EXACTLY! The way they added the eerie guitar echoes in the background just makes it feel so mysterious and ghostlike, as if you are about to listen to a song that was lost and traveled from another dimension in a long time ago (almost reminds you of the most mysterious song on the internet). It's not just "cool", it's genius! What a way to end a lengendary album!

That sound you mentioned on the "Rocket Queen" vocal was a vocal effect put on Axl's vocals during the chorus. It was a really nice touch. Throughout this entire song there are a ton of subtle sounds and effects going off in the background. The band wanted to intentionally dirty up the recording to reflect the subject matter and the feel of the song.

    Hey Nickadoug,
The Reason "Rocket Queen" Sounded SO Different was itAxl Rose thought the song wasn't quite finished Axl had his head in Adriana Smith I believe BUT I Could Be WRONG and as she is stroking his hair he talks to her about his Idea, THEN Axl or Someone Mikes Up The studio and they had SEX and Mixed it into the song. BTW She was former Drummer Steven Adler Girlfriend at the time. Just to let you Know Mike clink appetite For Destruction's producer judt turn the Band loos and Let them Rock and they run the Musicboard with alot of electronics And other High Tech Gear being used today Check out The Guns-n- Roses central for More G-N-R STUFF.
    G-n-R Fan since '87,
    Neal Linville
