@@kampen9868 "time signatures over 4/4" That's called a polymeter. Yes something other than 4/4 is being played but the music is in 4/4. That's why the "odd time" parts go over the bar. The band members themselves have explained that it's in 4/4. The cool thing about it is when you finally train your ear to hear the song in 4/4, the groove feels like 1K tons.

I kind of just always wanted to use my left foot as well on the kick drum. I ended up just starting from there and developing with it always there. Now I sit on a single kick set and I suddenly have to throw out all these fast doubles and triples just to mimic my normal style. Lol!

Check some out Meshuggahs live from Tokyo performance of the song Pravus. It is the best live performance I have ever seen and the energy that they bring forth is on a different level.

Also most of his parts are single pedal parts! He's just constantly tapping away quarter or eighth notes on the hats haha

I use two pedals. It takes a good 15 minutes to warm up my legs enough to do what I want though, haha.

Meshuggah related but not Meshuggah. Fredrik Thordendal (lead guitars in Meshuggah) made a solo album in 1997. There is a TV recorded jam session from that album 4 years after the release with Fredrik and one of the greatest drummers to exist; Morgan Ågren (who also played the drums on that album).
    Check it out!!!!

The trick to double bass is to stay relaxed, if you tense up you lose all dexterity and it goes downhill. Just like your hands, when you get tense you lose control. And a lot of practice, lol.
