    the plastic sleeve floyd arm works much better than the metal pin arm, in my experience. plastic one doesn't come loose at all and the steel bar always loosens up immediately after using the bar. i seek out the plastic bushing bars now

    The Special has a spot hardened steel base plate. Only the saddles and the block are zinc alloy.

    One of my guitars came with a 1000. It's excellent. I have no issues with the fine tuners. I have a special on my LTD. It's junk. No matter what I do, it wont stay in tune. It will be replaced very soon with a 1000.

    2 must haves are (and several of these are a good idea) the HexHider magnetic allen key and the thing called The Key which allows u to keep tension of strings for intonation. And ive found you really cant use a D-tuna on a recessed floyd, on my 2009 top mounted USA San Dimas, the neck is angled and theres plenty of room for pull ups and that tuna.

    • @TheGuitarFretZone

      if you have a recessed floyd on the low E , you can cut a line to put the d tuner on the recessed part, but you may not like the way it looks, it will look like Nuno's N4, I did it to one of my guitars, if you want I can send you a picture

    I have one that says Floyd Rose II on it. Any idea what that is? I can't find much information about it! A couple of screw holes are stripped now and the knife edges are really bad. I need a whole new base plate but I don't see that part anywhere.

      wow a floyd rise II, that is old, if I remember correct those would come on the kramer strikers(a long time a ago) the striker in the old days was the cheapest Kramer- they looked good, but they were made in korea and they were for a 13-15 old to buy who wanted a kramer and the floyd rise II was not even locking the strings would go through holes in the tremelo and it was nothing like a real floyd and the strings would go out of tune once you dip the bar, I am not sure what type of metals were used, but they were horrible, if you need a tremelo I would look to use a real floyd or a floyd rose special, I hope this helps.

    LOL kind of late in life to be learning these lessons. Nevertheless you are figuring it out.
    Shaller makes the Floyd. They make their own version now that the patent has it is called the lockmeister. If you abuse your whammy get the good stuff.

    Im missing the bar to my 27 year olld ESP custom with a Floyd rose , well i ordered 2 that were pretty cheap from Amazon or Temu or somewhere and they fit my Ibanez fine but their too big in diameter and dont fit in the bridge hole , maybe i have the old 80s german Floyd? There were no plastic or tips on the one that it had and i dont care if its cheap zinc i just need one that fits in the bridge hole and at least i can make that work.Any suggestions? Thank you

    I currently have 9 Floyd equipt axes, 3 are original, 5 are 1000 and 1 is the 1500. I just got the Loomis Jackson Kelly with the 1500, is working out really well but the fine tuners are almost unturnable, and the screws used to secure the locking nut are shit, if just the fine tuners were that much better its worth the difference but also the base plate is NOT made the same way. I will say that on 2 of the 1000's the fine tuners are now adjustable much smoother but theyre also looser and ive used them for 8yrs.

    • @TheGuitarFretZone
      @TheGuitarFretZone  ปีที่แล้ว

      if you are having trouble turning the fine tuners, get a QTip dip it in machine oil and swap the threads and start turning the fine tuners up and down and keep putting oil, I have that same issue and now they are great, I hope that helps

    I think the "S" stamped on the underside of the baseplate on the Special stands for: 💩, which would explain a lot. I have a Fender Players Stratocaster with a Floyd Rose Special. These are made in Mexico and retail for $929.99!! They were going for $979.99. Thar is ridiculous pricing to have this horrible piece of hardware on it. The most annoying aspect of it is that the knurled lock nut for the arm tension doesn't hold whatsoever. It's completely useless. I'm hoping the Made In Germany models don't have this problem. I'm assuming they don't?

    To anyone adding or trying to set up a Floyd rose take off the finger spring things and the plate that goes with them. They are useless kill the contact between the steel baseplate and wood of the body. When you install the string and tune them they essentially do the same thing as those spring fingers. For reference the real 5150 did not have those…ever! I have no idea why they added them.

    I put an OG Floyd on my Ibanez a while back and it blew me away on tuning stability. Rock solid. First thing I noticed was that it was heavier than both of my previous tremolos combined. My bother in law gave me a lightning bolt razorback dean for Christmas. He barely touched it. It’s got a Floyd special on it. Thing is very light. I have done everything to get this thing stable but it just ain’t happening. Time for another OG Floyd!

    Yes, I know it's complicated, but my modest contribution is... I have a shredzilla with german floyd and the fine tuners work much more precisely than with the normal floyd 1000, but both have the same tuning stability.
    It's a question of precision, not material. That makes a huge difference....i know.....german stuff 🤷‍♂️

    • @TheGuitarFretZone
      @TheGuitarFretZone  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I like the floyd Rose 1000 it has steel saddles, it's great its all made of steel, only difference is the 1000 is made in Korea the fine tuners are regular metal, the original is made in the usa and the fine tuners are brass, but the floyd itself and saddles are steel and specs are the same onthe 1000, the original and the EVH floyd. the block on the 1000 is a steel block its not brass, if you want a brass block you need to buy the 84 Floyd or you can get one from the site (FU) Floyd Upgrades.
      also getting a 1000 is cheaper than the original, also the EVH Floyd is the same as the 1000, on Ebay & reverb you can find good deals. Thank you for checking out the video- Thank you Bobby

    Hello, I have an American Charvel guitar, there is a Korean Floyd Rose, the tremolo is practically on the body of the guitar, I practically do not use the thermolo itself, I am wondering whether replacing the Floyd Rose with a better one will affect the sound? Will the tone of the guitar change much? Is it worth changing Floyd Rose for this purpose?

      Hi, don't change it, the Korean floyd is good quality, its made of steal and its solid(its a real floyd only difference yours is made in korera instead of germany, changing the floyd will make a difference in sound, you could put in a brass block from FU Tone(Floyd Rose upgrades), I did that on one of my charvels and it did not make a differences(it cost me money and I had to re-do the intonation, because I had to take the saddles off to change the block) . stock with your floyd. The Floyd Rose Special is utter garbage. I bought one a while ago to install a D-Tuna on a guitar that had a double locking tremolo but the string locking screws were short and on top with the saddle (not the traditional long ones). I saw that Fender was using a Special on their reissue HM Strats, so I figured, why not. Big mistake, it was awful. I couldn't believe FR would use their name on that POS. I got a Gotoh 1996t instead, now that's a quality tremolo. I bought an EVH Standard Wolfie, and it also has that garbage on it. I also got a Gotoh for it.
