I have this same radio. When scanning the higher frequency bands, like the 16 meter band, it's best to hit the antenna attenuator button to -20, and that will mostly eliminate the problem of the radio stopping the scan for noise.
How you doing Gary I didn't notice when I use a long wire that's about 30 ft going up into a tree outside my window it's a lot quieter than MLA 30 however I do like the amla30 a lot that's a good antenna did you try it on medium wave it works really well
The Shortwave Radio does run great at specific hours, like really good at nights or evening hours. Does that radio unit have a NB on it, to reduce that 60 meter band noise? Too bad we can't squelch that out! 😆👍🏻
Thanks for the video, James. Certainly, RF noise is a growing problem with which we all must deal. (Granted, most of us are familiar with the Eton 750, but it would have been nice to have at least a momentary view of the entire radio).
Thanks Jim , I have been thanking about buying a s2000 , same radio i thank . some people say to get the H 501X over the S2000 and they are the same money . I need a table top and i think this is a good one ! I am not new to short wave and have some great radios . my ICOM IC-R70 is getting some age so i am getting a new table top . Thanks Jim
Heating pumps on timers, fridge/freezer motors, nightly modem updates are the worst offenders for me producing really bad noise in sudden appearances. Sometimes the noise seems to follow from band to band where it wasnt before.
I'm really liked your video. I'm presently looking at the Eton/Grundig Elite/Satelitt 750 receiver and the Tecsun H-510x receiver. Really, not sure what do. Any suggestions?
The reset button is just below the tuning knob on the to the left a little button I don't know if it willto cure your problem but I had the radio freeze up on me before and I just reset it and everything was fine
Perhaps ferrites clipped over power lines where they enter your house or wherever they’re exposed so you won’t have to dig into the wall.
Great radio. Have the S2000 with a balun and long wire. After dark the SW band is alive with stations. Thanks for putting up the video.
Yeah I enjoy mine too I have about 30 ft of wire throwing up into the tree and it works fine

Yeah I noticed that myself
put your antenna on the ground - that will really cure your noise problem - put a long wire on the ground.
Thanks I'll have to check that out it's starting to get warmer out so I can go out there and try it
Now that old uncle Joe gave us some dough I might go ahead and pulI the trigger on one of these. Lol
You mean Grandpa Strokey.
I get a lot of noise on the internal aerial but when I switch to my MLA 30 outdoor antenna at 8 metres high the noise is gone.

Sorry about the spelling I use voice type
No 17655 is a French broadcast. It is a real channel. I can get it if I go outside very clearly.

The new type outdoor lights give off noise I had my area light change to the old style bulb and it went away
Thanks very much I appreciate that info

The 501x does appear to be a very nice radio I like the fact that it has the stereo speakers

Last year the power went out for 3 days from a storm that was the best radio I've had in years so quiet
Great video. Have the Tecsun S2000 version. Great radio too.
I've had mine for a year and a half now and I'm pretty satisfied with it

I probably personally would go with the Texan 501 it's cheaper and it's just as good if not better than the eton
Can you hook a long wire antenna on that without any special connections?
Yes you can there's a little clamp on the back of the radio where you could stick the end of The Wire into it
📻🙂
Love mine but she quit working on batteries only and I have no idea why?
Have you tried the reset button
@@jimsradiocheck936 oh wow how do you do that!
The reset button is just below the tuning knob on the to the left a little button I don't know if it willto cure your problem but I had the radio freeze up on me before and I just reset it and everything was fine
