Both radios were built by TECSUN. The german Grundig company is dead and the brand was sold out to Far East years ago. But TESCUN radios were realy good and perfectly processed radios. I own the PL-990x (predecessor of the H-501x) und and the "original" Grundig Satallit 750 aka ETON 750 -> the TECSUN S-2000 and I'm happy with both.
If you are wondering about 3330 .It is called CHU Canada.
If you are using an AC adapter, you MUST make sure it is NOT a switching type design. With radios, use only an adapter that uses the old (heavier) transformer/regulator type design. Switching type adapters give off radio frequency noise.

I love your videos. I have an Eton 750 and H501x love em both . But the Eton is timeless in design and perhaps more fun to tune imo. I'm old though . The 501 is better sounding on certain stations and better on SSB

@@hamrad88 No sir, there was rotation directly southwest of me in a bad storm but the tornado didn`t touch down. We had over 25 of them a few years ago right in this area so that storm was very frightening. We got hit directly by hurricanes Laura and Delta in 2020 and so many before so it`s always a concern here. My first hurricane that nearly killed me was Betsy in 1965. Seen a lot of them since. About every five years.
No wonder you get in your questions about an hour before I'm climbing out of bed. 6 in the morning and there are things to be done indeed.

I have both radios under the Tecsun moniker. Great sound on both radios. Very close in terms of performance. The 2000 is a bit more finicky than the 501. The 2000 in my opion gets style points for looking kool. I think. the 501 is better. Great video!👍

Fun comparison. I live right beside chu (3.33 khz) and it sucks due to harmonics. i have two mw filters for HF.

Tom, thank you for taking time to make these videos, they’ve been instrumental in helping me decide on which radio will provide the features I prefer. Like many on here, I own over 20 portable shortwave receivers and a couple quality HAM radios. I’m still bewildered as to the reason Tecsun didn’t put Air Band and a record function for the SD card reader on the 990. And I’m curious if shortwave radio companies will continue making upper end models that we prefer or if they’ll trim down production to cheaper units? I’m seeing a lot of handhelds and pocket radios on the market but each new “flagship model” radios like the S2000 and 990 are having longer gaps between new model debuts.
I don't expect to see many new high quality shortwave recivers. More SDR coming.
Very nice video though, but I didn't learn any more about the kind of antenna was used for this test, neither the tests conditions. Pity.

It is excellent. 4 very nice speakers. See older shows which I have a picture of the inside of the radio (I did not take the picture).
I dunno, I can't tell the difference. I like both portables. I'm leaning towards the x501 for stereo FM listening as I won't only be listening to SW bands. I'm getting a multi band Rx HT on backorder. I really want an SDR to my spare phone aswell. Eventually, i want a proper uniden scanner but they are super expensive.💰🤔

I see the big 800 lurking in the background....you mentioned a loop antenna early-on. What brand is the antenna? Also that switch is pretty kool also. The radios sound great but overall I prefer the 501 in this case due to the hash being at a higher frequency, "enhancing the signal."
I use the MegaLoop 30+.

Wonder which one you decided on . I have both and for my money the Grundig /Tecsun s2000 is the better choice . The 501 needs charging every few hours and is no better in any way . Hope you are happy with the one you decided on . They are both decent radios but after having the s2000 I am disappointed with the 501 . I expected it to be better for such a high price . Regards from the UK .

Pound for pound, which radio is better. You mentioned the Grundig Sat 750 and the Eton Elite 750 at the end of your video Are they exactly the same or is there a difference? In Canada the Grundig sells for about $150.00 more than the eton version. Yet both radio appear to be exactly the same. I love your video, keep up the fabulous work!
From what I found that are basically the same except you can't easily find the 750 brand new.
@@hamrad88 It looks like the same radio is made by at least 3 different companies. It has had quite the journey, I will have to further explore that one. Thanks a lot for the help. I think, I will probably finish by purchasing the Eton Elite 750 over the Tecsun H510X. I also have an old Grundig 800 and I know her years are numbered. She's still in pristine condition; however, one can never tell and these days at least in my neck of the woods your not going to find anyone anymore who will fix those old receivers. At least when she dies, I will still have her sister the Eton Elite 750. I can always buy the other newer models later on. I just love those big radios that remind me of my dad in the basement with his old WW2 ham gear. Once again, thank for answering my question and be WELL from New Brunswick, Canada.

I have both of these . I much prefer the s2000/grundig 750 . Audio is slightly better . Buttons much rasier to read . Prrformance is similar . Grundig has air band and more fun to use . The main deal breaker is that the 501 eats battery life and needs charging every few hours . The grundig lasts ages on one set of D cells and as a bonus it looks great . Disappointed with the 501 . Not worth the money. .
These big radios look good but performs very average. I haven't owned it but the feedback isn't great.
The Grundig/Eton 750 is junk. It has no filters and is very wide band even on Shortwave. Stations come in on top of each other. For the price that thing is garbage.
