► Replacement Clutch ( get the one that fits your car): amzn.to/2NAqdT8
This video will demonstrate how to replace clutch on a/c compressor. Most A/C Compressor will use that design. It is not complicated to replace the clutch. Some cars might differ. Carefully remove the snap rings when replacing the air conditioner clutch because they are spring loaded.

Nice tutorial thanks for sharing blessings 😎
Any directions for a 2006 chrysler 300c 5.7...i think it says you need a puller for the hub or something? Thanks
Thankyou guys, I’m an electrical engineer, so don’t normally work on cars, but I was certain there would be an alternative to a whole new AC compressor, and you just proved it. Thank you 1000 times. Love you work, real repairs!
Hey I've been trying to find an electrical engineer do u stay in Mandeville, Covington, or slidel?
Terrific video guys and I have already joined The Electrical Car Repair Live. Thanks for sharing your time and knowledge 👍
Well done, thanks for the effort in making this video. Very helpful.
LOVE how you kept in that you had trouble at first because the bolt was really tight, real world stuff! Honest video
Very well done guys - great video! I have a Denso 10PA17C ac compressor. Compressor is in good condition, so just changing the clutch, coil and pulley/bearing (2003 Discovery 2). I don't think there's a problem doing this with the compressor still in the engine bay (don't want to disconnect the compressor and lose all the R134a gas) - just have to remove the serpentine belt? Is that correct? Will get the circlip pliers you have linked to.
Very nice video.
Thanks for sharing.
You make great videos! Thorough yet time efficient. I’ve seen a number of them and they have truly been helpful. Also, I love the Israeli accent - charming. I literally try to imitate the way you pronounce some. And you know, imitation is flattery. Great job. Best wishes!
Dobrá práce pánové, děkuji za perfektní návod! 🙂
Trimakasih sangat membantu..i like it
Best channel you guys made it so simple for me I have 0 experience and I did it with out a sweat so thank you 🙏🏾
thanks for the video guys that helped me out
Man, thank you so much, you have so many videos, on all topics, very very well explained, you guys rock!!!
Thanks for this video , doing one on my mustang over the weekend
You guys are the best you have helped me out so much can you do a video on removing the pulley on as compressor on a w163
clear explanation thanks for sharing
Awesome...nice and simple
Your videos really are top-notch - watching here in Australia!!! I have a damaged ac clutch pulley on my 2003 Land Rover Discovery 2. I just need the clutch pulley (the clutch, coil and compressor are all fine), but I can't find one anywhere as yet - Land Rover only sell the complete new JPB101330 compressor (a Denso type 10PA17C). The pulley is for the 7PK serpentine belt. Any suggestions?
thank you! I think you did a great job with this.
Circlip pliers are great tools....as are feeler gauges to check the clearance.
Very good video, thank you guys.
Great video and great channel!
Working on my 2007 Ranger and figured out something important. The coil on some Fords does not have the 2nd lock ring. It's just a tight fit. Even though the design on my compressor is apparently identical to the one in the video. But no 2nd groove or lock ring. 2 large screwdrivers for pry tools and some PB Blaster made short work of the bad coil.
Method of replacement clutch is a good information
Great help 👍
Thanks.. for the video!!
I have a 2006 ML500. it looks different. Is there a special procedure for doing the same on those. Thanks a lot.
Will that be about the same tear down for a buick 3800 series regal 1996 this one is dead seized up i seen your other video on the main tear down
guys what a great video lots of useful details and advice. i subscribed straightaway..
Thanks guys!
You are so kindly teach what diys do...
Thank you. About to repair mine
Great Job , Thanks
Thanks guys.
Ok where do i find the clutch and bearing for my 2002 bmw 325i's a/c compressor? Everywhere i check it isn't available, such a great idea over replacing the entire compressor. Not on amazon, rockauto, or my local parts suppliers... and I'm in canada, but most things ship here. Thanks!
Good video , thanks for the info
Cool red rachet
Btw thanks for awesome how to videos
I appreciate this video
Great vidoe.
Very good tnx
Thanks
Hi I have 2007 mercedes ML350
The cover from the AC compressor broke off. Supposedly have clutch-less compressor and the cover on the pulley has cover with 3 holes made with soft metal in case of the compressor lock up it breaks off to prevent engine damage.
I found the cover broke off and I ordered new pulley to change the cover. My question is if I can just change the pulley because the middle screw is still spinning it could mean it’s not locked up?
it’s $65 vs $800-1000 repair differences.
But There was also white smoke when starting up the engine after previous long drive smell burn I though just some oil from back of the engine was dripping on exhaust like before so I changed the plastic lid at the back of the engine .
After engine wormed up the smell went a way ..
Very good video
Great video , it helped a lot. But after I installed everything my clutch isn't engaging and ac is warm. Old pulley and clutch were shot so I installed new ones. Your video helped greatly.
My cars ac was working perfect 2 months ago I put it in the garage to work on it and My clutch is seized will it help If I change it so it could engage again and blow cold air ?
@@AkBulls0305did you change it ???
@@Timnguyen819 ended up being just low on coolant pumped a full can and worked wonders might want to check if you have low coolant
Thanks for the video. I'm thinking about doing this on my car. When the AC is on it shakes on the pulley pretty bad. There is brown dust all around the clutch area and the vibrations are quite bad. I still get cold air but something is wrong. Is it likely to just be the clutch? Could the center bolt just be loose?
No the bottom belt needs to be at least off.
great video. where are you guys from? I'm an immigrant to US also, from the UK. Anyway enough of the small talk, my son has a 2003 Honda Accord. AC compressor not engaging, suspect it's the clutch. would you guys recommend buying the clutch parts or new compressor/clutch? Thanks.
I have sqeek I've replaced tensioner, belt and alternator pulley on bmw, I think it's compressor is it worth trying this or getting whole new compressor my luck it be water pump it's driving me mad
hey, what size bolt connects the clutch to the ac compressor? mine fell out. thanks.
Good video. Forgot to change the oil
I replaced all new parts inside my AC, and now having trouble wiring it back up. Old clutch had only two wires. A black and a white wire. New one has two black wires and one Red wire. Do all the Black wires go together, and the Red wire does it go to the white wire? Thanks for any help.
hello , on my car the clutch won't start till i push high rpm
do i need to replace the compressor or just the clutch?
What us this red-white thing on your wrist? Is this Marteitsa/Martishor by any chance?
Is it possible to replace the ac clutch without removing the compressor?
It was on my 2011 Ford Focus but it was quite difficult due to a lack of space.
i have a lexus '08 RX400h. when I use the AC after couple minutes i get an extremely loud whining noise coming from engine. when i turn the AC off the loud whining noise goes away. the AC still blows cold air during the loud whining noise. is the loud whining noise caused from a bad AC compressor clutch? appreciate any help.
thanks guys. I suspect my nissan xtrails clutch coil is dead. i can spin the clutch by hand and the pulley is not locked up. Both feel smooth. But no clutch activation from switch and the fuse is fine. I might have a crack and change the clutch/coil.
Not all clutch coils will come out that easy right? My compressor is still installed in the vehicle and I'm having a hard time reinstalling the new clutch coil onto the compressor shaft. Mine doesnt have a snap ring on the coil, only on the clutch pulley. How do I evenly get the new coil back on?
Most of them are the same procedure, i just change mine and i saved at least $500 dollars. I paid $40 dollars for parts and labor
Where do you get your parts from? I just had the dealer refuse to sell me just a compressor clutch pulley coil assembly. They would only sell me the entire air conditioning compressor with the pulley clutch coil assembly installed. I'm not paying $500 for that when I know what the problem is. Does anybody know of a good website where you can get those GM parts for a Buick Lucerne 2011?
Mervin Secure1 Cambric Secure1 i went to a junkyard bro! And found an exact same compressor, hope this helps for you!!!
Hey guys. I have my ac on Volvo truck stopped working. I tried to fill it but pressure in low line is super high. I tried to bleed the gas to normal pressure but it didn't help. Plus its been working just hour before. But was not to cold. So i asume if compressor doesn't pump pressure would be high in low line. I can't see if clutch is spinning cuz its covered by cap. My dash menu has some diagnostics codes. And the code for climate unit showed AC compressor clutch open circuit. I checked clutch coils resistance with multimeter. And it showed around 70k ohms. I think it may be to high and coil is actually burned. So my question is what would be right resistance for good coil. And should there be other problems caused clutch coil to burn. Truck is 2016. Please help thank you
I bought the parts t change my air compressor...the mechanic was charging around $1000 ...said everything was bad...took two days no experience and boom... good as new
I have 08 jetta, could I use passat clutch to replace jetta clutch?
Спасибо за видос, все классно объяснил!
If i may ask what makes the coil burn
nice video
What brand of ac clutch used for the make
thank you
What is the normal price for replacing one at the shop?
I accidentally forgot that washer goes on the inside and when i put it on the outside and like an idiot I didn't check to make sure the pulley turned freely after putting it all back together and it smoked like a chimney . So I guess it's not a washer but a friction bearing and if I'm correct should we grease that washer/bearing ?
I bought a used camry in the winter. didn't occur to me to test the ac.
Now I see it doesn't blow cold air. I look a close as I can and I believe there is no clutch hub. I think I know why, but seek other opinions.
Ok have 2009jeep grand Cherokee same issue how can I do
Getting the compressor out of the car is the fun part.
Mr. Burnz unless you have a subaru!
thanks SO much! not sure what was done off camera when pully was sideways, then all of a sudden it fit great but guess ill find out when Im at that point, ill bring a hammer😏
2005 C240 ac works but it appears the compressor clutch is always engaged and spinning whether ac is on or off. Would this indicate the ac compressor is always on and the clutch is bad?
Spacer might be worn.
Think its possible to replace this with ac still on car? In a civic 2008
yes
good video! My compressor is very noisy when i turn on the ac , is it the cluch bearing or is it the bearing inside the compressor?
Mines same. Did you figure out what it was in the end?
Please tell me what plier you have because mine are not opening enough
Thank you :-)
1:10. This particular M6 bolt got loose and lost, Car is 23 years old, 333,333 miles. Factory did not use locktite.
Hehe great video. They always change the whole compressor for 500eur but clucth is less than a 100eur 😅
Yeah I was thinking the same thing, but to do it properly you'd have to evacuate the system and recharge it. So you'd need a vacuum, a couple cans of refrigerant, pag oil, etc.
@@aznnp77 You don't need to evacuate the system or recharge it for the clutch. The refridgerant system remains closed the whole time.
All that blink , looks like Russian gangsters trying to fix the air con..😂😂😂😂
Do all clutches open & close?
what are these funny gold rings ? :)
Hey we’re to order clutch with all 3 pieces .
I have a 2006 Lincoln towncar. I took off the clutch and pulley, but I’m having problems taking off the coil. I don’t see the second spring…. Please help
Can the clutch assembly be replaced with out evacuation of the r12 / R134a gas or complete a/c unit removal ?
As long as you leave the compressor on the car, and change the clutch there, then yes. I am going to do it that way because my refrigerant system is fine and I don't want to bother with evacuating and recharging the system.
I didn't see you check that with 12v on the coil, it locks up the clutch.
Damn fine description of how they are basically the same.
Actually in some cases you can perform this job on the car itself without having to take out the complete kompressor
horror story: bought a kit, compressor, drier, valve from ebbay. everything ok (actually, everything went wrong) and at the end, with system half full of freon, the belt would not fit. The compressor is OK, but the belt pulley had different offset. vented, swapped the pulley, now i am venting again. and venting my anger. arrtrrrgggghhhhrrrhrrhhr
just asking...if you change the compresor you must also change the evaporator? thank you..
No. But you should change the dryer canister. It has decessicant inside of it and pulls moisture out of your system. Anytime you open the system you expose the otherwise sealed closed system to the open air. In humid climates you can get a good amount moisture in the lines and not get as much of an efficient cooling as if there was no moisture. Dryer canister is cheap. The evaporator coil rides up front with your radiator and while it's wise to also replace this if you are putting in a new compressor, it isn't absolutely necessary to replace. The evaporator can get corrosion and obtain pin hole leaks if it's old. ...and the dryer replacement also is absolutely necessary... But it does make for a more efficient and colder AC if it's a fresh canister. Vacuum down down down... And down some more. Make sure you have right amount of compressor oil in your system.... And charge charge charge... Brrrrrrrrr. Colder than a........
@@ilogicsPR Not sure what planet your from, but here on earth the Condenser is up in front of the radiator, and the Evaporator is behind the compressor and the accumulator/dryer, against or inside the firewall. The evap isn't effected by the compressor, the condenser should be replaced with the compressor (if the compressor failed). If you find metal debris in the orifice filter tube, that is a good sign your compressor is failing. At which point you would want to replace both.
Can you do on the car as take of and loose gas !!
yes
My AC compressor makes a SSSSSSSSSSS when I turn it on, what is it? clutch or bearing?
Do we have to fill the AC gas after replacing new magnetic clutch ??
Yes. We have to fill the coolant gas again
That's fine and well but there is a min and max air gap for the clutch.
Anybody know where I can order a kit that ships to Puerto Rico for a 2011 Nissan Versa 1.6L (Automatic) ??
rockauto
@@danielturner3891 Thanks, but rockauto only sells the whole compressor.
@@soundfxasmr negative I bought the clutch kit for my Ford F-150
@@danielturner3891 I meant for the Versa of course.... they only have the entire compressor.
@@soundfxasmr oh I see well good luck man
Does the compressor need to be removed beforehand?
I was able to do it without removal on my 2011 Ford Focus but it was quite difficult due to a lack of space.
Имаш мартеница :)
Why you didn't just change only the pulley bearing instead of assy pulley ?
1:58 circlip
