    Hi Chris, I really enjoy your videos, very infomative. I'm battling to add text to the curved surface of a spoon handle. Have you tried this? I've finished the model and added the text (subratct 3mm, round). I only get a very faint cut out of the text. I'm using version 7

    Hi Chris. Your videos are the best. You have a knack for explaining things clearly. I'd love to see you do a 3D carving start to finish, using Carbide Create V7 Pro. I was able to get a successful 3D carve using your videos but I'm still fumbling to understand the effect of the various parameters.

      I really appreciate. Unfortunately I’ve thrown in the towel on Carbude Create. It’s too hard to keep up with their constant changes for mediocre software. I use Carveco Maker and Maker Plus now.

      I think it won't work with an iPad because you need a USB connection which iPads don't have. Carbide Create and Motion, however, will run on Windows and Mac OS. I'm using a MacBook Pro.

    My tool path simulator keeps showing the tool paths above the stock when I try to invert the gray scale image. What am I doing wrong. The image look right on the molding simulator but not on the tool path simulator unless I am doing a inverted mold like carving. Witch is the opposite of what I want to do.

    • @jonwick3517
      @jonwick3517 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Chris Powell after watching a different video of yours i was able to see what I was doing wrong. I wasn’t first setting the depth of the square around the work piece or separately. I was modeling both into one modeling component at the same time. Witched worked for a reverse image 3D carving but not a raised Relief 3D carving, it would always simulate the tool paths above the stock. I thought inverting the image would work but it didn’t. I then tried subtracting instead off adding and the simulated image would just disappear altogether. Thank you for the videos they help out a lot. I just wish I would have watched them before waisting two days trying to figure it out on my own.

  • @gailwest3117
    @gailwest3117 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Yes, I have the same issue of the simulation stopping at 50%. Your trick of going to design usually get it started again. I have also experienced Create Motion stop or loose communication with the PC. This is an on going problem, which I have requested help from Carbide with not results. It drives me nuts to do a 2 hour carve and Carbide Motion stops, just before it is finished and I have to run the whole program again.

    • @ChrisPowellFSD
      @ChrisPowellFSD  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’m starting to think I just don’t have the super computer necessary to run Carbide Create and launch rockets. It is frustrating, especially when you’re just trying to do simple things.

    • @gailwest3117
      @gailwest3117 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@ChrisPowellFSD If you are basing that on the locking of Carbide Create, that is a Carbide Create issue. I have a fast Windows computer, and as I said above, and I am experiencing the same 50% issue. If it were a lack of power on a computer, it would generally slow, slow way down, but generally with the new operating systems on Windows and Apple, it would not stop as I see with Carbide Create.
      I really get a lot out of your video and hope whatever technical problems you encounter you continue with your videos. Tnx

    So I'm on CC Build 520 and trying to get this 3D stuff down. I'm with you up to importing the image as a component, but when I look at my image, it is a flat carve. There is no contour to it. On your USMC Logo, in the show 3D after you import it, the globe is curved and shows depth. Mine is all flat. When you say to put the base height at .45 and that will be the top of the carve, all mine does is raise the whole image to .45 and it does not taper down. I'm obviously missing a step or something. If I carve this according to the Show 3D, it is just going to be a flat image raised up .45".

      Tapered bits offer increased rigidity, but can cause issues on deep cuts because the tapered part of the bit will cut into the part you’re making.

    You lost me at "I just went ahead and extruded this to 1/4"". The last time you did one of these you selected the border and just made it your stock thickness. THEN you subtracted the whole area like .25, Then you clicked your image and added like .20. Of course none of that worked for me even though it looked good in the simulation. Have you changed your process??
