+William Moye The one in the video is a garbage one, but the pilot holes were drilled by dewalt 'pilot point' bits that are made for drilling metal and they are amazing. I didn't have a dewalt bit big enough so I had to use a crap bit to get the size hole I needed. Find the set I use here: amzn.to/21SjtQb
Sooo I watched this whole video only to find out that you actually have lug *bolts* instead of lug *nuts* as you stated in the video and title.... 😭 This won't work for me as I would damage the wheel studs
Yessir the listings are always changing, inventory running out, etc. So I link to the search page so people can choose the one they want, and they can also see that there are different styles available that might better suit their application.
Spray a little atf and it saves time, protects cooking a drill bit It's not a fun job is it.. We know Watch those metal slivers we know a dude with 2 in his eye Mri machines would suck the pieces out of his eye Hope you had safety glasses on Good video and we saw a glove at the end 👍 Slivers suk
+Crazy Funny Cats will consider the atf for next time, i'm pretty heavy on the safety glasses but lax on the gloves, it depends on what I'm doing for gloves.
+fockyoumang These are the ASA AR1's. I like the way they look, but I wish I had the 15's instead of the 17's. The 17's bend easier on the Mini because there is barely any suspension on the car lol. What size are your rims and what car are they on?
+fockyoumang Sorry I just found this comment waiting to be approved because of the link. I see what you mean with the lip difference. I think the offset is specific to the vehicle.
To drill metal, in general push hard, go slow, and use cutting oil. With harder metals, even slower and do everything you can to prevent heat build up at the tip of the drill bit. Use sharp bits etc.. I've had luck with carefully welding an old socket right to the lug.
@@Gone4Light a) you guys aren’t using good tools. Use cobalt alloy drill bits. Cobalt not kobalt b) why would you ruin a socket when you can just weld a junk nut or bolt on?!!
can i ask what wheels are these ? i bought these wheels when i was young and sold the car with them and been loooking for around 20 years to find them again
People lose lock keys because they don't want thieves to find it Leave it in the glove box, hook up a cow electric fence device on 18s lipo 50 c venom batteries 👽👽😳it werx 🤔😉🏎
that sucks...get a 1-size-too-small deep socket and sledge hammer it onto the lug, the wheel may not like that though. don't use your hand to hold the socket..use long pliers
a DIY Car Guy glad they worked for ya, i usually use a socket with mine because they say tohave pressure on the rear of the tool and i have a socket out more than a wrench lol
those are the weirdest lugs i’ve ever seen. You’re very fortunate they go in that way so they can be drilled out because on traditional lugs/nuts drilling out is the biggest pain in the ass
You were very fortunate that the adjustable wrench and reverse easy-out worked.
A pipe wrench would have been a better choice in that circumstance.
what a GREAT Method! AWESOME!
Thats a great idea. Drill through it. It may cost me studs but ill replace them.
Hey, what size drill/metal did you use? It only made a dent for me
I would like to know what kind of drill bit you used.

Thanks for that I'll try it.
William Moye welcome, good luck

@@alexkapinga2024 u can replace the studs
@a diy carguy the link u posted for the extractor like 30 different ones popped up.

How torq I’m do I need?
those look almost identical to my rims but mine were painted and have a way bigger lip. ASA Revolution Racing is the name

Am very surprised the cordless drilled out hardened steel
I’m trying it and it’s soooo slow.
Your speed is very important. Too fast you'll damage the drill bit. Colbalt drills harden steel.
I tried this but of course bmw has to make the worlds strongest lock nuts😒 cant even drill into them
Kaden Bourgeois thought I was alone! spent an hour yesterday drilling into a stripped lock lug on my Volvo & I got nowhere!!
calum breitenberg:- try and get a solid carbide drill from someone who works in a machine shop ask around your friends.

Just tryed mine Peugeot done the same some f ing lock nuts

+Crazy Funny Cats I left it in a lug and it flew off somewhere haha
a DIY Car Guy
Looks like you have the drill in reverse
I keep mine in my glovebox
+Scott Brixey I usually do too, but I left it in a lug and it flew off somewhere while I was driving lol
Pardon me kind human but do you have any Grey poupon ?👽👽👽it's why we are here...
+Crazy Funny Cats haha thanks for your comments, I don't have any but I wish I did
Tried this yesterday and the ez out snapped so now I'm really f##ked

got them lol saved my hide so many times!

a DIY Car Guy glad they worked for ya, i usually use a socket with mine because they say tohave pressure on the rear of the tool and i have a socket out more than a wrench lol
+jimbo booth The ones I'm using are designed to be used with a tap wrench like from a tap and die set.....but I figure what the hell. hahaha
a DIY Car Guy true that, only thing that matters is that it worked . lol
jimbo booth yep lol, it worked on the other 3 lugs too

Super
My locking lug nuts are stripped.
+Myles Gelóneck that sucks!
glupane
See the doc- there’s an antibiotic for that. And stop sleeping around and you won’t get those things
Iv always hammered a socket on to and works easy
some locks you cant get a socket around or the outside spins for security.
Lug nuts or bolts mate!! Pure fucking English
Waste of time to worry about that nonsense. More words add inclusion for whoever's watching whether they have lugs or bolts.
