like a set, then its price per piece matters less to me. In two years I'll have to double check what I paid for it anyway.

Besides the noticeable sprue points and the many stickers, I particularly don't like the color gradients within the light bluish-gray parts. This not only looks bad but could mean that the parts will crack.
