      My chorus had a Zoom meet'N'Greet with Tim Waurick the other month.
      He almost retired from singing in '17 '18 due to complications with his voice.
      His singing style (as described by him) had been "Force it through and get the note" for years and now he is completely behind the banner of singing free without force. I think the other members have started following the same philosophy and that's why their voices are getting better, on top of them being some of the top of their craft and never stopping.

    I’m fascinated by the arrangement. Like in classical music, it is a variation on the theme. You can hear snippets of the original in it, but so much of the melody is hidden in the barbershop harmonies.

    2:09 to 2:11 on "Are There" are some of the juiciest chords I have ever heard. Legit, this quartet would win again if they competed now. I think they are the best of all time and I do not think a past quartet could beat them. Only one's coming close imo would be Platinum, Keepsake, and Acoutix.

      The thing that makes the voicing work is that the distance between between bass and bari is an octave + a third. If the bass was one octave higher, it would not work nearly as well.

    I've got 2 questions for all the barbershop junkies out there: 1. If you had to pick your top three quartets ever, who would you pick? 2. Have guys stopped with the whole, start a new group thing and try to win a second or third or fourth gold (Connelly and DeRosa)?

    • @MattThe
      @MattThe 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      1. My top three are Instant Classic, The Buffalo Bills, and these guys
      2. I believe Joe and Tony are done (watch me speak something into existence), but Gary Lewis is trying to win his third gold with Quorum - and he'd be the first in the Society to win three golds on three different voice parts
