    Great review. I agree that the pods should be a bit bigger or open up more to allow playing inside. The shuttle unit could be like a tug placing or removing the pods if needed. The 4 printed flag pieces can be attached to the dock unit. Then perhaps with some modification a stand could be created from the pod with the satellite dish

    This reminds me of the old mission control set 6456. It had the segmented shuttle. Cockpit, cargo bay, and the battery powered boosters. You could remove the cargo bay to have a short shuttle. Glad to see lego make a good return to space sets.

  • @SwiftpawWolffox

    Space Pod Train! I kinda feel like THAT would be the main play operation, using it for expeditions and such. The station ring is for storage/display. Love that they use the same modular connection system they used for the previous City Space and Aquatic themes, that's the kind of integrated compatibility I remember LEGO use to do a lot.
    Could probably modify a connection on the other end of the space-bike dock to make it like a flatbed if you have extra connections.
    Looking at the larger sets like this and the launch base I think the darker helmet/arms are meant to be higher ranking officers?

    I love the system behind that, but there are a few things I would like to see in maybe a second year of it or someone to customize this: a T- and X-module to add modules to the side, a module that is double the size of the ones in this set and more base/terrain builds. Maybe a factory that makes batteries out of the crystals or a bigger bio dome module.

    This series looks really good, and the more I see the new color the more I like it. 12 year old me would have gone bonkers over this whole module system. It'd be great fun to expand on it and build your own modules. I just wish Lego had a smaller set with 4 of those connector pieces available. Looks like they're only in the ~$100 sets so far.

    As a toy I think this is fine though the current angle of the modules to the ring doesn't really make sense - when it rotates things will be flung outwards. As an AFOL I wish they had made 8 double ended modules with a 45 degree connection piece so they could be connected in a ring without the round gear pieces. That ring they could have been the base for building a bigger space station.

    It's almost like someone needs to do a version 2 with slightly larger and longer modules, that can link on both sides, and 'hub pieces' that can link on 4 sides (or potentially 6 sides). They're almost there for a good modular space station with this one, just need a bit more time to bake I think. But the path is clear. (It's basically 'Kerbal Space Program' in Lego Form.)

    @Benjamin0119 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

    This is pretty great for the most part. Only things I could criticize are the transparent black being used and how cramped the modules are. They combine to make the modules dark and difficult to play in.
    Clear transparent pieces would make more sense, for minifigures to be able to see out and for us to he able to see in, and that's how it is on real space stations and spacecraft.
    It would make more sense for the minifigures to traverse the modules inside, than having to go through space. But, it is a toy. The space train configuration allows this feature at least.
    I believe the black and gold panels on the astronauts are meant to be smal solar panels.

    Happy to see it's not just me and my fat fingers complaining about the modules being a bit too small. Otherwise great set, love the modularity. I just wish they could have somehow made them open on both ends so you actually play with the combined ship train. Also these need a central module hub in order to make an awesome planetary station or a bigger ship. I can't wait to get a hold of 2 of these and tinker.

  • @nicklockk
    @nicklockk 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    So many things that bug me about this set. Why aren't the segments open on the sides if they put caps on the airlock pieces anyways? Why is this a ring module if none of the segments are oriented according to the artificial gravity? If they suggest the space train configuration, why is there not a single segment with more than two airlock pieces for the "dead end" segments? Why didn't they just attach one wall to the openable roof of the segment for easier access? It's not like they are using the interior space on every wall anyways, mostly one wall of each segment remains plain...

    Weirdly, the colors used for the minifigs remind me of the old Galaxy Squad teams. I could see a diorama where these new City Space sets are used as a "civillian" equivalent to the Galaxy Squad's more militarized branch.
