Fun fact: grant and Melissas husband Chris wood, went to college together which is how they met. And then grant and Melissas obviously met on glee. So they’ve all been friends for a long time 😁

this song was written by Rachel bloom, who is the creator, director, writer, songwriter and protagonist of the musical TV show Crazy Ex-girlfriend (which I recommend you check out, the songs are AMAZING and the message of the show is wonderful).

Its awesome that you're getting to know the shows. Be forewarned: if/when you do Buffy's "Once More With Feeling", please at least watch the lead up to it (and preferably the season before) at a minimum. The context of the show and characters are very important to their musical episode.

Benoît in French used to have a silent "s" (that's what the ^ accent means - in the Middle Ages the word used to have an "s"), so Benoist (which rhymes with "moist") was the original spelling.
Melissa is probably descended from someone who emigrated from France to England or America before the spelling changed in French. There wasn't a lot of emigration from France most of the time, so there's a very good chance she's descended from a Huguenot - a Protestant who was kicked out of France in the seventeenth century by the French Catholic government at the end of their wars of religion. There are lots of Huguenot descendants in England, and you find French surnames all over the place as a result.

Grant was a member of a community theater group called The Hurrah Players when he was younger. I remember going to several of their performances and being impressed by him.
if you didnt know they are part of the arrowverse which consist of arrow, the flash, legends of tomorrow, supergirl, black lightning and batwoman and they are part of the same universe and almost every cast member of every show has a musical background of some kind if you search for arrowverse cast singing on youtube or search for the individual shows cast singing you will find complilations for the actors and actresses singing in their daily lifes please let me know what you think

Grant is an amazing dancer! He was in the tour of West Side Story before he auditioned for glee. THere is actually a video on youtube from when he was in school doing Good Morning from Singin in the Rain that is really good and highlights his tap skills.
This is one of my favorite songs from this episode because it shows off both of their singing and dancing talent, while keeping the humor and show the friendship between the two.

Jeremy just sang the "put a little love in your heart" song you reacted to. He was part of supergirl's main cast and this episode is a crossover episode with flash (plus some characters from the other cw dc shows: arrow and legends of tomorrow)

You should watch the behind the scenes video for the episode to help you understand it beter. Like it's a flash and supergirl crossover episode. The characters are seen in the episode, except the love interests, are almost all the musical theater actors from all the CW show. I think the only one not there is Colin Donnell who played Tommy on arrow. And as for why Grant Gustin sang so weirdly in the beginning of the song is because his character was supposed to be making upp the lyrics on the go. So he was thinking about what he was going to sing. It was already established in season 1 that Barry can sing. He had a short scen where he sang karaoke with Caitlin.
Not sure if you have seen Arrow or not, but something happens to Colin Donnell's character, Tommy Merlyn, to make it where he's not apart of the show anymore. Also, the only Arrow cast person in this, who wasn't really a big role in the Flash or Supergirl, is Malcolm Merlyn/Cutter Moran (John Barrowman). I don't think Barry knew Tommy very well, if at all, and Kara never got to meet Tommy. Tommy was a bigger character in the tv show Arrow.

For future reactions to singing performances in musical episodes, might I suggest you read a synopsis of the episode itself? There's almost always a storyline and it would help put the performance choices into context. You clearly append information on the singers after the fact (as shown by the pop-up information graphics - nicely done, btw). Perhaps consider looking up those details before doing the reaction?

I really want to emphasize how poor the studio mixed the tracks in this episode. They could have been GANGBUSTER with all the talent they had at their disposal, but the episode only really had two "good" performances - "Put a Little Love in Your Heart" and "Running Home to You," almost 100% the fault of poor audio choices they used in post-production.
They should have hired on some temps from Glee or something for the audio mixing.
I love love love these people, these songs, these performances, but they're all SUBPAR because of the studio itself.

Yes, actually he is. As she mentioned, Grant Gustin (who plays Barry Allen/the Flash) played the character Sebastian Smythe (not sure on the spelling) in Glee.
