And I think the two of them are the best fighting duo in the game. If Yuffie was in the party, we took down whatever we were fighting in no time. She was the best melee and ranged physical fighter, and could even change elements on a whim. I love how they paired them up in the Sephiroth fight, beast mode.
Dude it was established that Cloud mentally was young for his age then he spent 5 years in a shinra tank. He probably is Yuffies equal in mentally only he doesn't want to show it.
Barrett's date in the original was funny, this time around it's more reflective to Cloud and the audience. Barrett really hammers in the idea of when you find someone that's real to you, don't let them pass by, and even if you get denied, like he did with Myrna, reflect on what you should do to improve yourself. Message received Barrett!
I just wished the first dating choice could be done differently. It is hard (and a bit out of char) to be rude with party members just for the sake of keeping higher relationship with someone. Also, it affects the playthrough experience, coz we are overly aware of the dating mechanics throughout ALL game and instead of just enjoying side quests at our leisure, we are always avoiding specific quests (and synnergies as well)
Mandy, I just wanted to say it's been an absolute joy and pleasure watching your play through and getting to see your reactions. I can tell this game and series has meant a lot to you, as it has to me throughout my time with everything related to Final Fantasy, and other amazing RPG's. This was one of the best moments of the game for me because it was the first time seeing this part in game as I hadn’t made it to the Skywheel stuff in the OG game and I totally get why people love this part of the game plus the outcomes where so good and totally worth revisiting this part again in chapter select my favourites are the obvious picks of Aerith, Tifa and Yuffie but they did such a great job on all of them
Kinda with Yuffie on this one. Great date idea but the motion sickness deal would be a struggle. Man this will always be my main criticism of this game. I wish we had more of these one on one interactions. These scenes were fantastic and showed how different Cloud’s relationship was with each person.
Thanks for sharing this, Mandy! As much as I respect Cloud & Aerith's "date", my number 2 personal favorite is Cloud and his sibling figure Yuffie. Playful to the very end. Huge smile!
Honestly, as weird as it sounds... Yuffie's date feels like the one where "The Real Cloud" shone through the most. But... for those who know... they know why.
The Aerith date feels...needy and somber at the same time. I'm watching it and wondering why Cloud has that kind of expression on his face, the frowning, looking afar and downward smile and his body is mostly turned away from her. Yes he smiled a bit during the chocobo part. He seems especially bothered after asking her about whether Tifa has said anything to her. Like how is he supposed to tell her, her bf is dead as he said before, 'she deserves to know'. To me the hand holding wasn't out of romantic feelings but rather kindness. He came to his senses and stopped being standoffish towards her. At the end of that date, Aerith thanked him and all he said was 'But I didn't do anything'. Like them holding hands didn't really mean anything to him. Whereas with Tifa, they got off, both shy and awkward because of what happened between them. Yuffie's date was the most fun and interesting I must say. And to add to that, she references Tifa in regards to Cloud many times throughout the game. Just to add (after someone said i'm invalidating others), I am not trying to downplay the romantic element of Aerith's date. When she said she wanted to be with Cloud, I do find that romantic. However, I feel it's one-sided as I take into account that she made the most initiative to reach out to him, and his demeanour isn't that of a guy who's enjoying his date. Breaking the news to her about Zack's death is weighing on him otherwise what is the point of him asking her about the talk with Tifa, about the loser whom he told her to forget about? I'm paying attention to these nuances (maybe a little too much) because I'm trying to understand the story. This is only my point of view of course. You guys can look at it however you want. Ship whomever you want. This is the comment section. People can exchange thoughts here.
You can prefer Aerith or Tifa with Cloud, but the GS dates with both women are clearly intended to be romantic. Denying that they're romantic is just participating in toxic shipping culture where one side feels the need to invalidate the other side out of ...jealousy, I guess? How silly. Cloud's love interest is up to player choice, hence the affinity system. If you ship Aerith with Cloud, be happy and if you ship Cloud with Tifa, be happy because at the end of the day, you have romantic scenes to enjoy.
Tifa date scene vs Aerith date scene Before the date scene, there a scene that Cloud seems kinda upset in Gongaga when Aerith said she might still love Zack, by saying "Forget about that loser" Scenes before Date Before the date scene, there a scene when Aerith was writing her song, Cloud came by and SMILE at her before going to stairs, this scene is appear also IF u got Tifa date Before the date scene, Cloud close her eye and linked into Aerith Scene on the bed, this scene is appear also IF u got Tifa date Its like devs hinting which date u should take to connect to main story Tifa Date First meeting outside the room: the reason why Tifa ask Cloud because all party member going off their own on skywhell leaving Tifa alone, thats why she go to Cloud cause she had no one else to go with. I find it weird that Cloud brings up about talking to Aerith about Zack in his date. My assumption is because Cloud wants to know / confirmation about if Aerith still likes Zack or not from Tifa. Even when Tifa says "Not yet" talking to Aerith, Cloud still assume Aerith still like Zack. Cloud kiss with Tifa is a reaction to his jealousy and uncertainty about Aerith feelings, he seizes the moment to address his unresolved emotions. He probably is aware that Tifa tried to kiss him in Gongaga, and how she feels about him. This act is self-indulgent, aligning with his character ego protecting trajectory at this stage. Real life comparison: Its like if you found out your girlfriend is cheating on you, and you want to get even / revenge / try torget it by dating someone else even if you dont really like the person you are dating. I think this was the devs intention of kinda telling you "this date is not Canon", they could have put the talk about zack in non optional scene outside of date. Aerith Date First meeting outside the room: Aerith made it clear that she want to be with Cloud in Skywheel as couple With Aerith date, Cloud asking about Zack make sense, because he wants to see the reaction of Aerith and direct confirmation if she still like Zack or not. After Aerith confirms that she only want to be with Cloud right now, Cloud looks happy, but still unsure, thats why Aerith aproach his shoulder to confirm it even more that she is moveon from zack. Only then Cloud finaly have the courage to hold her hand. Only My Personal Opinion I see alot of Cloti fans always said that Tifa is very supportive, but on the date Tifa seems cant even trust Cloud on how Chocobo Racing is played after Cloud explain it (i know she doesnt say this with ill intent... but comparing with aerith dialogue is night and day) Tifa: I guess I'll just have to see for myself. Aerith: Well, you would know! Aerith also the one keept mentioning that she want to meet real Cloud, she only who said this, Tifa never know that Cloud is acting to be someone else. As it is up to the players and players will favour their favourite girl then that is going to be their choice for Cloud's romantic partner. It is also the players choice to see if the dates are romantic or something else. So as a player of the game myself, I do not find Aerith's and Cloud's date to be romantic based on everything I have said in my original comment. I also did not invalid anyone's ship as I used the words, ' I'm watching it...' and 'To me...' hence making it clear that this is from my own point of view and not a representation for the messes. And also, not everything amounts to Jealousy which seems to be the only word people on the internet uses these days to try and put someone down.
@@jasminelily94 I've rewatch the Gongaga scene a few times and I do not find "Forget about that loser" to be a statement of Jealousy. I am comparing his behaviour to his jealous moments with other guys interaction with Tifa and I am not feeling that same amount of jealousy with Aerith's situation. Rather, 'that loser' went MIA not only on his gf but his parents too. An advice anyone would give to a friend if their bf/gf ghosted them. I also find it interesting that as he said "Forget about that loser", he finished that sentence while looking at Tifa rather then Aerith, whom the message is intended for. Interpret it however you want. (Scenes before Date) 'Cloud smiles at Aerith while writing her song even in Tifa's date'. So, what about it? This happens for all the other dates, correct,? Not just Tifa's. I can also argue he smiles at the other characters as well and he smiles a lot at Tifa too. So really, what about that smile? Open to interpretation. It's a non optional scene to show Aerith wrote the song to make sense of her singing it later on. 'Aerith on the bed Scene in the alternate timeline' Err, you really are reading this as 'Everything is about Aerith' huh? You just decided that is what the devs wanted for the players to see. If this is the case, then they could have made A x C date as non optional just like they made Cloud giving the flower to Tifa. If anything, this scene is to show us players a glimpse of what is to come in chapter 14, where Cloud and Aerith consciousness got transported to the alternate timeline. They cannot be awake in two places at once it seems. Anyways, from what I've heard, in the rebirth ultimania, the devs said there is no canon date and to watch all the dates. (Tifa Date) 'Weirded out by Cloud enquiring about the Zack topic' Ok at least you use the words 'my assumption' because I strongly disagree with you. My take on this. Cloud and Tifa had a moment in Nibel where Cloud believes Zack drowned and he said, 'She has a right to know" and Tifa offers to tell Aerith instead (remember, her account of the incident is different from his). His enquiry is not about Aerith's feelings for Zack because that is not what they talked about. It's about letting Aerith know what happened to Zack. Isn't this very obvious? And also it's a way for us players to know that Tifa and Aerith had that talk. Also, given there was an awkward silence between them, Cloud could brought up that topic as a means of having a conversation and the only time he can ask her about it without anyone else around. 'Cloud wondering if Aerith still likes Zack?' 1) He's just wondering since it could hurt her more knowing about his death if she still has feelings for Zack. Possible right? 2)He likes her. Open to interpretation. But Cloud kisses Tifa makes it seem that the former is more likely. 'Tifa has no one to date with and Cloud's her rebound :(" And yet she is the only one who asked him if he needed food and water. Everyone who goes on a date with Cloud has no one else to go with. 'Cloud Kissed Tifa out of jealousy' My brain died a little reading this part. How you come up with this assumption boggles me. First of all, FF7 is not that kind of story. So don't bring in some revenge drama story into this. And Cloud is not that kind of character to use someone for his own gain. He is mentioned to be loyal. He will never do that to Tifa because he really cares about her whether he likes her romantically or not doesn't matter. Your take on this part tells me that you do not understand the story nor the characters. Cloud has every opportunity to Kiss Aerith when she told him that she wanted to be with him. That's a greenlight to make his move. So why didn't the devs do it then? And like I mentioned before, the devs have said NONE of the date is more important than the other. I agree with you that the Devs could have put the Zack topic between Aerith and Tifa in a non-optional scene for those who do not get either of the girls' date. But i think they just wanted it to be exclusive for just them. The devs also wanted players to check out the other dates. (Aerith's Date) 'Again, Cloud inquiring about Zack' He asks Aerith about Zack not to know about her feelings for him but to know if she knew about his death. In REMAKE before they climb the wall to rescue Aerith, Tifa said, "You're actually a nice guy'. He can act all tough and be smug about being a soldier but she knows him. (Zack Persona) I too do not find Cloud and Zack to be similar and I do not buy too much into the theory that Cloud has Zack's memory mixed up with his. More like he copies Zack's behaviour via observation but does a bad job at it. Aerith has more similarities with Zack than Cloud does personality-wise, honestly. But Cloud doesn't see it that way. In chpt 1 we see young Cloud acting like Zack, doing that arm swing while squatting, being outgoing and smiling more too. He is also not aware that others see him as a loner until Barret teased him and he was surprised about it. (Affinity System) Well I can't comment much on this since i have not looked deeper into it and have not encountered any comments made by the devs that says More Character Affinity = Cloud Loves Them Romantically . I've check out the link you've posted but it doesn't explain much. What this tells me is that she's very important to the story and not to mentioned there's the HA and LA option in the Chpt 14 church scene, which tells where Cloud (us the players) and her stand, romantic or platonic. Not sure if you're aware, but in the LA scene, in the Japanese version, he calls her 'nakama' meaning comrade and she looked a little disappointed after that. Unless you can provide evidence back-up by interviews or text by the devs as to why Aerith has more Affinity, I'm just going to think, 'if she's easy, she ain't the one' lol.

That same yellow flower that is not the reunion flower that grows on the spot where Zack dies? You sure it's about Aerith? Be it Dirge or FF7 lore, Tifa and Cloud are referred to as Childhood friends but yet the REMAKE games are giving us all this moments where they clearly have more than platonic feelings for each other. Also during the lifestream moments and 2000 gil to becoming a hero, he stated he wanted to impress her. Why her? Why not his mom? Why not do it to show off to the other boys in his village that he's better than them? 'He would do whatever it took to become a SOLDIER. If there was a path, he would try to walk down it. Never expected a boy's night with Cloud, cait, Cid, and Vincent😂. But I really like how all the dates show different sides of Cloud and his dynamics with his party. Tifa date is still my favorite because years of shipping finally pays off.

The main reason I like Yuffie and Cloud’s relationship, and maybe I read too much into stuff, is that I feel like it’s very genuine compared to the others. Excluding that she’s going to [redacted], she’s not hiding things from Cloud like the others, she’s not privy to the same info as the others, so she doesn’t interact with him in such a calculated way like they do. Idk I just think it’s nice. Also Cloud does share Yuffie’s motion sickness, they bond over it endgame if you date her in OG.
The date with Aerith put a new perspective to the end game right? Also the dialogue is slightly different with completely different face reaction of Aerith about "the next time"
There was not one date in this game that wasn't perfect. Totally nailed it. They all demonstrate a different element of Cloud, while showing how shut down the events of Nibelhiem left him. As much as I wanted to get the Tifa date on my first play, I made sure to get the Aerith date for 'literary canonicity,' if that makes sense. Of course, in real life if your idol murders your mother in front of you and you blame yourself for it, physical intimacy with your surviving loved ones will be agonizing until you work that out. The garden scene in Remake with Tifa pretty much showed the absolute worst part of PTSD. In the Tifa date, one can interpret her nervousness after getting off the sky wheel as an indication that Cloud might have freaked out again away from our eyes. Loved playing punches with Yuffie, and Red's 'come on come on come on' was classic!

@@TonyKanameKuran I would never try to troll anyone. :) I read did it, I thought it was fantastic. Especially the third part that added new characters. Anyone who's played the compilation and is well adjusted know Cloud and Tifa are right for each other lol. But why are you so defensive? It's just a game. A story. You don't have to get mad about it. I did sort of tease you though, maybe it sounded meaner than I meant it to. I didn't think you'd take it so personal. By literary canon I meant that if they only had one scene for the sky wheel, the date would Aerith would help disguise the real truth. Like in the original how the game led you towards Aerith first for original players before the lifestream memory sequence blew our minds. If you want me to be honest with you, I think Cloud and Tifa is probably one of the best romances in video games, and on my original OG play through, having already known the story from a friend, I made sure to get Tifa. But I was a teenager then, and like lots of teenagers, a hopeless romantic. Then I got older and learned while the romance in stories is fun, the real life romance is better off the charts. I still kept my love for story telling though, and grew to like it when characters go through harder adversity before they get the good spoils. But I'll tell you one thing seriously, if you meet someone in real life who has gone through a mortally traumatic experience, fixing them is a lot harder. That's what's fun about a fantasy story though. Supernatural stuff can serve to tell a story of extremes when characters go through stuff that in real life would destroy you, but still end up happy in the end. My first comment was just to say that I loved the game, and to throw in a little insight, not to rain on anyone's parade. We're all passionate about this awesome game if we're on this awesome channel.

I love your reaction, so natural 😊😊 Aerith's date is Cloud being nice for doing what she asked (physical intimacy) by saying "just till the ride's over" and Cloud gave her that, the most he could do is to hold her hand (in the Standard version, he didn't do anything and even look away, it's even super duper awkward lol), after they got off the gondola he said 'i didn't do anything' as if he did nothing special in particular (this outcome is the same in both Standard and Intimate date)

There are multiple ways to view Aerith’s date - like possibly romantic or Cloud trying to be supportive. But Tifa’s date can realistically ONLY be viewed as romantic. To view Tifa’s date in an unromantic way would require degrading Clouds character.
@@tonymaccaroni1683 from what I know, Aerith’s date segment is translated as this "While Aeris reveals when she first met Cloud she saw Zack in him, she directly expresses her favorability towards Cloud, amidst the fireworks she leans on Clouds shoulder." This has nothing to do with Cloud’s perspective - none of the dates in the Ultimania show Cloud’s feelings. Yes it can be viewed as romantic, but it can also be viewed from Cloud’s perspective as him supporting Aerith in her time of need. It is totally viable to perceive it either way.

Aerith's date is romantic aswell. Read the ultimania. The concept of "koibito tsunagi" (lovers's tie) just doesn't resonate as much with westerners than it does in Japan. Or you could say in Asia in general.
All of the dates show Cloud’s different dynamics with the characters. And I love how much thought and care the devs put into them! I would like to anayalze Tifa's a bit more. While Cloud is very awkward, there are small things he does in the date that shows his interest. When Tifa asked what the wheel does this was the only date Cloud responded positively "worth a shot". On the other dates he ignored the question. Cloud also stares at Tifa in the fireworks in comparison to Aerith’s where he actually looks at the fireworks and not at her. Aerith scoots in closer to Cloud while Cloud scoots in closer to Tifa. These are the small details that can be unnoticed on a first watch. Tifa questions herself wondering if she got ahead of herself just like the water tower scene. She expected something more only to know Cloud was leaving. But this time Cloud confirms his mutual feelings and then kisses her. There is a low affection scene where it just ends with the hug. But even without the hug this is the only LA that has Cloud still confirming his feelings even without the intimate act of a kiss. Cloud and Tifa are two introverts that hold a lot of trauma but they yearn for each other deeply. Being able to be honest with Tifa is something his real self has wanted to do for the longest time. The romance is very nicely written 👌 Glad you enjoyed Rebirth as a whole!
A lot of comments saying Aerith isn’t viewed as romantic. Square Enix themselves, you know the people that actually made the game, called Aerith’s date romantic in the Rebirth Ultimania. Hope that helps clear things up 😃

I mean sure but it's still a lot less romantic than his date with Tifa. This also comes out at a time when they've had a bad earnings call and aren't likely to say anything that will piss anyone off too much. So it's hard to know how seriously we should take safe statements like that.
The Aerith date is so interesting because you have to remember that Cloud literally just remembered who Zack was and that he existed. Now you're in a situation where your dead bro's girlfriend is saying that she wants to be with you. Even if you had feelings for her from this journey you've shared, would you immediately reciprocate or would you be confused on what to do? On top of that, Aerith talks about "finding you," which if you haven't played OG, will make sense in part 3, along with why Cloud is so awkward. On the other hand, to me, Tifa and Cloud come off as two people who bond over a shared trauma, which can be a slippery slope. But regardless of all this, I still believe in Cloud x Esther!
The foundation of Aerith and Cloud’s connection is based on Zack. Aerith was drawn to Cloud because of this soldier persona which is based on Zack’s memories. A persona that Cloud himself doesn’t even realise yet. To me, this seems like more of a slippery slope for a possible long term relationship.

She knows that he isn't Zack, and knows that he is a different person: "But you're not him, and that's okay." She sees there's a difference and has seen glimpses of the real Cloud, the one she wants to know more about, and the side that she is falling for (I mean I guess depending on your perspective cuz everyone sees these relationships differently).

I think it’s difficult to judge how Cloud really feels in all of this as nothing is clearly stated from his side. The closest we get to Cloud showing his feelings is the optional admittance to Tifa in her date. I also feel that with this added Zack plot and the way the devs have been teasing his reunion with Aerith (like the cosmo canyon scene), the direction of the relationships could go any way. So far, it definitely depends on how the player interprets the interactions as everything is done in a way that is purposefully ambiguous. My preference is probably quite obvious by now 😆 but I honestly hope they just end the debate in part 3. I don’t even care which side ‘wins’; it’s just so sad how toxic the community is.
Interesting, so you almost need to play each of the core group to get the full picture. Tifa: romance denied finally coming forward. Simple, yet beautiful complexity just the same. Aerith: she seems to be trying to break Cloud out of his shell. She knows something is going to happen to her. Her body language says fear, need for comfort, as she leans against Cloud. Interesting that both women lie to him about discussing Zack. Yuffie: realized she has a slight crush on him (hand on heart, slightly breathless). Actually has a Zack discussion. Ends with them bonding more like siblings before she becomes awkward again. Barrett: advice from an uncle. He's telling Cloud not to hide his feelings till it's too late. Red/Nanaki: simple friendship, yet he too still seems to sense something dire in Aerith's future and is trying to help Cloud prevent it. Cid, Vincent, Cait: since you don't actually *have* a relationship measurement with them, I guess this awkwardness is to be expected. Also fun, if not a mod, but apparently you can go back into the date with the alternate outfits you earned. Yes, 😝 that does mean beachwear Tifa and Aerith, Sailor Barrett. Be fun though if also includes the Loveless costumes, which it sounded like you said you got, Mandy? I don't recall, I was still reeling from the emotional backlash of that ending. 😓

I think people put too much emphasis on Cloud's feelings for Aerith, but in actuality, just like the other commenter said, Cloud thinks Zack drowned. He wants to tell her he died but how will she take it? How to put it into words for a girl who still likes her MIA bf? In the Gongaga scene, in the Japanese version, she said 'yes' or 'that's right' to still liking Zack not 'maybe' like in the English version.
Narratively IMO aerith makes more sense, it feels very weird that if you get the tifa date whether LA or HA, afterwards Cloud gets a non optional date with Aerith, Marlene confirms Aerith's feelings for Cloud and point out that he's the ONE who has to save her. Not only that that but the game heavily focused on Cloud and Aerith against Sephiroth they are the trio of ff7 after all, hero and heroine working together to stop the villian. It has been confirmed that the dates are more like fanservice that dont affect the main plot, but those encounters mentioned that involve Aerith ARE part of the main plot that happen at the final chapter. I went Aerith's route so i was just enjoying it all the way 😅 No shade to tifa i love her i just dont ship her with Cloud and see them more as friends. Regardless Cloud cares for both of them but the differences are really obvious

Aerith has feelings for Cloud but the question is, does he feel the same for her? Up in the air. The game focuses mostly on Cloud, Aerith and Sephiroth? Really? Let's completely ignore all the times Sephiroth comes in between Tifa and Cloud, tries to get her killed and even tries to kill her. The only time Sephi showed interest in Aerith was towards the end of the game. Then again, Aerith's big moment was her death scene. So makes sense that we are spending more time with her...for memories. And no, the devs never said the dates were 'more like fanservice'. The Ultimania never used that word.
As an Aerith x Cloud kind of guy I absolutely loved all the scenes they shared. For me it just confirms that they love each other. Just like Tifa's scenes/date confirms they love each other. Cloud loves both and it's up to the player to decide which route they go. Seeing Cloud interact with ghost/lifestream/whatever Aerith is going to absolutely break my heart because he doesn't know she's gone. I love Cloud and Tifa as well but Aerith has always been my preference since I played the OG back when I was a kid haha. Anyways I'm hoping for multiple endings in part 3 where everyone gets their happy ending. The dates were all really balanced. Aerith/Tifa were romantic depending on player choice. Yuffie talks about Tifa. Red talks about Aerith and Barrett is supposed to be neutral. You can interpret his advice for both Aerith and Tifa. The "don't wait until it's too late" was definitely a nod towards Aerith's fate. Cloud obviously doesn't say who because Square Enix infamously refuses to make one couple canon which is understandable. The others date was just the silly one where only Cait Sith is enjoying himself until the others ruin it for him haha.

It's so simple and clear that Tifa has always been Cloud's canon romance, that the fact that Square Enix continues to make money by taking advantage of not making it canon is spectacular. Even so, Square Enix itself knows perfectly well that Tifa is the canon romance and the one that makes sense narratively because of how the script is written. That is why that date is by far the one that demonstrates a credible romantic conclusion and with official gestures to understand that.

Cloud and Aerith isn't romantic. Throughout the game, she is constantly alluding how isolated she was was growing up and the cosmo canyon scene pretty much explains she is just looking for friends to love. Cloud and Tifa are the clear romance (and Aerith and Zack), but Cloud and Aerith's relationship is more interesting, because it suggests a guy and a girl can be intimate and close without romance getting in the way, which is something in our real world we dont have enough of.
Comments like these that completely undermines Aerith and Cloud’s relationship is always sad to see. Cloud loves both. Always has and always will. You guys hear Square Enix constantly refusing to make one canon and saying they want the players to interpret whoever they want then write your own headcanon while completely ignoring what the people who made the game say.

His behavior is characteristic of a guy who has his heart set on one woman, but is keeping the other on the side since she's coming on to him anyway and is easily a fallback. Does fully explains why he pushes back on her more in rebirth than in remake, because he doesn't want her hitting on him when Tifa is around. Whether that's the Canon explanation or not it certainly explains why he's so much more aggressively in love with Tifa, but doesn't COMPLETELY reject the Aerith.
Aerith may not be resurrected in FF7 remake part 3. This is to allow the story of FF7 remake part 3 to connect with the story of FF7 Advent Children, but I think SQUARE ENIX may resurrect Aerith in the new FF7 series of games in the future.
I doubt that Aerith will be resurrected. However, we will witness the reunion of Aerith and her man Zack in the alt timeline while in the real world Tifa will try to save Cloud once they enter into the lifestream.

I'm not sure if you realize that Yuffie is talking about Zack. Maybe she made the treasure-hunting quest on Crisis Core to connect continuously with Zack. Yuffie had a crush on Zack. This is why I love the Yuffie date more.
Aeriths date is the most important of them all, because its about Aeriths development. And out of all Skywheel dates, its the only one that wasnt changed from the OG. Its interesting that even on Tifas date, it comes back to Aerith and Zack. Cloud made a face as he embraced Tifa before the kiss. He has this "Did my fart stink?" Face. XD Probably the guy was thinking on Aerith, still being jealous over Zack, thinking Aerith didnt move on and embrace Tifa with that face. Made me laugh. XD The hand holding scene reminds me on Disneys Taarzan and Jane hand touching scene. It felt personal, soft and intimate, especially at the very end when Jane has to leave Tarzan behind. QwQ
You always see aerith fans claiming that their date is the most important/canon like bruh pretty sure the devs said none of the dates are 'canon' and are all important to cloud.
None of the above dates really impacts the main story at all. They are there for the RP aspect of the game, to culminate the player's joy so that Sephiroth will reap the sorrow at the end. The devs try their best to please everyone with all those date scene, they already talked about that.

If they're going to go this far to canonize cloud and Tifa being a thing, then they should absolutely either retcon AC or fix it. Allegedly they're in a relationship in AC but then they sleep in separate beds and don't even have their own kids? So stupid, and now inconsistent as of this game.
Where does it say that they are in a relationship in AC? Even in the game manual of DoC which happens after AC, they are dpicted as friends. So there's a lot of canon stuff they'd have to undo to make them a couple.
They’re not in a relationship in AC and if they are then they must’ve broken up before Dirge of Cerberus because that’s the last installment in VII and it calls Tifa Cloud’s friend.
@@nickmurkel2469 But we will see where they will go with part 3. A lot of people misunderstand what the devs were communicating when they said this trilogy will link up to AC. If you followed the story closely, you saw that they already linked up with AC to certain extend, but this doesn't mean that the ending of part 3 will lead into AC. From all they have set up I am pretty sure this will not be the case. Hamaguchi specificates in one interview that this trilogy is a world on it's own and not necessarily bound to the rest of the canon.

It was funny, she started having romantic feelings for him like a typical teenager but plays it cool cause she is embarassed. XD
And I think the two of them are the best fighting duo in the game. If Yuffie was in the party, we took down whatever we were fighting in no time. She was the best melee and ranged physical fighter, and could even change elements on a whim. I love how they paired them up in the Sephiroth fight, beast mode.

Barrett's date in the original was funny, this time around it's more reflective to Cloud and the audience. Barrett really hammers in the idea of when you find someone that's real to you, don't let them pass by, and even if you get denied, like he did with Myrna, reflect on what you should do to improve yourself. Yuffie's date is super sweet. Cloud is attentive to what she needs in the moment and plays along like a real big brother.

I just wished the first dating choice could be done differently. It is hard (and a bit out of char) to be rude with party members just for the sake of keeping higher relationship with someone. Also, it affects the playthrough experience, coz we are overly aware of the dating mechanics throughout ALL game and instead of just enjoying side quests at our leisure, we are always avoiding specific quests (and synnergies as well)

This was one of the best moments of the game for me because it was the first time seeing this part in game as I hadn’t made it to the Skywheel stuff in the OG game and I totally get why people love this part of the game plus the outcomes where so good and totally worth revisiting this part again in chapter select my favourites are the obvious picks of Aerith, Tifa and Yuffie but they did such a great job on all of them
Kinda with Yuffie on this one. Great date idea but the motion sickness deal would be a struggle.
Man this will always be my main criticism of this game. I wish we had more of these one on one interactions. These scenes were fantastic and showed how different Cloud’s relationship was with each person.

Honestly, as weird as it sounds... Yuffie's date feels like the one where "The Real Cloud" shone through the most. But... for those who know... they know why.

In a vacuum, I feel Yuffie's date is the best one. Of course Tifa's my favorite, but whoever did the script for Yuffie's needs a raise.
Nomura came up with the idea to include her crush on Zack, so the script for Yuffie's date is probably a team effort by Nojima, Toriyama, and Nomura.
The Aerith date feels...needy and somber at the same time. I'm watching it and wondering why Cloud has that kind of expression on his face, the frowning, looking afar and downward smile and his body is mostly turned away from her. Yes he smiled a bit during the chocobo part. He seems especially bothered after asking her about whether Tifa has said anything to her. Like how is he supposed to tell her, her bf is dead as he said before, 'she deserves to know'.
To me the hand holding wasn't out of romantic feelings but rather kindness. He came to his senses and stopped being standoffish towards her. At the end of that date, Aerith thanked him and all he said was 'But I didn't do anything'. Like them holding hands didn't really mean anything to him. Whereas with Tifa, they got off, both shy and awkward because of what happened between them.
Yuffie's date was the most fun and interesting I must say. And to add to that, she references Tifa in regards to Cloud many times throughout the game.
Just to add (after someone said i'm invalidating others), I am not trying to downplay the romantic element of Aerith's date. When she said she wanted to be with Cloud, I do find that romantic. However, I feel it's one-sided as I take into account that she made the most initiative to reach out to him, and his demeanour isn't that of a guy who's enjoying his date. Breaking the news to her about Zack's death is weighing on him otherwise what is the point of him asking her about the talk with Tifa, about the loser whom he told her to forget about? I'm paying attention to these nuances (maybe a little too much) because I'm trying to understand the story.
This is only my point of view of course. You guys can look at it however you want. Ship whomever you want. This is the comment section. People can exchange thoughts here.
You can prefer Aerith or Tifa with Cloud, but the GS dates with both women are clearly intended to be romantic. Denying that they're romantic is just participating in toxic shipping culture where one side feels the need to invalidate the other side out of ...jealousy, I guess? How silly. Cloud's love interest is up to player choice, hence the affinity system. If you ship Aerith with Cloud, be happy and if you ship Cloud with Tifa, be happy because at the end of the day, you have romantic scenes to enjoy.

First meeting outside the room: the reason why Tifa ask Cloud because all party member going off their own on skywhell leaving Tifa alone, thats why she go to Cloud cause she had no one else to go with. I find it weird that Cloud brings up about talking to Aerith about Zack in his date. My assumption is because Cloud wants to know / confirmation about if Aerith still likes Zack or not from Tifa. Even when Tifa says "Not yet" talking to Aerith, Cloud still assume Aerith still like Zack.
Cloud kiss with Tifa is a reaction to his jealousy and uncertainty about Aerith feelings, he seizes the moment to address his unresolved emotions. He probably is aware that Tifa tried to kiss him in Gongaga, and how she feels about him. This act is self-indulgent, aligning with his character ego protecting trajectory at this stage.
Real life comparison: Its like if you found out your girlfriend is cheating on you, and you want to get even / revenge / try torget it by dating someone else even if you dont really like the person you are dating.
I think this was the devs intention of kinda telling you "this date is not Canon", they could have put the talk about zack in non optional scene outside of date.
Aerith Date
First meeting outside the room: Aerith made it clear that she want to be with Cloud in Skywheel as couple
With Aerith date, Cloud asking about Zack make sense, because he wants to see the reaction of Aerith and direct confirmation if she still like Zack or not.
After Aerith confirms that she only want to be with Cloud right now, Cloud looks happy, but still unsure, thats why Aerith aproach his shoulder to confirm it even more that she is moveon from zack. Only then Cloud finaly have the courage to hold her hand.

I see alot of Cloti fans always said that Tifa is very supportive, but on the date Tifa seems cant even trust Cloud on how Chocobo Racing is played after Cloud explain it (i know she doesnt say this with ill intent... but comparing with aerith dialogue is night and day)

As it is up to the players and players will favour their favourite girl then that is going to be their choice for Cloud's romantic partner. It is also the players choice to see if the dates are romantic or something else. So as a player of the game myself, I do not find Aerith's and Cloud's date to be romantic based on everything I have said in my original comment. I also did not invalid anyone's ship as I used the words, ' I'm watching it...' and 'To me...' hence making it clear that this is from my own point of view and not a representation for the messes.

@@jasminelily94 I've rewatch the Gongaga scene a few times and I do not find "Forget about that loser" to be a statement of Jealousy. I am comparing his behaviour to his jealous moments with other guys interaction with Tifa and I am not feeling that same amount of jealousy with Aerith's situation. Rather, 'that loser' went MIA not only on his gf but his parents too. An advice anyone would give to a friend if their bf/gf ghosted them. I also find it interesting that as he said "Forget about that loser", he finished that sentence while looking at Tifa rather then Aerith, whom the message is intended for. Interpret it however you want.

So, what about it? This happens for all the other dates, correct,? Not just Tifa's. I can also argue he smiles at the other characters as well and he smiles a lot at Tifa too. So really, what about that smile? Open to interpretation. It's a non optional scene to show Aerith wrote the song to make sense of her singing it later on.

Err, you really are reading this as 'Everything is about Aerith' huh? You just decided that is what the devs wanted for the players to see. If this is the case, then they could have made A x C date as non optional just like they made Cloud giving the flower to Tifa. If anything, this scene is to show us players a glimpse of what is to come in chapter 14, where Cloud and Aerith consciousness got transported to the alternate timeline. They cannot be awake in two places at once it seems. Anyways, from what I've heard, in the rebirth ultimania, the devs said there is no canon date and to watch all the dates.

Ok at least you use the words 'my assumption' because I strongly disagree with you. My take on this. Cloud and Tifa had a moment in Nibel where Cloud believes Zack drowned and he said, 'She has a right to know" and Tifa offers to tell Aerith instead (remember, her account of the incident is different from his). His enquiry is not about Aerith's feelings for Zack because that is not what they talked about. It's about letting Aerith know what happened to Zack. Isn't this very obvious? And also it's a way for us players to know that Tifa and Aerith had that talk. Also, given there was an awkward silence between them, Cloud could brought up that topic as a means of having a conversation and the only time he can ask her about it without anyone else around.

My brain died a little reading this part. How you come up with this assumption boggles me. First of all, FF7 is not that kind of story. So don't bring in some revenge drama story into this. And Cloud is not that kind of character to use someone for his own gain. He is mentioned to be loyal. He will never do that to Tifa because he really cares about her whether he likes her romantically or not doesn't matter. Your take on this part tells me that you do not understand the story nor the characters. Cloud has every opportunity to Kiss Aerith when she told him that she wanted to be with him. That's a greenlight to make his move. So why didn't the devs do it then? And like I mentioned before, the devs have said NONE of the date is more important than the other.
I agree with you that the Devs could have put the Zack topic between Aerith and Tifa in a non-optional scene for those who do not get either of the girls' date. But i think they just wanted it to be exclusive for just them. The devs also wanted players to check out the other dates.

Girl, the Devs themselves say Cloud is himself around Tifa. And Tifa already knows the real him so why on earth would she ask to meet the real him??? In REMAKE before they climb the wall to rescue Aerith, Tifa said, "You're actually a nice guy'. He can act all tough and be smug about being a soldier but she knows him.

I too do not find Cloud and Zack to be similar and I do not buy too much into the theory that Cloud has Zack's memory mixed up with his. More like he copies Zack's behaviour via observation but does a bad job at it. Aerith has more similarities with Zack than Cloud does personality-wise, honestly. But Cloud doesn't see it that way. In chpt 1 we see young Cloud acting like Zack, doing that arm swing while squatting, being outgoing and smiling more too. He is also not aware that others see him as a loner until Barret teased him and he was surprised about it.

Well I can't comment much on this since i have not looked deeper into it and have not encountered any comments made by the devs that says More Character Affinity = Cloud Loves Them Romantically . I've check out the link you've posted but it doesn't explain much. What this tells me is that she's very important to the story and not to mentioned there's the HA and LA option in the Chpt 14 church scene, which tells where Cloud (us the players) and her stand, romantic or platonic. Not sure if you're aware, but in the LA scene, in the Japanese version, he calls her 'nakama' meaning comrade and she looked a little disappointed after that. Unless you can provide evidence back-up by interviews or text by the devs as to why Aerith has more Affinity, I'm just going to think, 'if she's easy, she ain't the one' lol.

He doesn't feel the same way about Zack's death? Why would he? He was incapacitated at the time to do anything about it. But he did felt guilty about forgetting about him.
As for Aerith, he was right beside her and yet he failed to deflect Sephiroth's sword. In OTWTS Cloud was doing well and was trying to moved on despite the lingering guilt until Elmyra asks him to send flowers to the Forbidden city and that affected him. In fact, he has a more positive attitude then Tifa at this point. And let's not pretend Cloud is the only one suffering from immense guilt about Aerith. Tifa's the same even after two years and wondered if they had done everything they could to save her.
What does he not answering his phone got to do with Aerith? He clearly explained to Marlene why he left. It wasn't because of Aerith but because he felt useless and unfit to care for others. I can also see why Cloud lives in Aerith's Church. He has nowhere to go and the church is abandoned and a familiar place.

Be it Dirge or FF7 lore, Tifa and Cloud are referred to as Childhood friends but yet the REMAKE games are giving us all this moments where they clearly have more than platonic feelings for each other. Also during the lifestream moments and 2000 gil to becoming a hero, he stated he wanted to impress her. Why her? Why not his mom? Why not do it to show off to the other boys in his village that he's better than them?

Never expected a boy's night with Cloud, cait, Cid, and Vincent😂. But I really like how all the dates show different sides of Cloud and his dynamics with his party. Tifa date is still my favorite because years of shipping finally pays off.

The main reason I like Yuffie and Cloud’s relationship, and maybe I read too much into stuff, is that I feel like it’s very genuine compared to the others. Excluding that she’s going to [redacted], she’s not hiding things from Cloud like the others, she’s not privy to the same info as the others, so she doesn’t interact with him in such a calculated way like they do.
Idk I just think it’s nice. Also Cloud does share Yuffie’s motion sickness, they bond over it endgame if you date her in OG.
The date with Aerith put a new perspective to the end game right? Also the dialogue is slightly different with completely different face reaction of Aerith about "the next time"

There was not one date in this game that wasn't perfect. Totally nailed it. They all demonstrate a different element of Cloud, while showing how shut down the events of Nibelhiem left him. As much as I wanted to get the Tifa date on my first play, I made sure to get the Aerith date for 'literary canonicity,' if that makes sense. Of course, in real life if your idol murders your mother in front of you and you blame yourself for it, physical intimacy with your surviving loved ones will be agonizing until you work that out. The garden scene in Remake with Tifa pretty much showed the absolute worst part of PTSD. In the Tifa date, one can interpret her nervousness after getting off the sky wheel as an indication that Cloud might have freaked out again away from our eyes. Loved playing punches with Yuffie, and Red's 'come on come on come on' was classic!

Anyone who's played the compilation and is well adjusted know Cloud and Tifa are right for each other lol. But why are you so defensive? It's just a game. A story.
You don't have to get mad about it. I did sort of tease you though, maybe it sounded meaner than I meant it to. I didn't think you'd take it so personal.
By literary canon I meant that if they only had one scene for the sky wheel, the date would Aerith would help disguise the real truth. Like in the original how the game led you towards Aerith first for original players before the lifestream memory sequence blew our minds. If you want me to be honest with you, I think Cloud and Tifa is probably one of the best romances in video games, and on my original OG play through, having already known the story from a friend, I made sure to get Tifa. But I was a teenager then, and like lots of teenagers, a hopeless romantic. Then I got older and learned while the romance in stories is fun, the real life romance is better off the charts. I still kept my love for story telling though, and grew to like it when characters go through harder adversity before they get the good spoils.
But I'll tell you one thing seriously, if you meet someone in real life who has gone through a mortally traumatic experience, fixing them is a lot harder. That's what's fun about a fantasy story though. Supernatural stuff can serve to tell a story of extremes when characters go through stuff that in real life would destroy you, but still end up happy in the end. My first comment was just to say that I loved the game, and to throw in a little insight, not to rain on anyone's parade. We're all passionate about this awesome game if we're on this awesome channel.

Aerith's date is Cloud being nice for doing what she asked (physical intimacy) by saying "just till the ride's over" and Cloud gave her that, the most he could do is to hold her hand (in the Standard version, he didn't do anything and even look away, it's even super duper awkward lol), after they got off the gondola he said 'i didn't do anything' as if he did nothing special in particular (this outcome is the same in both Standard and Intimate date)

There are multiple ways to view Aerith’s date - like possibly romantic or Cloud trying to be supportive. But Tifa’s date can realistically ONLY be viewed as romantic. To view Tifa’s date in an unromantic way would require degrading Clouds character.

This has nothing to do with Cloud’s perspective - none of the dates in the Ultimania show Cloud’s feelings. Yes it can be viewed as romantic, but it can also be viewed from Cloud’s perspective as him supporting Aerith in her time of need. It is totally viable to perceive it either way.
They didn't show it on camera, but Cloud later got to 2nd base with Tifa on their date. Atta boy!

There's no canon choice. If you want to make an argument for it though then by default it's Aerith.
Aerith's date is romantic aswell. Read the ultimania. The concept of "koibito tsunagi" (lovers's tie) just doesn't resonate as much with westerners than it does in Japan. Or you could say in Asia in general.

All of the dates show Cloud’s different dynamics with the characters. And I love how much thought and care the devs put into them!
I would like to anayalze Tifa's a bit more. While Cloud is very awkward, there are small things he does in the date that shows his interest. When Tifa asked what the wheel does this was the only date Cloud responded positively "worth a shot". On the other dates he ignored the question.
Cloud also stares at Tifa in the fireworks in comparison to Aerith’s where he actually looks at the fireworks and not at her. Aerith scoots in closer to Cloud while Cloud scoots in closer to Tifa. These are the small details that can be unnoticed on a first watch.
Tifa questions herself wondering if she got ahead of herself just like the water tower scene. She expected something more only to know Cloud was leaving. But this time Cloud confirms his mutual feelings and then kisses her.
There is a low affection scene where it just ends with the hug. But even without the hug this is the only LA that has Cloud still confirming his feelings even without the intimate act of a kiss.
Cloud and Tifa are two introverts that hold a lot of trauma but they yearn for each other deeply. Being able to be honest with Tifa is something his real self has wanted to do for the longest time. The romance is very nicely written 👌

The Aerith date is so interesting because you have to remember that Cloud literally just remembered who Zack was and that he existed. Now you're in a situation where your dead bro's girlfriend is saying that she wants to be with you. Even if you had feelings for her from this journey you've shared, would you immediately reciprocate or would you be confused on what to do? On top of that, Aerith talks about "finding you," which if you haven't played OG, will make sense in part 3, along with why Cloud is so awkward. On the other hand, to me, Tifa and Cloud come off as two people who bond over a shared trauma, which can be a slippery slope. But regardless of all this, I still believe in Cloud x Esther!

The foundation of Aerith and Cloud’s connection is based on Zack. Aerith was drawn to Cloud because of this soldier persona which is based on Zack’s memories. A persona that Cloud himself doesn’t even realise yet. To me, this seems like more of a slippery slope for a possible long term relationship.

She knows that he isn't Zack, and knows that he is a different person: "But you're not him, and that's okay." She sees there's a difference and has seen glimpses of the real Cloud, the one she wants to know more about, and the side that she is falling for (I mean I guess depending on your perspective cuz everyone sees these relationships differently).

I think it’s difficult to judge how Cloud really feels in all of this as nothing is clearly stated from his side. The closest we get to Cloud showing his feelings is the optional admittance to Tifa in her date. I also feel that with this added Zack plot and the way the devs have been teasing his reunion with Aerith (like the cosmo canyon scene), the direction of the relationships could go any way.
So far, it definitely depends on how the player interprets the interactions as everything is done in a way that is purposefully ambiguous. My preference is probably quite obvious by now 😆 but I honestly hope they just end the debate in part 3. I don’t even care which side ‘wins’; it’s just so sad how toxic the community is.

Yuffie: realized she has a slight crush on him (hand on heart, slightly breathless). Actually has a Zack discussion. Ends with them bonding more like siblings before she becomes awkward again.
Barrett: advice from an uncle. He's telling Cloud not to hide his feelings till it's too late.
Red/Nanaki: simple friendship, yet he too still seems to sense something dire in Aerith's future and is trying to help Cloud prevent it.
Cid, Vincent, Cait: since you don't actually *have* a relationship measurement with them, I guess this awkwardness is to be expected.

Narratively IMO aerith makes more sense, it feels very weird that if you get the tifa date whether LA or HA, afterwards Cloud gets a non optional date with Aerith, Marlene confirms Aerith's feelings for Cloud and point out that he's the ONE who has to save her. Not only that that but the game heavily focused on Cloud and Aerith against Sephiroth they are the trio of ff7 after all, hero and heroine working together to stop the villian. It has been confirmed that the dates are more like fanservice that dont affect the main plot, but those encounters mentioned that involve Aerith ARE part of the main plot that happen at the final chapter. I went Aerith's route so i was just enjoying it all the way 😅 No shade to tifa i love her i just dont ship her with Cloud and see them more as friends. Regardless Cloud cares for both of them but the differences are really obvious

The game focuses mostly on Cloud, Aerith and Sephiroth? Really? Let's completely ignore all the times Sephiroth comes in between Tifa and Cloud, tries to get her killed and even tries to kill her. The only time Sephi showed interest in Aerith was towards the end of the game. Then again, Aerith's big moment was her death scene. So makes sense that we are spending more time with her...for memories.

As an Aerith x Cloud kind of guy I absolutely loved all the scenes they shared. For me it just confirms that they love each other. Just like Tifa's scenes/date confirms they love each other. Cloud loves both and it's up to the player to decide which route they go. Seeing Cloud interact with ghost/lifestream/whatever Aerith is going to absolutely break my heart because he doesn't know she's gone. I love Cloud and Tifa as well but Aerith has always been my preference since I played the OG back when I was a kid haha. Anyways I'm hoping for multiple endings in part 3 where everyone gets their happy ending.
The dates were all really balanced. Aerith/Tifa were romantic depending on player choice. Yuffie talks about Tifa. Red talks about Aerith and Barrett is supposed to be neutral. You can interpret his advice for both Aerith and Tifa. The "don't wait until it's too late" was definitely a nod towards Aerith's fate. Cloud obviously doesn't say who because Square Enix infamously refuses to make one couple canon which is understandable. The others date was just the silly one where only Cait Sith is enjoying himself until the others ruin it for him haha.
SE ssid that all dates are canon and plays in different worlds. But not all dates fir in the main plot, which was an answer to Tifas Date. ^^

It's so simple and clear that Tifa has always been Cloud's canon romance, that the fact that Square Enix continues to make money by taking advantage of not making it canon is spectacular.
Even so, Square Enix itself knows perfectly well that Tifa is the canon romance and the one that makes sense narratively because of how the script is written. That is why that date is by far the one that demonstrates a credible romantic conclusion and with official gestures to understand that.
Square doesn't have the balls to make Cloti canon because a lot of Aerith cultists are straight up unhinged

First meeting outside the room: the reason why Tifa ask Cloud because all party member going off their own on skywhell leaving Tifa alone, thats why she go to Cloud cause she had no one else to go with. I find it weird that Cloud brings up about talking to Aerith about Zack in his date. My assumption is because Cloud wants to know / confirmation about if Aerith still likes Zack or not from Tifa. Even when Tifa says "Not yet" talking to Aerith, Cloud still assume Aerith still like Zack.
Cloud kiss with Tifa is a reaction to his jealousy and uncertainty about Aerith feelings, he seizes the moment to address his unresolved emotions. He probably is aware that Tifa tried to kiss him in Gongaga, and how she feels about him. This act is self-indulgent, aligning with his character ego protecting trajectory at this stage.
Real life comparison: Its like if you found out your girlfriend is cheating on you, and you want to get even / revenge / try torget it by dating someone else even if you dont really like the person you are dating.
I think this was the devs intention of kinda telling you "this date is not Canon", they could have put the talk about zack in non optional scene outside of date.

With Aerith date, Cloud asking about Zack make sense, because he wants to see the reaction of Aerith and direct confirmation if she still like Zack or not.
After Aerith confirms that she only want to be with Cloud right now, Cloud looks happy, but still unsure, thats why Aerith aproach his shoulder to confirm it even more that she is moveon from zack. Only then Cloud finaly have the courage to hold her hand.

Cloud and Aerith isn't romantic. Throughout the game, she is constantly alluding how isolated she was was growing up and the cosmo canyon scene pretty much explains she is just looking for friends to love. Cloud and Tifa are the clear romance (and Aerith and Zack), but Cloud and Aerith's relationship is more interesting, because it suggests a guy and a girl can be intimate and close without romance getting in the way, which is something in our real world we dont have enough of.

I don't know what the Canon explanation is but I can tell you what is behavior is characteristic of.
His behavior is characteristic of a guy who has his heart set on one woman, but is keeping the other on the side since she's coming on to him anyway and is easily a fallback. Does fully explains why he pushes back on her more in rebirth than in remake, because he doesn't want her hitting on him when Tifa is around.
Whether that's the Canon explanation or not it certainly explains why he's so much more aggressively in love with Tifa, but doesn't COMPLETELY reject the Aerith.

Aerith may not be resurrected in FF7 remake part 3. This is to allow the story of FF7 remake part 3 to connect with the story of FF7 Advent Children, but I think SQUARE ENIX may resurrect Aerith in the new FF7 series of games in the future.
I doubt that Aerith will be resurrected. However, we will witness the reunion of Aerith and her man Zack in the alt timeline while in the real world Tifa will try to save Cloud once they enter into the lifestream.
I don't even think she needs to be resurrected. Cloud saved her, but his consciousness was moved into a doomed world, where he failed. It's Sephiroth toying with him and trying to break him.

In reality, Cloud and Tifa are the hero and heroine of Final Fantasy VII while Aerith, her boyfriend Zack are two of the supporting characters. Now that Aerith is brutally killed by Sephiroth, she's not coming back. The only exception is that the now immortal ancient is going to be reunited with Zack in his alt timeline. And in part 3, Cloud ends up with the final stage of mako poisoning... completely effed up. Tifa will be the leading character who will do everything in her power to help her man Cloud. When these two whisk away into the lifestream, Tifa is the only character who will restore Cloud's lost memory. When these two get back into the real world, they will share their intimate confessions and then have sex under the highwind before their final confrontation with the murderer Sephiroth.
Final Fantasy VII is not a Disney movie with magic wands, rainbows, unicorns and happy endings. It's evidently a Cloud and Tifa story and a villain who wants to separate the two. If you can't accept the relationship of Cloud & Tifa including the Zack & Aerith reunion in the conclusion, I strongly suggest you to look for a different game.

I'm not sure if you realize that Yuffie is talking about Zack. Maybe she made the treasure-hunting quest on Crisis Core to connect continuously with Zack. Yuffie had a crush on Zack. This is why I love the Yuffie date more.

Probably the guy was thinking on Aerith, still being jealous over Zack, thinking Aerith didnt move on and embrace Tifa with that face. Made me laugh. XD
The hand holding scene reminds me on Disneys Taarzan and Jane hand touching scene. It felt personal, soft and intimate, especially at the very end when Jane has to leave Tarzan behind. QwQ
You always see aerith fans claiming that their date is the most important/canon like bruh pretty sure the devs said none of the dates are 'canon' and are all important to cloud.
What makes me laugh is seeing someone misunderstand the plot and characters of FF7 this badly XD but too each their own i guess.
None of the above dates really impacts the main story at all. They are there for the RP aspect of the game, to culminate the player's joy so that Sephiroth will reap the sorrow at the end.
The devs try their best to please everyone with all those date scene, they already talked about that.

If they're going to go this far to canonize cloud and Tifa being a thing, then they should absolutely either retcon AC or fix it.
Allegedly they're in a relationship in AC but then they sleep in separate beds and don't even have their own kids? So stupid, and now inconsistent as of this game.
Where does it say that they are in a relationship in AC? Even in the game manual of DoC which happens after AC, they are dpicted as friends. So there's a lot of canon stuff they'd have to undo to make them a couple.
They’re not in a relationship in AC and if they are then they must’ve broken up before Dirge of Cerberus because that’s the last installment in VII and it calls Tifa Cloud’s friend.

@@nickmurkel2469 But we will see where they will go with part 3. A lot of people misunderstand what the devs were communicating when they said this trilogy will link up to AC. If you followed the story closely, you saw that they already linked up with AC to certain extend, but this doesn't mean that the ending of part 3 will lead into AC. From all they have set up I am pretty sure this will not be the case.
Hamaguchi specificates in one interview that this trilogy is a world on it's own and not necessarily bound to the rest of the canon.
