A small recommendation. Pick a few songs and try to type along to the song, pick songs that go along with your typing speed.
Might make typing enjoyable in the beginning, I wish I had this idea when I first started.

I am an eight year old kid and my dad asked me to learn how to type fast and my feet are not able to touch the ground😐
Mine are only able to touch the legs of the chair, and for me to touch the ground, I must lower the chair, sacrificing my elbows bent. I think I am 5"0 too so that's a shame. 😐

Don't give up. I started with 0-5 on the first day, sometimes it reaches negative lol. 2nd day 5-10, 3rd day 5-10, then it went up to 30 by the end of the first week. Now I'm almost at the end of week 2 and I can already go 40 to 50, 60 sometimes, and I can do touch-type half the time. It seemed really difficult and impossible at first but after a while it already becomes automatic. I I can do it, you can too. A lot of things are difficult at first then goes easier after some time.

Firstly just remember what fingers you type the word on your keyboard...it will be fast automatically if you keep pratice once a day...believe me it will work don't think about "i'm wanna be fastest typer" at beginning typing on your keyboard...
I was able to increase my wpm from 41 to 69-73 in a matter of a few days by just doing typing tests over and over again.

I am learning how to type faster
I found a method which helped me type faster
Split the word in parts and type it.
For example,
If you try to type "wonderful"
write won-der-ful
This will make you do less error.
Also because there are many words that share common parts this will help you to type them faster.
For example, "careful" and "wonderful"
both share the part "ful"
and they both has another word that in it own a word. "care" and "wond"

there’s a solution called shorter furniture
For me I've always done finger gymnastics it's how I taught myself how to type faster. I type 90 wpm on average. My computer teacher always taught me to type a certain way, and it was pretty hard for me. It's different for everyone, but I'm around 90 wpm and 97% typos. So learn how you want to but I try not to look at the keyboard or what I'm even typing on and see how fast I can go (after getting a lot of muscle memory cause I've been playing on a computer since I was 5 so I learned muscle memory a long time ago.) Looking at what I'm typing and seeing the typos causes me to stop and fix them, it also causes me to check if I did make a mistake which takes longer, that's why I prefer not looking at what I'm typing because it just helps me go faster than usual so I can get about 100 wpm if I don't look on average (Only don't look if what you're typing is what you have thought about typing if you are doing a word test looking at what you're meant to type not what you're typing and ignore if it tell you, you made a mistake as it can offset you.) But that's what helps me at least so once more learn how you want and do whatever that's just how I do stuff.

if how learn touch typing you can get to higher speeds. I used to type with 2-3 fingers at about 60 wpm. But switching to touchtyping. Now I can type at around 120 wpm( took around 2 years)

@@cassidyfaith643 Yh i believe Moe 1 also, I'm 13 and I've been practicing everyday on websites like nitrotype, 10fastfingers, typeracer and more recently monkeytype. My typing speed changes depending on the site I use but on nitrotype, 10fastfingers, and typeracer i average 120-140wpm and on monkeytype i'm frequently getting 130-150wpm. It can be done just takes practice :)

If you are a gamer your muscle memory might be different, I was trying to type with normal hand placement and was getting confused so I switched to WASD placement which made my typeing a lot accurate
when you play game you should not think button as a letter . you can think its a button for a game

Everything you said are exactly what i did. As a result i have better accuracy than speed. I started to practice on "Notepad" and moved on to "Typing test". Awesome site btw. You gotta find that Comfort aka sweet spot when you practice, muscle memory will come on its own. 😁
In sixth grade I was failing typing class. Then my parents saw my report card and yelled at me for 20 mins. I ended the semester in typing with over 100% because I got extra credit as well as acing the lessons. It’s the fear man, the fear made me type faster and better.

Idk about anyone else but if I never found Nitrotype I would have never become faster. The competitive aspect is what got me into typing daily and allowed me to reach my speed today. I think it's important to have something to motivate you like that to keep you going and get you past "I type faster than my friends" status.

@Howard Zhang I'm able to type 150wpm. I didn't get this speed from playing a single game, just from typing every day for many many years, and really, that's the only way to become fast at typing, practicing "typing" won't get you anywhere.

You don't need to type at 100 wpm. You just need to learn to touch type and that will give you the freedom of not looking at the keyboard while typing. This will increase your productivity, concentration on the screen and will make your work less tiring. It doesn't matter if you type in 40 wpm. In fact, there's not a lot of activities that requires a high wpm. Even coding is not about fast typing . It is actually about awareness and touch typing definitely improves that ability.

hi, i type 136 peak (120 average when not really trying, however i can go into short bursts of around 170 but it's all abkut consistency and accuracy which i struggle with as i have ADHD). a tip that helped me improve is dont focus on speed but focus moreso on accuracy. also, a bit of a silly one but try slanting your keyboard a bit to the left or right (depending on your preference) and it actually makes it more ergonomic and more accessible. :D

On my keyboard, only WASD and arrows are backlit, so it helps a little bit, but most keys I have to touch type.

It's about getting into a rhythm and maintaining it, flowing from word to word, and not continuously lifting up the fingers so high, but keeping them low and continuously moving. A good keyboard also helps. I have small fingers, so long keyboards that stretch my fingers out, puts more strain on me. I recently used a light touch HP keyboard.

Important point: Move the fingers of your left hand to the LEFT when typing on the bottom row, not the right. This is much more natural. So index finger on C, middle finger on X and ring finger on Z.

Honestly, people should be keeping their fingers on the function row keys and reaching down for their letters.
Gotta learn to tap all of your alpha keys with your fingernails, way faster and ergonomic.

I remember high school typing class. One day we came in and the teacher had placed white stickers on top of the keys so we couldn't see them. Every single one of us immediately took our pens and labelled them.

me, an IT major, with an average 29 wpm (at least on those stupid and misleading websites). TBH it isnt always better to be faster, but more accurate. So long as you get work done and code written in a timely manner, no one cares. Typing faster is useful, but not always essential.
