    Floyd Rose 1000 IS NOT THE SAME AS AN ORINGINAL. 1000s are Korean made. they are supposed to the same specs, but they are different. the original is German and still the king.

    I've been to many guitar stores, and I've never came across a better fr than the kramer recessed floyd. Going to a higher pitch as well as lower, is better than just going lower.

    Things may have changed since this video was posted, but from what I’ve read, Original Floyd Rose = Schaller factory in Germany. FTR-O1000 = South Korea and come on stock guitars that have a Floyd Rose.

    Cool, video. Ive never owned an Original Floyd Rose, the closest i have is the FRT 1000 on my Bc Rich Warlock, its still cool. All my others are just licensed that came on the guitars. The best one is the screw in bar licensed Floyd on my late 80s Bc Rich Bich. Years ago i thought id upgrade to an original but i won't now, i like the feel of it as much as any of them.

    I've got a new-ish chrome Floyd Rose Special trem installed on my Jackson JS32M guitar, some people seem to think it's an inferior trem to the Floyd Rose Original, but I've been able to get it to perform pretty well so far after lots of whammy-bar abuse and re-tuning, got it to the point where none of the strings are going wildly sharp or flat, it does seem to be having relatively minor trouble returning to zero, but I found that if you put some three-in-one oil in where the knife-edges contact the two pivot studs, it does improve it a bit, it doesn't do the "fluttering" effect all that well, but for the price I paid for the parts to build it, it's pretty good, I built it from parts I ordered online from Stewmac, it's definitely better than the stock trem that was on the guitar when I bought it second-hand from my local cash-converters store.

    • @chrislink007
      @chrislink007  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Good day Simon! You are on the right path my friend. The knife edge is the balance point and most important item on a Floyd to stay in tune. If it gets slightly bent or a burr it will always pull the strings out of tune. On the Floyd specials I have slightly filed the edge back to a descent shape before with some success. It can't be to sharp or it will go back to pulling it out of tune. The better Floyd Rose have greater quality metal base plates. Stainless steel chrome veradium is great. You may need to replace the base plate with a better quality one. I hope this helped Simon. Thanks for your support and good luck.

    • @gameroftheyear1000
      @gameroftheyear1000 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Honestly with my specials, especially now with all the aftermarket parts, I just makes upgrades when I bring them in to be setup every year. The only thing I replaced before a Floyd special touches my guitar is the block. A brass block always goes in from the get go. Then I’ll replace the posts after year of abuse with titanium or real Floyd steel ones. Then I’ll do the springs with noiseless ones. After that it’s the saddles and saddle screws. Everyone says with all the money invested I could of just bought a regular Floyd but since I spent the money incrementally over the course of 3-4 years, I’d say I’ve gotten my moneys worth. I will say though if you can swing a Gotoh GE1996T floyd, I would. Although the standard Floyd studs would have to come out and the Gotohs would have to go in, and the Gotoh is slightly larger than the Floyd models so the GE’s aren’t always a good fit into a standard floyd route which is where a lot of people avoid them. Usually people will replace mid range guitars with awful Floyd licensed trems with the Gotoh because the route is much bigger than a standard Floyd route to accommodate it. You’ll see it on guitars where the sides of the trem routes have 45 degree angle cuts as opposed to smooth rounded cuts.

    • @chrislink007
      @chrislink007  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ricky Gaona You can definitely make your Floyd Rose float Ricky. You just need to take all the tension off the strings first. This is very important to not loose the knife edge of the Floyd while turning the mounting post. Then you can adjust the mounting post up where you would like them. Keep track of the amount of turns on the post so they match each other as far as height. You might need to adjust the springs in the back. Most of the time the spring need to be loosened a little bit. Then re-tune your guitar and check. I hope this helps you. If you’ve got any problems let me know and I can talk you through it. Thanks for checking out my videos. best wishes 🎸🤜💥

    So I have one of these cheap licensed floyds (the bar on my just sticks in, no screwing). My problem is the screws that push the blocks that hold the strings are pretty haggard and also one of the saddles is cracked. My question is are all of the components of floyds interchangeable or do I have to buy something specific (are there differences in size)?

      Stewmac stock sets of 6 Floyd Rose Special saddles, plus the screws and string-clamp blocks, they seem to fit fine on a Floyd Rose Special which is pretty much the same-size as a Floyd Rose Original, I've got a chrome Schaller Lockmeister bridgeplate, and the Floyd Rose Special saddles are virtually a drop-in fit.

    My Kramer Striker (Look to the left) and Baretta (with a sustainer system) have the Kramer branded trems that came with the EVH D-Tuna. The guitar I play the most often now is my Ibanez Jem Jr. But the trem on that sucks ass. I'm constantly tightening the Allen screw under the bar. That small nut on the sleeve that the bar sits in just won't stay tight. The bar works itself loose after using it a few times, and swings down. And forget about holding tune. Back in 1986 I bought an Ibanez RS-440 (Roadstar II) and beat the hell out of that tremolo (ala Brad Gillis of Night Ranger) and it never went out of tune. I'm considering getting a Floyd Rose Original to drop into the Jem Jr. Do you think it'll just fit right in? Or will some mods have to be made?

    • @chrislink007
      @chrislink007  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The original Floyd may not fit directly. You may need to reset the post to fit in to your guitar. You could try some Loctite on the screws for the bar. It may hold it in place for you. Good luck my friend. 🎶👍

    • @chrislink007
      @chrislink007  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The Floyd Rose special is pretty much the lowest quality Floyd you can get. It’s made out of cheap pot metal and galvanized pieces. They offer this for the cheaper guitars just to be able to say it has a Floyd Rose on it. A Floyd Rose hot rod special is where someone has added a few better quality metal parts to a cheap Floyd special. That is what some call hot rodding a guitar. Otherwise you’re looking for a FRT 1000 or Floyd Rose Pro. These are made out of chrome vanadium steel and work fantastic. I would highly recommend saving your money for a better quality Floyd. I believe you will be happier in the end. Thank for checking out my videos N- Money. Best wishes 👍

    • @chrislink007
      @chrislink007  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Correction; I found that Floyd Rose has a new model out called the “Floyd Rose special hot rod” edition tremolo. It looks to be a quality made model. That is very confusing of them to having one called Floyd Rose special and the other being called Floyd Rose special hot Rod.

    • @chrislink007

      The FRT 1000 works fantastic. I don't think you need to spend the extra money on the pro model. Keep looking around if you really want something with active pickups or you can always get the guitar you want most and add something like a EMG or Seymour Duncan later on. 👍

    • @chrislink007
      @chrislink007  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Schaller made the original world famous incredible diveboming king of the guitar game floyds for years and then lost the contract with Floyd Rose. Schaller had to change the design and specifications from the original pattend design. They are not interchangeable without modifications. The original Floyds are the most sought after models for quality and fit. Thanks for checking out my videos. I appreciate it fendi.

I do have many years of setup, repair, teaching and building guitar experience and I just love my job. Customers over the decades are really happy with my results. The Special is the lowest quality Floyd Rose that I have worked on (and own and play with) that you can get. The facts are the post blades dull fast so it doesn't flutter like the other Floyd's do. Quality of metal is day & night all around. Pot metal used so the screws strip out easier ect. Thanks for checking out my channel Hell Cat. I appreciate you stopping by 🎸❤
