These, and the XJ, are the most reliable vehicles I see on a daily basis.
As a long time owner of Landies, let me state one thing. Every time LRJ introduces a electronic/electric device in a Land Rover, that put me away further from the new models. I own a Defender, Discovery 1 and a 2007 Range Rover Sport. The Sport have heated back seats although is a 07 model. And they work!!!! @@lorraineosei7557 If you really read my comments AND was able to comprehend them, you'd know that I never commented on its looks. First, because looks are in the eyes of the beholder, can be - and in this case are - deceiving, and in case of a vehicle (unlike a couch) are secondary. If the damn thing spends all its miserable life being repaired, it's irrelevant how it looks. You COULD also learn that I despise rover because I had spent nearly 20 years in the field as an Automotive Breakdown Inspector and have extensive first-hand experience. Accordingly, rover is among the worst pieces of crap in terms of quality and reliability ever made, on par with jaguar and pontiac. Obviously, you either are a used rover saleshole and - as such - deny well known obvious facts or have never owned one.
I'm in love with the redesigned range rover. I myself would opt out of the third row seating, but would love to own the long wheel base model. And Damn right As I'm a hunter and fisherman I would most definitely equip this vehicle with a winch with grill guard, proper 18 inch wheels, and off road tires, and an over cab carry box. This is a wonderful wonderful redesign. 👍
And some stuff has already broken on his Defender but still stands by it. Meanwhile I'm complaining about Toyota not making the 70 series Land Cruiser available in the US
An interesting comparison, though this RR as configured is around twice the price of the Rivian. I'd take the Rivian R1S, it's more compelling though the RR is very nice.
Loved the car and your detailed review. As you mentioned the screen doesn't have built in apps. I think it is a plus point as well. For example, if you connect an iPad via HDMI, you can view all apps available on the iPad on that big screen.
Well if they support AirPlay and Google Cast then all is great. If they don't, the usefulness drops dramatically in a way that you cannot use them right away, but have to prepare cables and store them somewhere. And not all phones support HDMI. Yeah, I know, someone having Land Rover probably has also an expensive phone, but still.
Doug's reviews really are second to none. The guy dives into these vehicles, points out and comments on literally every detail anyone would possibly notice, and gives a very realistic take on everything he sees and experiences. It's obvious why he's become the TH-cam auto reviewer that many others measure themselves against. That said, all the non driving reviews he's been doing this past year or two are getting pretty tiresome. There was a time when he took great exception with that (Enzo? Enzo anyone? Enzo??). I get that you have to keep up with all the current hot new releases, and there are few harder working auto TH-camrs out there, but it's getting a little frustrating how many times I've opened a fresh Doug Demuro review of an interesting new model that I've been waiting on a review for, only to find that he isn't even driving the damn thing. Your reviews continue to be the best in the business Doug, I'm just saying, before you agree to a non driving review of a new vehicle, really think about whether or not it's really necessary to do it before you can actually drive the thing and give it a proper Doug Score.
He thinks TH-cam like a professional. Will a review of a new model give me views, even if am not driving it? Also depends on the model. The driving experience is the most important part of it? What is so amazing different on a SUV that even looks like the model form 10 years ago. Again, a SUV. Nothing. Better to do 2 videos and collect double the money. Next.
Wow Andrew... you managed to inadvertently agree with the point I was trying to make, while also somehow completely missing the point all together... impressive. The point I was trying to make was that lately he has been appearing, at times, to be focused more on playing the TH-cam game and simply banking views rather than giving the most thorough review possible. For anyone who clicked on this looking for a full evaluation and Doug Score that would allow them to compare it to previous Range Rovers that Doug reviewed and scored, this video is a let down. The point I was making was that Doug used to really frown on non-driving reviews, now he's doing them regularly, but more clicks equals more dollars. The whole thing with this new Range Rover is that it is a really big update for them, and maybe the drive isn't a massive improvement over the previous one, but that certainly doesn't mean the drive is irrelevant. And finally, maybe work on learning how to disagree with someone without being a condescending, dismissive jerk. The world would be a far, far less unpleasant place if everyone made an effort to politely and respectively disagree. Someone having a different opinion than you (especially on something as meaningless as an online car review) doesn't automatically make them a moron.
I would say it's just a matter of providing the right context, not content. If he would indicate 'Preview' or 'Review' in the title, it would be clear from the onset what kind of video it's gonna be and you would never end up disappointed. Previews are important to have and if I was Doug I would jump on the chance to get a preview of a new car, but it would be good if the distinction between preview and review videos are clear.
Great seat on tailgate! A great place to sit while waiting on your tow truck. I just don't understand why Landover and Jaguar can't get their act together. Why would I trust my family in one? Triumph motorcycles got their act together, mine wonderful and no oil leaks. Almost everywhere I read people complaining about the two.
If you’re talking about family safety the previous gen has a great safety rating and this one will only be better but it’s mass amounts of technology and accountants at JLR are it’s issue
I never realized how expensive these things could get, some of the previous models had over 200k sticker. The extended wheelbase here starts at 160kish.
Wow Range Rover did an amazing job. Best looking and most luxurious full size SUV with 3 rows. Actually this is the best looking SUV period IMO. If x7 and GLS buyers can afford this and are cross-shopping, why wouldn't they buy it? I like that it looks similar to the old one. It looks good as it is, and new cars are changing too much anyway. This is pretty much the only brand new car that I like the looks of
As a Range Rover owner I can say they are the absolute BEST at putting unnecessary toys in them that will eventually break and they will break at the worst times. They will require expensive trips to a dealership and hours online looking for repair tips. Also parts remain expensive no matter how old the vehicle is and over time get hard to find because unlike many other automakers they don’t offer long term parts availability from the dealer forcing you to go to the used/junk market for parts, order them from overseas or fabricate new parts yourself. Still the best vehicle I ever owned 😎

I don't like the door handles. They look 'cute' but now opening the door is now a 2 step process instead of one. That is not progression. I have the current model and i grab the handle, the car unlocks and I pull to open in one smooth move.
He missed the speakers in the tailgate for the tailgate seating entertainment :(
I would say it's just a matter of providing the right context, not content.
I hope the problems are simpler too. You know.. keeping with the theme of simplicity.
