I’m inclined to find it likely that Cybertron did remain, in some way, in the Sol system permanently after the end of the series.
Now I know why Spike Witwicky became friends with the Autobots for a reason, he joined the fight in their struggle against the arch nemesis, the Decepticons.

I'm not from America so l didn't have a clue what the story was when there were no new episodes after Rebirth. l waited years for a new season before finding out the horrible truth...some say they were traumatised by Prime's death but l was traumatised by the end of the G1 series 😢😢
@@disneyboy3030 actually I've seen some of what he's done and to be honest as talented as he is and as much as he tried it just proves that even with a better translation, the storylines were just too awful in that series to make anything good from them.
it was never outright stated, but in The Return of Optimus Prime, Galvatron was cured of his madness when the Matrix was opened at the end. so he’s actually sane and acting like Megatron throughout all of the Rebirth, and you can kind of tell. he’s not a ranting madman anymore, and you can imagine Megatron saying all the stuff he says.
I watched this episode the day it was released. It was bad then, it’s awful now. The story and animation are horrible. What a terrible way to end this awesome cartoon.
Yup in the first appearance of Galvatron i was kinda feel bad for Megatron character changing but, episode after episode i watched Galvatron character building up again until this moment it becomes more like Megatron old character ;)

Well, we know in the Generation 2 Redux story from Fun Publications' "Wings of Honor" G1 cartoon universe, he was still in deep space with Scorponok, while the second generation of Autobots and Decepticons battled each other on Earth.

Like many, I was a huge Transformers fan as a kid. I'd seen the previous two episodes, but since I was going to be gone for the day, my parents set the VCR to record this one. I got home, turned it on, and realized that we ran out of tape at 11:18 of this episode. This was 1987. Today is the first time I've ever been able to complete the episode. It took me 34 years to complete the circle, but it's finally done! Thanks, Hasbro Pulse!
My dad bought our very first VHS VCR at K-mart to record Transformers for me as a kid... I still have that video tape here somewhere along with all the toys I searched for high and low at every toy store in town at the time! My dad finally found Megatron at one of the two Toys-R-Us in Knoxville but could never find Optimus Prime or Starscream... an uncle of mine found Prime at Kroger of all places and although I did end up with a couple of the Decepticon jets I never found Starscream! It is nice to be able to watch these old episodes from 35 years ago... really brings back memories of better times and better days! As a kid you were obviously as big a fan of the show as I was to remember the exact time the video ran out! Cool memory thanks for sharing!
Incredible story I watched the Episodes as a Kid, And rewatched them somewhere on TH-cam 10 years ago or so. Except they didn't have season 4 posted then. So I can rewatch it now.

Technically it was the last THREE G1 episodes ever. This was a three part story. Personally, I wished Hasbro and Marvel had spent actual money on a quality produced episode, not putting G1 out of its misery in such a low quality fashion.
technically, it was the last ones in English. Japan tried to continue it. Things went to a darker path. Like Blaster died with Soundwave, and came the new rebuilt like Soundblast. (Siege calls him a clone) Optimus Dies again, Cybertron blows up, End.

Must have been agonizing to both the storytellers, animators, producers, and the fans of the Transformers Franchise whose future incarnations and retelling have their own take in this very long Cybertronian War... But Toei Animation continue the Transformers: Generation 1 legacy in the late '80's to the early '90's. if only Hasbro talked to Saban Entertainment and Marvel Productions, Limited only then that The Toei Transformers: Generation 1 anime series could adapt to the US as part of the new Fox Kids' Children's Television Network in 1990.
These episodes were all about selling toys. Action figures at the time were becoming second fiddle due to the videogame consoles taking off again. As a kid you could get a Transformer or a Nintendo game?
@@bratticuss Also, a lot of fans abandoned the series after the movie displayed the Great Toy Massacre of 1986, killing off the Autobots 80's kids grew up with to replace them with characters most Transformers fans would still hate to this day in Season 3, where they took center stage.

Zarak in general is awesome. Wish they would bring him back for a movie or two; if only as proof that the human villains are often the most malevolent.
I remember watching these for the first time as a kid and being so excited for each new episode..it really breath new life into the series for me, which is why it was such a shame to learn that these were the last episodes ever made.
Galvatron and Zarak jointly leading+squabbling over preeminence in the Decepticons would have made for a great premise for the next season. Also the war becoming an interplanetary war as Galvatron makes good on his promise to build another better planet and the Autobots take full administrative control of Cybertron.

In fact, Transformers G1 was supposed to end with Rodimus Prime defeating Galvatron and Unicron, but nope, it kept going until the show ended in Season 4, being cancelled and all.
@@JoseBronxRican Marketing, basically. The showrunners initially wanted The Return of Optimus Prime storyline to be the real conclusion of The Transformers. Unfortunately, there were still many more toys Hasbro wanted to put on shelves, and the cartoon was the marketing material they so often relied upon to conduct their business practices (hence why the movie killed off the old characters). In the case of The Rebirth, the new characters and gimmicks were the spotlight features of this three parter. Furthermore, it was originally written to be a five parter, hence why the pacing is awkward in many areas, with new characters appearing constantly (some of which only making a very brief appearance. In the end, the fourth season really is comparable to a hoarder's garage. Filled with too much nonsense, and not enough management.
They made another season in Japan that is cannon and consistent with this art style. Sad it never got dubbed, but at least subtitles for those episodes exist. You can find on TH-cam.
Love the premise of the rebirth, basically an arms race to get the control of the new technology that would shift the war in the favor of who has domination over it. first the Autobots bond with the nebulons to create Headmasters, the Decepticons binary bond with the Hive and let them convert their weapons, thus making Targetmasters, Zarak converts the Hive City into Scorponok pioneering the first Headmaster triple changer Titanformer, and Spike bonds with Cerebros and together they build Fortress Maximus, a headmaster within a headmaster triple changer city, the biggest Titanformer for its time! The cherry on top could have been Prime getting his Powermaster Optimus Prime upgraded form and that would have been even more awesome! But you get the point anyway. Does feel like this move in general towards integration of organic life and transformer life, just as Alpha trion prophecy had foretold, you start off with Headmasters, then pretender shells, Brainmasters etc. Until eventually culminating in the beast wars era!
You know what was amazing about Rebirth - and aside from considerations of the Nebulons' support and what Galvatron was informed from via Vector Sigma's interference... but in this 3-part series it really teased just how dangerous a sane Galvatron would have been!
I can't believe I finally finished watching this series. Thank you, Hasbro Pulse. And, finally, goodbye, Transformers. You were a brilliant piece of my childhood, the Golden Age of my life. A wonderful time spent with my older brother, and my loving family that I utterly took for granted back when it was still around. It makes me tear up to remember how great times were then, and how cold and hopeless life feels now. But, having watched this and remembering how great things were then, gives me some motivation to get my priorities straight and try again now. Even if I'm a loser in my 30's now, who knows come a few years from now, right? To whoever reads this, I wish for you happy nostalgia and even better times to come! We can do this
In transformers headmasters chip chase was supposed to be in one episode where he's walking with an exo skeleton without a wheel chair. But they never put him in the series.
Fortress Maximus looks big and gigantic compared to Scorponok. There were visual mistakes in the last three episodes. Originally the rebirth was meant to be five episodes but got cut down to three. So some new characters like Six Shot only had a few seconds on video.
Which is why I called Fortress Maximus the Autobots "trump card" - Zarak used the Hive's HQ into Sorponok. So what do Spoke and Cerebros do? They used the Hive's original city (before the one that was cannibalized to build Scorponok) to build Fortress Maximus). Fortress Maxmus - like Scorponok - has his own flight mode; however, he is even bigger than Scorponok.
From what I’ve heard, the original Fort Max toy is almost a foot taller that the original Scoponok. The show seems to have justified it by explaining that Fort Max is the original Hive city, when they were at the height of their power and Scorponok is the current one, when Nebulos is mostly empty
Titans Return and Earthrise may not be considered great second seasons of both of their trilogies, *but at least they gave us great G1 style toys for Scorponok and Fortress Maximus.* After years of waiting, I could finally recreate this epic battle between these two giant Headmasters.
Thank the American brats, they were crying all over the place because Optimus Died.. They were not used to see their character pass on the mantle , like on Anime, where is pretty normal.
I never understood why Hasbro never got the rights to dub the japanese Headmasters and make a continuation of season 4. I am certain Peter Gullen and Frank Weller would be thrilled to reprise their iconic roles and the rest of the surviving cast as well. And with some modications to the script during dubbing they can even link the series with the Rebirth events. Here are some suggestions... 1) Due to the malfunction of Vector Sigma, Cybertron is forcefully removed from Earth's orbit and by doing so, the deluded super computer depletes the planet from all of it's energy marking the end of the short lived 2nd Golden Age. It's revealed that only the Matrix, now fully recharged, can repair the computer. 2) The Nebulons decide to remain on their homeworld but the HM Autobots manage to sustain the Headmasters tech even without the assitance of organic operators. Once they learn that Cybertron is once again under serious danger, they decide to rejoin the Autobots. However, the same canno be said with the Hive who have fully merged with the HM Decepticons thanks to their physical detoration which forbids them to live as indepedent lifeforms. The HM Decepticons remain loyal to Galvatron but only under Zarak's instructions who remains on Nebulos so he can repair his Scorponok gear. Once he succeeds this, he returns and thanks to the events of Cybertron in Grieve Danger and later after Galvatron's.. buried under a giant iceburg he gains full control of the Decepticons. A subplot can also be added... After barely surviving the destruction of Cybertron, Galvatron is weakened and his power is greatly dpleted so that's the reason he got offed by the iceburg. 3) Thanks to advanced cybertronian tech, Daniel makes a fully recovery and Arcee becomes a regular Autobot once again since her system is no longer needed to assist Daniel.
Sorry but that Headmaster series was awful..it wasn't just the bad dubs that made it awful either, the storylines were atrocious..you had robots blessing themselves in one episode, Galvatron became a planet with his arms, legs and head sticking out and then of course the worst thing of all, they actually blew up Cybertron. What more needs to be said to prove that that series was an abomination.

@Μανος Κομπανης I've thought about this before. Imho a straightforward forward dub would not have worked because Toei had a different style of writing compared to Sunbow. The writers of Headmasters tried to make the entire show one long, ongoing storyline. Most episodes of the G1 cartoon were isolated stories that were rarely connected, but that's part of what made the show fun. That said, i personally do think that Sunbow could have hypothetically deconstructed, edited, and rearranged footage from the 35 episodes of Headmasters and used it to make 15-20 new G1 episodes.
The planet was always composed of golden metal, just like the Ark and Autobot City. Once it was knocked out of its orbit around Alpha Centauri by a massive explosion and sent drifting through interstellar space it was stuck in eternal night, appearing grey to the casual observer.
I noticed that many of the themes from the episode 'More than meets the eye' appeared in this, almost as if it were an interesting mixture of the early pioneering stuff, and the newest stuff. The appearance of Optimus, Alphatrion, the Constructicons and Bumblebee (at the end) was surely not a co-incidence! Perhaps a few more of the early pioneering characters (e.g. Shockwave) would have been nice.
Galvatron called Scorponok an overgrown shopping center. 😆 Where did all those new Autobots and Decepticons come from? Seemed like after the movie, the Decepticons could invade Cybertron whenever they wanted to.
There were hundreds or even thousands of Decepticons living on Cybertron at the time of the movie. The Autobots were decimated when Unicron ingested two of Cybertron's moons, but potentially more survivors remained in Autobot City than we saw on screen.
No matter what anyone says, I think Zarak and Scorponok were the best villains in the series. I give honorable mention to Cyclonus, the Combaticons, Sixshot, Mindwipe and Apeface
Agreed. He’s powerful and more evil than Dr. Arkeville, Shawn Berger, Dr. Gregory Swofford and Dr. Mark Morgan. Even inspired by Magneto and Obadiah Stane.
As kids on the playground we guessed what the next episodes would be. Sadly they never happened. But fortunately there was a Japanese exchange student who attended my school. He had relatives taping the shows and sending them to him. In 1988 I got to see 2 episodes of Masterforce ( we had no idea what it was though, we just called it Pretenders season 5)... Not realizing they had their own separate Headmasters series before it. It was a puzzle that eluded me for years, and others thought I lied about the Japanese Transformers cartoon. Finally in the mid 90s the Internet vindicated my story. I got bootlegs of all the series until Shout Factory released them all on DVD. To me Headmasters- Victory are the True Seasons 4-6 that we never got. Rebirth is just a "what if" story to me. I would totally support a Haslab Crowd fund for a professional English dub of all these series with the remaining OG actors, and the best quality VA's to fill in the rest.

I never actually realized this was The End of this series, I thought that Netflix just stopped putting up the seasons after this last episode, but never did I realize that this was, The End, and honestly I’m willing to accept this as the end of the show, because they writers put their backs into this series, and I’m glad it was even a possibility, and I’m glad to finally know that this was, The End…
I would like to see a sequel series to this. I like the ideal of humanoids as operators to the transformers, and Zarak would be Galvatron's match and would bring back that old Megatron/Starcream rivary, but Zarak having the claim and patience in getting what he wants...and using his wits to put Galvaltron in his place and even vice versa.
It appears that both Bumblebee AND Goldbug were standing around! Unless the former was actually that Bumblebee/Cliffjumper hybrid called 'Hubcap' (who otherwise never actually made it into the G1 cartoons despite the toy release!)
I recall watching this on local channels back in '87. They always were saying, "Stay tuned for more Headmasters." I kept thinking there were more episodes. Eventually I gave up, of course. It wasn't until much later I realized that this was...it. Though I could not fathom why. They were still selling toys...why couldn't we get an animated series? I really wish we had.
yeah 84-87 is so short for something so cool. I loved how each year was so distinct with new toy concepts and new styles of storytelling. if G1 had continued, we'd have even more cool characters now. in the decades since it died we mostly just got reboot after reboot, retelling the same old story but in a softer way, with the same old characters but uglier versions and cheaper voice talent.
Here in Italy we got the japanese version of the Headmaster season, which lasted much more, and I'm glad of it (They even opened the doors for Transformers Master Force). I don't like very much the American take on the headmasters. I'm expecially not amused by the Daniel X Arcee thingy.

I was so excited to see season four arrive. Although I wasn't really a fan of how they handled the Head/Target Master process, I still was looking for more. Hell, I didn't think season three overall was very good, but still wanted more. Then there was no fourth episode. I was used to the idea of them sticking in reruns, although usually not so early in a season. Obviously this was way before the internet so in most cases the only way you realized a show was canceled was when a new season started and it wasn't there. Eventually I figured it out that there was no more coming. I'm still bothered that it didn't continue. I feel like it peaked in season two, loved the movie, which felt like it could lead to even greater things, and then it just fizzled out. I guess they kind of sort of gave it a conclusion in that Cybertron got a new golden age while they still left it open for more with the Decepticon promise of "We'll be back" at the end, but it really just didn't go out on a high note, unfortunately.
Sorry if someone has already said this. Two things people have pointed out about the last episode. Optimus Prime is the only S1E1 character to make it all the way through to the series final episode. Yes we see Bumblebee, but that is animation error as he is now Goldbug. Along with the Constructocons, he is also the only character to appear in all four seasons and the movie. This final episode concludes Cybertron’s energy issue brought up in S1E1 where they finally replenish its depleted energy resources.
It's interesting how in season 4 the official look for Optimus prime in truck mode is with a Golden grill, rounded singular headlights, the silver stripes that were present on the toy and in robot mode he has silver backpack and head crest
The final showdown between Spike and Zarak is always strangely satisfying to me, given it's the conclusion of Spike's journey from wide-eyed young friend to the Autobots, to pissed-off father fighting to save his son and planet in a city-sized robot. Also, am I the only one who swears Zarak pronounces Scorponok's voice as ScorpANON at 13:51 EDIT: Paused on a random frame at 14:04 / 14:05, and just as Cerebros's head is about to leave the frame, you can see Spike inside his visor as the head begins to transform into an exo-suit. I honestly never noticed that before now.
After rebirth we learned prime became a power master The pretenders, micromasters, and actionmaster happened The events in G2 happened Anybody wanna fill in the few century gap that happened before beast wars that Optimus prime once sacrificed himself and ended the great war So many stories you can tell on that timeline
I'm glad Cerebros got to have his happy ending too. After fighting for so long I'm not the least bit surprised he was done with fighting. I'm also really glad that he got to see the fruits of his efforts with Spike. It's been quite a ride seeing G1 to its end and I see why people praised it so much, although I still don't agree with the notion that some other series aren't just as good too. Then again perhaps I'm biased because I didn't grow up with these shows so I'm not so attached to them as others. Still I very much enjoyed watching this series, good parts and bad.
I remember back in my country when I saw this episode, day dreaming about what will be next, imagining the duocons, the head masters, target masters fighting! I came back day after day watching re runs of previous episodes over and over until I realized it was over. Transformers deserve to take where it let off 40 years ago! Look the success of Masters of the Universe... not a reboot but a continuity 🤩

Even though the Generation 1 era comes to a end, there will be future Generations for every Transformer series from Beast Wars all the way to Cyberverse!
Spike in one week redesigns the autobots into headmasters and target masters, Builds fortress maximus, defeats galvatron and scorpinok and restores cybertron to its golden age. I'm not saying he is the greatest, but he did in a week what the autobots couldn't do in millions of years.
Ty Hasbro Pulse, for giving us this amazing show. I couldnt complete the series first time around as a kid. Now I feel satisfied that 30 + years later, I've seen the whole series. :)
Nobody really knows he was written out the series us fans think he died sometime after season two because he would have definitely been around for some of his grandsons moments
@@chrisedwards3214 My suspicion is that he was also earmarked for a death, possibly during or just before the Movie, but as is the case with a lot of series 2/3 deaths or phasings-out, it never made the cut.

@@disneyboy3030 actually I've seen some of what he's done and to be honest as talented as he is and as much as he tried it just proves that even with a better translation, the storylines were just too awful in that series to make anything good from them.
it was never outright stated, but in The Return of Optimus Prime, Galvatron was cured of his madness when the Matrix was opened at the end. so he’s actually sane and acting like Megatron throughout all of the Rebirth, and you can kind of tell. he’s not a ranting madman anymore, and you can imagine Megatron saying all the stuff he says.
Crazy Galvatron would've started shooting at Zarak despite being outnumbered.

I watched this episode the day it was released. It was bad then, it’s awful now. The story and animation are horrible. What a terrible way to end this awesome cartoon.
Yup in the first appearance of Galvatron i was kinda feel bad for Megatron character changing but, episode after episode i watched Galvatron character building up again until this moment it becomes more like Megatron old character ;)

this was not the last episode tho , it was the last released outside of Japan. i think there were 3 more seasons after this one which was barely started.

Well, we know in the Generation 2 Redux story from Fun Publications' "Wings of Honor" G1 cartoon universe, he was still in deep space with Scorponok, while the second generation of Autobots and Decepticons battled each other on Earth.

Like many, I was a huge Transformers fan as a kid. I'd seen the previous two episodes, but since I was going to be gone for the day, my parents set the VCR to record this one. I got home, turned it on, and realized that we ran out of tape at 11:18 of this episode. This was 1987.
Today is the first time I've ever been able to complete the episode. It took me 34 years to complete the circle, but it's finally done! Thanks, Hasbro Pulse!
My dad bought our very first VHS VCR at K-mart to record Transformers for me as a kid... I still have that video tape here somewhere along with all the toys I searched for high and low at every toy store in town at the time! My dad finally found Megatron at one of the two Toys-R-Us in Knoxville but could never find Optimus Prime or Starscream... an uncle of mine found Prime at Kroger of all places and although I did end up with a couple of the Decepticon jets I never found Starscream! It is nice to be able to watch these old episodes from 35 years ago... really brings back memories of better times and better days!

I remember waiting for years for Galvatron's revenge to occur after hearing that last conversation between Galvatron and Zarak, *I was so bummed out when I found out that this was the last G1 episode ever.*
Technically it was the last THREE G1 episodes ever. This was a three part story. Personally, I wished Hasbro and Marvel had spent actual money on a quality produced episode, not putting G1 out of its misery in such a low quality fashion.
technically, it was the last ones in English. Japan tried to continue it. Things went to a darker path. Like Blaster died with Soundwave, and came the new rebuilt like Soundblast. (Siege calls him a clone)

Uh yeah. Goldbug and Bumblebee were in the same celebration shot together. Even as a kid I noticed a ton of their animation mistakes.

But Toei Animation continue the Transformers: Generation 1 legacy in the late '80's to the early '90's. if only Hasbro talked to Saban Entertainment and Marvel Productions, Limited only then that The Toei Transformers: Generation 1 anime series could adapt to the US as part of the new Fox Kids' Children's Television Network in 1990.
These episodes were all about selling toys. Action figures at the time were becoming second fiddle due to the videogame consoles taking off again. As a kid you could get a Transformer or a Nintendo game?

I remember watching these for the first time as a kid and being so excited for each new episode..it really breath new life into the series for me, which is why it was such a shame to learn that these were the last episodes ever made.
Galvatron and Zarak jointly leading+squabbling over preeminence in the Decepticons would have made for a great premise for the next season. Also the war becoming an interplanetary war as Galvatron makes good on his promise to build another better planet and the Autobots take full administrative control of Cybertron.

The soundtrack for all 3 episodes is really spot on.

The showrunners initially wanted The Return of Optimus Prime storyline to be the real conclusion of The Transformers.
Unfortunately, there were still many more toys Hasbro wanted to put on shelves, and the cartoon was the marketing material they so often relied upon to conduct their business practices (hence why the movie killed off the old characters). In the case of The Rebirth, the new characters and gimmicks were the spotlight features of this three parter.
Furthermore, it was originally written to be a five parter, hence why the pacing is awkward in many areas, with new characters appearing constantly (some of which only making a very brief appearance.
In the end, the fourth season really is comparable to a hoarder's garage. Filled with too much nonsense, and not enough management.
They made another season in Japan that is cannon and consistent with this art style. Sad it never got dubbed, but at least subtitles for those episodes exist. You can find on TH-cam.
Love the premise of the rebirth, basically an arms race to get the control of the new technology that would shift the war in the favor of who has domination over it. first the Autobots bond with the nebulons to create Headmasters, the Decepticons binary bond with the Hive and let them convert their weapons, thus making Targetmasters, Zarak converts the Hive City into Scorponok pioneering the first Headmaster triple changer Titanformer, and Spike bonds with Cerebros and together they build Fortress Maximus, a headmaster within a headmaster triple changer city, the biggest Titanformer for its time!
The cherry on top could have been Prime getting his Powermaster Optimus Prime upgraded form and that would have been even more awesome! But you get the point anyway.
Does feel like this move in general towards integration of organic life and transformer life, just as Alpha trion prophecy had foretold, you start off with Headmasters, then pretender shells, Brainmasters etc. Until eventually culminating in the beast wars era!

You know what was amazing about Rebirth - and aside from considerations of the Nebulons' support and what Galvatron was informed from via Vector Sigma's interference... but in this 3-part series it really teased just how dangerous a sane Galvatron would have been!
Just think how dangerous he would have been if he still had Leonard Nimoy’s voice.
I can't believe I finally finished watching this series. Thank you, Hasbro Pulse.

You were a brilliant piece of my childhood, the Golden Age of my life.
A wonderful time spent with my older brother, and my loving family that I utterly took for granted back when it was still around.
It makes me tear up to remember how great times were then, and how cold and hopeless life feels now.
But, having watched this and remembering how great things were then, gives me some motivation to get my priorities straight and try again now.
Even if I'm a loser in my 30's now, who knows come a few years from now, right?

In transformers headmasters chip chase was supposed to be in one episode where he's walking with an exo skeleton without a wheel chair. But they never put him in the series.

Fortress Maximus looks big and gigantic compared to Scorponok. There were visual mistakes in the last three episodes. Originally the rebirth was meant to be five episodes but got cut down to three. So some new characters like Six Shot only had a few seconds on video.
Which is why I called Fortress Maximus the Autobots "trump card" - Zarak used the Hive's HQ into Sorponok. So what do Spoke and Cerebros do? They used the Hive's original city (before the one that was cannibalized to build Scorponok) to build Fortress Maximus). Fortress Maxmus - like Scorponok - has his own flight mode; however, he is even bigger than Scorponok.
From what I’ve heard, the original Fort Max toy is almost a foot taller that the original Scoponok. The show seems to have justified it by explaining that Fort Max is the original Hive city, when they were at the height of their power and Scorponok is the current one, when Nebulos is mostly empty

Titans Return and Earthrise may not be considered great second seasons of both of their trilogies, *but at least they gave us great G1 style toys for Scorponok and Fortress Maximus.*
After years of waiting, I could finally recreate this epic battle between these two giant Headmasters.
Titans return is considered the best of the Prime wars trilogy
TR Fort max is the gem of my collection and I am working on a vid with him and Scorponok now. I don’t see why they are so underused.

Thank the American brats, they were crying all over the place because Optimus Died.. They were not used to see their character pass on the mantle , like on Anime, where is pretty normal.
I never understood why Hasbro never got the rights to dub the japanese Headmasters and make a continuation of season 4. I am certain Peter Gullen and Frank Weller would be thrilled to reprise their iconic roles and the rest of the surviving cast as well.
And with some modications to the script during dubbing they can even link the series with the Rebirth events.
Here are some suggestions...
1) Due to the malfunction of Vector Sigma, Cybertron is forcefully removed from Earth's orbit and by doing so, the deluded super computer depletes the planet from all of it's energy marking the end of the short lived 2nd Golden Age. It's revealed that only the Matrix, now fully recharged, can repair the computer.
2) The Nebulons decide to remain on their homeworld but the HM Autobots manage to sustain the Headmasters tech even without the assitance of organic operators. Once they learn that Cybertron is once again under serious danger, they decide to rejoin the Autobots.
However, the same canno be said with the Hive who have fully merged with the HM Decepticons thanks to their physical detoration which forbids them to live as indepedent lifeforms. The HM Decepticons remain loyal to Galvatron but only under Zarak's instructions who remains on Nebulos so he can repair his Scorponok gear. Once he succeeds this, he returns and thanks to the events of Cybertron in Grieve Danger and later after Galvatron's.. buried under a giant iceburg he gains full control of the Decepticons. A subplot can also be added... After barely surviving the destruction of Cybertron, Galvatron is weakened and his power is greatly dpleted so that's the reason he got offed by the iceburg.
3) Thanks to advanced cybertronian tech, Daniel makes a fully recovery and Arcee becomes a regular Autobot once again since her system is no longer needed to assist Daniel.
Sorry but that Headmaster series was awful..it wasn't just the bad dubs that made it awful either, the storylines were atrocious..you had robots blessing themselves in one episode, Galvatron became a planet with his arms, legs and head sticking out and then of course the worst thing of all, they actually blew up Cybertron. What more needs to be said to prove that that series was an abomination.

@Μανος Κομπανης I've thought about this before. Imho a straightforward forward dub would not have worked because Toei had a different style of writing compared to Sunbow. The writers of Headmasters tried to make the entire show one long, ongoing storyline. Most episodes of the G1 cartoon were isolated stories that were rarely connected, but that's part of what made the show fun.
That said, i personally do think that Sunbow could have hypothetically deconstructed, edited, and rearranged footage from the 35 episodes of Headmasters and used it to make 15-20 new G1 episodes.
Its pretty amazing how a cartoon inspired generations. I bet if G1 started all over again today it would do the same
I always find it funny that when they say that Cybertron has entered a new golden age, they meant it literally with the planet now being gold.
This was the last episode til beast Wars. Makes you wonder too What Happened to the 2nd golden age When Beast wars Came Around?
The planet was always composed of golden metal, just like the Ark and Autobot City. Once it was knocked out of its orbit around Alpha Centauri by a massive explosion and sent drifting through interstellar space it was stuck in eternal night, appearing grey to the casual observer.

I noticed that many of the themes from the episode 'More than meets the eye' appeared in this, almost as if it were an interesting mixture of the early pioneering stuff, and the newest stuff. The appearance of Optimus, Alphatrion, the Constructicons and Bumblebee (at the end) was surely not a co-incidence! Perhaps a few more of the early pioneering characters (e.g. Shockwave) would have been nice.

Where did all those new Autobots and Decepticons come from?
Seemed like after the movie, the Decepticons could invade Cybertron whenever they wanted to.
There were hundreds or even thousands of Decepticons living on Cybertron at the time of the movie.
The Autobots were decimated when Unicron ingested two of Cybertron's moons, but potentially more survivors remained in Autobot City than we saw on screen.

As kids on the playground we guessed what the next episodes would be. Sadly they never happened. But fortunately there was a Japanese exchange student who attended my school. He had relatives taping the shows and sending them to him. In 1988 I got to see 2 episodes of Masterforce ( we had no idea what it was though, we just called it Pretenders season 5)... Not realizing they had their own separate Headmasters series before it. It was a puzzle that eluded me for years, and others thought I lied about the Japanese Transformers cartoon. Finally in the mid 90s the Internet vindicated my story. I got bootlegs of all the series until Shout Factory released them all on DVD. To me Headmasters- Victory are the True Seasons 4-6 that we never got. Rebirth is just a "what if" story to me.
I would totally support a Haslab Crowd fund for a professional English dub of all these series with the remaining OG actors, and the best quality VA's to fill in the rest.

I would like to see a sequel series to this. I like the ideal of humanoids as operators to the transformers, and Zarak would be Galvatron's match and would bring back that old Megatron/Starcream rivary, but Zarak having the claim and patience in getting what he wants...and using his wits to put Galvaltron in his place and even vice versa.

I recall watching this on local channels back in '87. They always were saying, "Stay tuned for more Headmasters." I kept thinking there were more episodes. Eventually I gave up, of course. It wasn't until much later I realized that this was...it. Though I could not fathom why. They were still selling toys...why couldn't we get an animated series? I really wish we had.
The brand was simply on a decline by this point. Not enough monetary incentive while the comics were still being printed and likely cost a lot less.
yeah 84-87 is so short for something so cool. I loved how each year was so distinct with new toy concepts and new styles of storytelling. if G1 had continued, we'd have even more cool characters now. in the decades since it died we mostly just got reboot after reboot, retelling the same old story but in a softer way, with the same old characters but uglier versions and cheaper voice talent.
I was exactly the same..l waited years for a new season before l learned the horrible truth.
Here in Italy we got the japanese version of the Headmaster season, which lasted much more, and I'm glad of it (They even opened the doors for Transformers Master Force).
I don't like very much the American take on the headmasters.
I'm expecially not amused by the Daniel X Arcee thingy.

Thing is, Victor Caroli is also an essential part of what made Transformers so memorable, just like Orson Welles, Peter Cullen and Stan Bush.
That scene when Fortress Maximus arrives is just brilliant.
I was so excited to see season four arrive. Although I wasn't really a fan of how they handled the Head/Target Master process, I still was looking for more. Hell, I didn't think season three overall was very good, but still wanted more. Then there was no fourth episode. I was used to the idea of them sticking in reruns, although usually not so early in a season. Obviously this was way before the internet so in most cases the only way you realized a show was canceled was when a new season started and it wasn't there. Eventually I figured it out that there was no more coming. I'm still bothered that it didn't continue. I feel like it peaked in season two, loved the movie, which felt like it could lead to even greater things, and then it just fizzled out. I guess they kind of sort of gave it a conclusion in that Cybertron got a new golden age while they still left it open for more with the Decepticon promise of "We'll be back" at the end, but it really just didn't go out on a high note, unfortunately.

Sorry if someone has already said this. Two things people have pointed out about the last episode. Optimus Prime is the only S1E1 character to make it all the way through to the series final episode. Yes we see Bumblebee, but that is animation error as he is now Goldbug. Along with the Constructocons, he is also the only character to appear in all four seasons and the movie.
This final episode concludes Cybertron’s energy issue brought up in S1E1 where they finally replenish its depleted energy resources.

It's interesting how in season 4 the official look for Optimus prime in truck mode is with a Golden grill, rounded singular headlights, the silver stripes that were present on the toy and in robot mode he has silver backpack and head crest
In these 22 min episodes they get convinced so easily. I love it!
The final showdown between Spike and Zarak is always strangely satisfying to me, given it's the conclusion of Spike's journey from wide-eyed young friend to the Autobots, to pissed-off father fighting to save his son and planet in a city-sized robot.
Also, am I the only one who swears Zarak pronounces Scorponok's voice as ScorpANON at 13:51
EDIT: Paused on a random frame at 14:04 / 14:05, and just as Cerebros's head is about to leave the frame, you can see Spike inside his visor as the head begins to transform into an exo-suit. I honestly never noticed that before now.
After rebirth we learned prime became a power master

I'm glad Cerebros got to have his happy ending too. After fighting for so long I'm not the least bit surprised he was done with fighting. I'm also really glad that he got to see the fruits of his efforts with Spike. It's been quite a ride seeing G1 to its end and I see why people praised it so much, although I still don't agree with the notion that some other series aren't just as good too. Then again perhaps I'm biased because I didn't grow up with these shows so I'm not so attached to them as others. Still I very much enjoyed watching this series, good parts and bad.

I came back day after day watching re runs of previous episodes over and over until I realized it was over.

I know this 3 parter was hastily thrown together but It’s still cool to see Spike fight a huge threat
Spike in one week redesigns the autobots into headmasters and target masters, Builds fortress maximus, defeats galvatron and scorpinok and restores cybertron to its golden age. I'm not saying he is the greatest, but he did in a week what the autobots couldn't do in millions of years.
That's why they call.him.superhuman spike
He learned a lot from the autobots he studied transformers history

Nobody really knows he was written out the series us fans think he died sometime after season two because he would have definitely been around for some of his grandsons moments
@@chrisedwards3214 My suspicion is that he was also earmarked for a death, possibly during or just before the Movie, but as is the case with a lot of series 2/3 deaths or phasings-out, it never made the cut.
