Thank you for the video. It was the reason I bought mine and spent almost all saturday modyfing it. :)
Nice landing gear mod. Also I might have to copy the bottom part of the main engine. :D I did add some space blasters on mine, because there are entirely too many dangerous 1990s aliens around here to be flying around unarmed. Plus, this set was designed with so many cool connection points for things to be added on... Also I totally agree: Lego is for creating. It's for taking what's been made, and making something new out of it. Also also, when I saw this set, I thought "I must have one." When I got one and built it, I thought "I must have six."

Groovy. That part alone was a head-scratcher for me: Couldn't figure out why TLG didn't put the fourth flange in the design. I guess either an accountant counting beans, managing the profit margin, or maybe a designer consciously putting in a gap to inspire kids to add to the set. Or I'm over-thinking.

Glad you like it. I don't have a parts list, but someone compiled one somewhere in the comments. Or just take the inspiration and run with your own ideas and your own parts. Happy building!
I wanted to do that too, but couldn't figure out a good place for it. On or under a wing would look chunky and awkward, break the sleek style of the ship. You could remove the whole engine flaring mechanism to make a bay to stick it in, but that mechanism is fun! Removing it would be lame. Nowhere else on the fuselage to put it where it wouldn't look "stuck on". Go the limo route: stretch the build, maybe 4 studs longer, to make a storage bay behind the cockpit. Like an astromech droid on an X-wing.
Some nice mods. As for people shying away from building, this is also partially because Lego also focuses heavily on releasing more collector's editions, like the Star Wars helmets and a lot more. Also by dropping B-models for sets, and no longer putting images of alternate builds on the boxart, as they did in the past with just about any set

@ericlandreneau5855 Thanks. It took a lot of searching through my lego chest and I didn't have all the prices but I Jerry rigged something similar. @@guyver5631 I've been thinking about that. I think it's playability. If you put the model down on a surface and press the button, it won't work if the lower part of the thruster is there; it'll hit whatever surface the toy is on. Sure, most kids will pick it up and swoosh it around, so no problem. But kids with one hand or other disabilities wouldn't be able to play with the toy. That's my theory.
Hello there! Some quick questions! Did you custom build your landing gear or was it based on another set? If so, either what parts did you use for the landing gear specifically or what set did you get it from?
@@jamie.nolanofficial hello! These were custom, original design to fit the space available on the ship. The hinge connection is just "1x2 clip plate 63868" and "1x2 bar plate 48336," but there are lots of combinations of clips and bars you could use here, or other kinds of connections. Then there are "1x2 curved slope 11477" and a 1x6 plate and 1x2 tile to finish off each skid. It works. Play around; I bet you can make something better.
What is the button on the front of the maneuvering thrusters (Camera), right next to the landing gears. I've found things like that but not the one that attaches flush. Usually I find the one on the peg.
@@ericlandreneau5855 I actually had planned to make the expandable engine upgrade you made. So after seeing yours, I did the landing gear and I wanted to do the thrusters as well. But I'm debating on making a forward landing gear or sensor package similar but different from yours. Still not sure yet. So we'll see what I decide in the future.
GG. I'd like more upgrades from you on the other space sets ! especially 60429 ship which is a little bit ugly and station 60434 (if you buy it, because it's not the same price , and a little too high to my mind)

Seriously, Thank-You. This was my very first set and it gives me a starting point to learn something new!
What is the button on the front of the maneuvering thrusters (Camera), right next to the landing gears. I've found things like that but not the one that attaches flush. Usually I find the one on the peg.
Antenna small base, part 4592. With the antenna lever removed
@@ericlandreneau5855 Ohm Duh! Just can't see the split. Thanks, that makes sense. Can't believe I didn't think of that.
@@ainewagner6564 they're handy little nubbins for all kinds of uses. I've seen them used well as eyes with slitted pupils.
@ainewagner6564 different! Different is better. I like variety, diversity.
GG. I'd like more upgrades from you on the other space sets ! especially 60429 ship which is a little bit ugly and station 60434 (if you buy it, because it's not the same price , and a little too high to my mind)
What I personally am Going to do is add a docking port so it can dock to the space station so I can recreate interstellar😅
Do it! That would be fun to see!
@@ericlandreneau5855 gotta wait till my bday to get the space station
@@Thatclass43fanoffical I made a docking port (and then some). Shows in my latest vid:

Another video coming soon with space station mods
Has anyone assembled a parts list for this? I can ID some of the parts, but for some of them I have no damn idea.
There's one from 4 months ago by @ariochiv
It's the very bottom comment, at least the way it's ordered in my view.
it's a great modification, but to be honest, those landing gears don't realy mean anything 😅
For a company whose motto is "Only the Best is Good Enough" selling a set with only the upper half of a spaceship.... they could have added at least 0.2 USD worth of tiles to smooth it out.
lego is a building system not a display system. these days every body rants at lego products. adults complain about stickers and other stuff.
first of all we are talking about toys for kids. kids like to craft new stuff they want a special piece and they can't use it because it's a printed tile.
of courese i don't like stickers but how about warhammer? you need to paint them. how about scale modelling? you need to paint them and put some waterslide decal paper stickers to it.
so tell me what is the problem?
3:00 god do I hate that term and it’s completely arbitrary as to what is and isn’t.
@@permeus2nd 🤣🤣
I don’t like the illegal building techniques
Please don't report me to the authorities 🤣
I made a list of the parts as best as I could tell.

Unfortunately that last assembly is difficult to see so I'm still probably missing some pieces.
Wow, you put a lot of work into that. I'm sure people will appreciate it.
The dark grey antenna is a screwdriver piece. Older design, not the current mold for screwdrivers.
I'm not sure what the goblet thing is you note in light grey. Part of the antennas under the wings? If so, those are telescopes, #64644
@@ericlandreneau5855 Screwdriver and telescope, thanks.
Just what I was looking for, thanks! :)
