      Welcome. I have a similar problem with my w204 250 CDI 4MATIC. I replaced the manifold, I replaced the base and the fuel filter stub because it was cracked. I cleaned the dpf and the catalyst. I replaced the air flow meter and the dpf differential pressure sensor. And the car still has a problem with error p2279 84. Once it goes, and once it doesn't. It was a nice ride this morning. Now I came back home and for 30 km he was losing power every now and then. I checked IC hoses. Sealed again. What comes to mind is replace the IC. I was cleaning EGR. I don't know where to look for help anymore. I have been struggling with the car for 3 weeks and I cannot cope with it. Sorry for my bad English. If you have any advice, please help. Thank you

      @@davesterl How to do it? Where to put that smoke in to keep it sealed I don't have a device like you have and I don't know how to do a smoke test

      Check the boost pipe hasn’t collapsed in on itself. You can squeeze the pipe with the engine running if you feel a soft spot it’s herniated inside & reduces the air flow more pronounced on full boost. Catches many techs out.

    Got a few of these 651s on my books between Sprinters and and a couple of E-class saloons. Can’t say I’m a fan, every job seems to be a p.i.t.a. There’s a known issue where bolts break in the inlet manifold causing leaks. Don’t envy you stripping that thing, everything you want to remove has something else in the way. Have a good look at all the coolant hoses when you tear it down, I’ve had to change a couple before now. Thankfully the repair kit for the fuel filter heater is quite cheap. From memory it uses one less fixing bolt but it’s meant to be like that, not a wrong part issue. Enjoy!

      Aye Russell, i know about the snapped bolt issue, will find out on tear down. The new filter housing has the extra bolt hole, i think the newer engines have the third hole, Done a few filter housings but not a manifold, cheers dave

      The fuel filter housing was modified to not be connected to the inlet manifold but free float of the cyl head instead. The manifold expansion & contraction was putting stress on the fitting causing the leak

    Hi Dave, You'll probably find one of the manifold bolts has snapped, they r captive in the plastic manifold. The threads left in usually come out with point nose pliers. We have Sprinters with that engine. Are you shure you have to take the EGR off at the back, I have alot more room in Sprinters, granted. But I manage just pulling the cooler off. The little male torqz at the bottom create lots of new words! Good luck

      thats great Steve will keep that in mind. Yes i know about the snapped bolt issue and had a good look (the best i could) all seem ok. From the footage it appears smoke from the centre of the manifold. However, the bolts might just look ok and will find out when i strip it. Will do an update video

    Nice video Dave.. I have the the 106 also, good smoke machine for the price.
    Throw some expanding foam in the crack and call it a day lol.. Just joking.. not the type of job just anyone can tackle.. I try to stay away from European Cars, mainly because my toolbox is not setup for them.

      Aye cheers Jeremy, those mainstream smoke machines are very expensive and this one has found a few problems just like this, so far so good. Aye the mercs are a bit specialised especially diesels. Same to you guys across the pond, stay safe and take care, dave

    Top video. Currently trying to diagnose a P2279 issue on my E250. Changed lots on mine (new inlet, egr seals, inlet 90 degree connector, lower solid pipe, new seals to throttle body etc, new black boost hose, new hose on orange boost pipe. Still getting P2279 and the air box turbo hose looks good so scratching head and thinking PCV… any other ideas?! Cheers!

    Great video Dave , as we all know in our job that's gonna be a plastic scratching of the arms job , plenty of cursing when your taking everything off , Herman the German would rip out the engine and box then undo the manifold off the car , but we love a challenge don't we , take care Dave, think Eric at SMA is turning into Dr David Banner, he had green hands earlier doing the rear brakes lol

      Cheers mike, aye looking at thi job at first it would nearly be easier to raise the body off the engine and box. The thought did cross my mind. But im going to do a mash up video of each step im taking to do this one, cheers dave

    Excellent video, P0101 with a turbo can be a bit challenging to pinpoint, but the smoke machine wins the day every time IMHO😉👍

      Is really so strange with this OM651 the fact I had exactly same crack in the exactly same place on the manifold so is like a factory error plus one snaped bolts..
      Mercedes replaced it but was very expensive...
      Hopefully the new one is not having same factory issue...

      you need circulation

      dave sterl I plan to put Oil Catch can in it's location.
      So, I block EGR valve with a plate and for EGR cooler I remove and connect hose directly to outlet hose. Also needs a bigger block plate to close the opening between EGR cooler to EGR bypass valve. By this way we still have circulation.

    I have similar problem with this om651 engine. But first had p0299 error, I found loose bolt on the exaust manifold, fixed that. After 3weeks again with the engine light:( looked everything, didnt find a problem. Went on a ride, again engine light but with p2279, very disappointed with the car

      Inlet manifold sensor dirty .
      Normally they block up in crap.
