I didnt feel it at all in the original but heck after they made her a more fleshed out participant in remake now I can really feel that pain, really does hit the feels more that Cloud truly lost someone very important to him with much more scenes to have players invested of how well they really cared for each other. Just very heartbreaking.
For real, I saw a bunch of comments saying there's no emotion to this one because it couldn't commit one way or the other. Pardon??? I probably deepened my forehead wrinkle from looking so concerned the entire time in temple of the ancients feeling sick to my stomach worrying that she was about to die, cried throughout almost the entire ending sequences and continued to cry about it after the game. I really love Aerith. So...yeah. I felt this. lol
I cried so much at this scene. Even though i truly believe cloud *did* save her(I have a theory I'll put under this main part), I could not help but get so extremely emotional when it showed blood. Here's my theory. Cloud did save aerith and is seeing aerith really there. However, it's the aerith from the timeline he created by blocking sephiroth's sword. There is evidence to support this. Like sephiroth wanting cloud to help him defy destiny and telling cloud he had his blessing and he'd need a final push to join him in defying destiny and merging timelines, how it had the new timeline rainbow efect when cloud blocked sephiroth's sword, how aerith tells cloud "i saw what you did back there. Thanks," how the scene changed when cloud walked past the circle of white whispers surrounding aerith at the end(before walking by them, the group was around aerith. After walking through the whispers, nobody is around), how the wind from the bronco was blowing aerith's hair, how aerith was still standing there saying goodbye after cloud and the others had already flown away, and even more that i cant think of right now off the top of my head. The third game will involve zack trying to make cloud better so that he can save aerith. Not a lot of people seem to remember, but marlene told zack that cloud couldnt save her until hes better. This *has* to have payoff later on. Zack will help to make cloud better so that he can save the aerith from the timeline he made by blocking sephiroth's sword. Then, aerith will be permanently back(she's obviously coming back. She didn't even get her true final weapon in this game) and cloud and aerith will be reunited(theres so much foreshadowing for them being reunited).
I can see it, but at the very end they will still have to fight to return things to the og timeline and wipe all the other timelines from existence, so we will bring her back and then at the very end lose her again for good.
To have left the great ARUUU speechless and soundless for what felt like an eternity.. you know your game has achieved peak emotional impact. As Vision of the MCU articulated, our collective grief for her loss is the perseverance of our undying love for her, and how important she was to each of us. Incredible work by the creators in elevating this scene to even greater heights.
I cried my eyes out when Aerith died in OG FFVII. When it happened in Rebirth? Nothing. There was so much frantic multiverse stuff going on that I didn’t have time to feel anything.
Yeah, me too...I felt that they should have shown Cloud fail to stop Sephiroth, and Aerith is clearly dead. Then show Aerith's brief moment with cloud in a way that was clear that he was back in her "dream". Instead, they confused it a bit and I think lessened two very emotional moments in Rebirth: her death, and when she comes back to fight with Cloud after Zack.
“Please insert disc 2.” I played FF7 decades ago on ps1 and Aerith’s death hit me like a truck. I then stared at the disc swap screen for a while trying to comprehend what happened. I couldn’t do it.
I recently discovered Aruu about a few weeks ago. I loved watching her playthroughs that she posted on TH-cam. She’s such a huge Clerith and she expresses all the time how much she loves Aerith’s character. Which I would say I am as well, which is why I relate to her playthrough so much. However she has not yet posted the last part of her playthrough on youtube so I never got go see her reaction til now. It was utterly heartbreaking 😞.
@@xmant8842 Yeah I think she said she was a multishipper at one point. haha regardless though one thing is sure, she loved Aerith just like alot of us players did. And seeing her cry while she was watching the scene felt like we were mourning a very real cherished friend together.
i remember it like yesterday. over 2 decades ago. i was still a teen. no widespread internet back then. the disbelief. the denial. gripping the controller so hard it creaks. for over two weeks i tried, exhausted every option. replay. save scumming. every corner of the map revisited. every rumor, theory chased and tested. even levelling her up to the max, using various rubber band tricks. winning every single minigame at the gold saucer, to find her final staff. thinking, maybe, just maybe, i didn't do enough to save her. until i find the courage to visit a cyber cafe, and open gamefaqs site. found the answer. every single guide said the same thing. she's gone. then, it finally hit like a truck. oh boy, my first ever gaming depression. found a new purpose after being trashed by Ruby. my first gaming rage. no time to be sad. gotta grind, grind, grind. aah, the good old days.

Maybe a hot take but I gotta say I wasn’t too crazy with how the finale played out.
