  • These types of installs don't come around much anymore. A fully floating Floyd Rose install, with locking nut install. This is specifically for a Floyd Rose or licensed tremolo.

    The best part for me: the Dremel as a router with the template 👍👍👍. If had known this before I could have saved the money for an extra router fiddling around without a template...

    Always a pleasure to watch Adam use common sense, logic, and experience on these projects. He thoroughly explains the purpose and reason for every step. Even though this isn’t a tutorial, it does show the level of care and craftsmanship that goes into his work. I’m in Minneapolis, and it was a no-brainer to start trusting Adam with my own stuff after seeing these videos.

      Hi , I have 2 questions if you could please help , I’m installing my Floyd rose 1000. Into a krammer 84 I want it decked .. do I set the anchors down till it’s decked without the strings on or do I have to play around with the claw screws . ? It seems like it would be so easy but it’s starting to really bother me why I can’t figure it out yet I can send u a few pics of how it looks now .. and obviously I’ll pay you for ur help . Thanks 🙏

      But it is not logical to spend that kind of money and time to change a perfectly good guitar when with just a little bit more money you could buy another guitar. You should at least have a trem guitar and a hardtail for every tuning that you use...

    FYI, tape measures are designed to have the hook move in and out 1/16" to get accurate inside and outside measurements.
    I will be replacing an awful Accutune with a Floyd Rose, and your video breaks down each step. Thanks.

    Great video Adam, one of the best IMO! Thanks for sparing us the monotony of having to watch the actual routing, although the 'painting' process was somewhat tedious, again IMO. It should also be mentioned that the string guide location on the headstock doesn't interfere with the access to the truss rod!
    Once again, my sincerest thanks for sharing this very well done video!

    That’s a shame brother. Wish you could have enlightened the customer about the Floyd Rose Rail Tail it would have been the perfect replacement
    for your application. Total benefit of a Floyd rose without removing any real estate. Thanks man great video! Really enjoyed it.

    The looseness in the tape measure is to compensate between measuring butted up, vs pulled, because of the tab underneath it used to hold it in place when pulling it to measure. It's not from wear, it's a feature! the movement is the same as the tab's thickness. Not to say that they cannot wear out, but do not easily with normal use. Used both ways, it always measures right because of it, and you don't have to add or take off 1/16".
    I still prefer long machinist rules. More expensive for sure, but also more accurate. I use the tape measure around the house, and good rules in guitar building and repair.

    Tape measure isn't lose. It's designed that way to get an accurate measurement if you are butting the end of the tape in or hooking it and pulling. It allows for the thickness of the hook to keep your measurements accurate.

    Your tape measure works as designed and intended.

  • @Bartolobot
    @Bartolobot ปีที่แล้ว +1

    The loose clip on a tape measure is not the result of wear from slamming back against the case, like the author suggests. Rather, it is an intentional design feature that allows you to measure inside and outside of something and still get an accurate reading. Compensatingfor the thickness of the clips metal. Such when pushed against something it moves back the precise amount of the thickness of that metal clip and vice versa when clipped on an edge and pulled.

    I'm having a tricky time matching a lock nut right now... i'm debating on getting an aftermarket chinesium nut that is the exact width of the headstock or trying a FR nut that isn't quite 42mm, the R2 is too small and R3 is too large. going with a 1984 reissue top mounted for a frankie tribute.

    • @MillCityLutherie
      @MillCityLutherie  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I always put the sting spacing first. If the nut is a little narrower than the fingerboard, then so be it if it plays right.

      I don't have a Pro on hand to confirm but i have done them in the past. I'm pretty sure it's the same templates, but the second route for the string locking bolts you would position differently, and possibly a little deeper.

    You make it a point to point out that you rout to the base of the factory nut but then end up putting a large shim anyways. Wouldn't a few measurements have told you to just use the smaller shim and not take out neck meat unnecessarily?

    You didnt show how hard it is to balance the tuning and the springs to get the trem level with the top and fine tuned that the sucky part for me. Took awhile to get it perfect, and stay in tune.

    • @flybybaby8008
      @flybybaby8008 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Welcome to the wacky world of the Floyd Rose. Just think, you get to do the whole tuning ritual every time you replace strings!!! Strongly recommend a libation or two of choice before, during, and after!!!
      Now you know where the adage 'Practice makes perfect' came from. 😂 -E-

    • @Patrick-857
      @Patrick-857 11 วันที่ผ่านมา

      It's actually easy. Tighten the springs, put a block in the trem so it holds level. Then replace the strings. Tune up, stretch the strings, and then retune. Lock down the nut, check tuning with fine tuners. Loosen off the springs until the block falls out, check tuning whilst adjusting springs until everything is in tune. You don't need to do this every time, only when setting up. Once set up, it's easier just to replace one string at a time.

  • @jeffreymckeown

    Mill City Lutherie..In fact, if you want to ''Install an Original Floyd Rose''....you might want to have one on hand...so your clip should be called Jackson licenced locking trem install...A Jackson locking trem is not an Original Floyd Rose, not sold by Floyd Rose, not made by Floyd Rose....A licenced under Floyd Rose patents trem is made by any company that pays a licensing fee to Floyd Rose to use any part of the Floyd Rose trade marked protected designs... There are dozens of manufacturers that have paid a licensing fee and used FR patents to make their own systems, each with varying dimensions,quality and materials....The dull knife edge is a rare problem on Floyd Rose Original bridges, but is more common on most licensed bridges. If your bridge says, "Licensed under Floyd Rose Patents" or similar anywhere on it, this is a licensed bridge, and "not under any sort of FR quality control." If your bridge is a licensed bridge, you should get rid of it and get a real one...The German made Schaller being the only licenced exception to the rule...that comes to mind...

      It's exactly 100% the same work. Same routes, same spacing so on. All you had to do was watch the first minute of the video, or read the video description. Also, the model of Flord is called Original. The Pro is a different job.

      @@MillCityLutherie In fact, the model you installed is called the( Floyd Rose® Licensed Jackson® Double-Locking Tremolo ) on the Jackson website...It is one of the cheapest double locking trems in their line up...followed by the Floyd Rose Special,
      Floyd Rose 1000 Series,
      Floyd Rose 1500 Series , Floyd Rose Pro and finally the Floyd Rose Original...but the fact remains that the model you installed is not an ''Original Floyd Rose Install'' ..but rather a Floyd Rose Licensed Jackson install..those are the facts...
