Meshuggah fans enjoy watching people react to the band. That first time listen is quite the trip. I think we all remember our first time lol. Each successive listen will reveal a bit more. It's like a journey to an epiphany. There are just so many dimensions to what they do that one cannot really see them all immediately. You'll find yourself going back for more and being very excited in anticipation for what comes next. That next sick groove, that next insane drum pattern, that next insane scream from another dimension. I got into them back in 96 and Ive pretty much listened to them every day since. As a musician especially as a drummer it completely blew my mind and changed my whole perspective on music. As a fan of innivative heavy metal, it's so next level that I was just addicted immediately.

Little known fact about Thomas Haake : He is actually 4 people in a trenchcoat, and they all control one limb each - thats how they make the drumming work.

The closed eye visuals reference was gold. All things considered, it may well be my favorite Meshuggah track.
    Anyway, thanks for the upload.

Sometimes it feels like he is playing 3 different songs at the same time. One with the right arm, one with the left and one with hes feet.

Totally spot on regarding the Norms not getting the musicianship. I think at the top end they need time to train their ears, like we did as players. When you're starting out some solos are just too much to take in for eg. Best of luck with the channel bro, I'll be back...

I have seen one live video where Haake fucked up right at the beginning of a song, but he recovered almost immediately and played flawlessly thereafter - it proved he's human, and his recovery was as impressive as any flawless performance.

It's like they invented a whole new tonal vocabulary, there are no blues roots in this stuff that I can hear. Refreshing. And I like blues.

I love Meshuggah. Jason, i think you would enjoy react to Baard Kolstad, "Rewind" "Moon" "The Sky is Red". I think you would love him aswell. He is in the band Leprous.

The most mind blowing thing about Haake's playing is that he never hits snare and kick simultaneously, ever. Considering how much double bass he has played over the years that is just freaky.

@@Egoblivion I suspect you never played bleed yourself. I guess it's easier to play the kick under the snare hits on that one but far from a difficult task not to.
