The actress playing Luv is amazing in this scene. The way she responds "Home." to Deckard reminds one of how a little girl would react when she was heading back to her parents after a rough day at school. Back to comfort and solace. Just genius.

Dude Ryan Gosling sold me in this movie without ever saying a single word at some scenes. I feel anger and rage for injustice when he decides he's going to do the right thing (accompanied by the huge reverby bass in the next scene), when he's shooting down the ships for a brief moment I feel that rage again in his eyes to save Deckard, when he shoots Luv and Luv shoots him in the gut and he looks up at Deckard I almost feel tears in my eyes at the look he shares with Deckard. Almost like Deckard is his dad and he is going to give his everything for saving who he wishes was he father even if it means destroying his own body. All of these things are not said or explained but you feel it in Goslings face eyes and acting. Incredible film.

There is a moment where K is brought to his knees by gunshot after his suicide run against Luv, he looks at his wound a hand covered in blood, he glances at Deckard. So much is said in the exchange of glances between these two humans, his blood is spilled and this time it's K's agency at play here, his decision, not wallace, deckard or even the one eyed woman. He is alive.

I think i`ve seen the Sea Wall scene a couple of times each months since i first saw the movie. One day i suddenly noticed how the music shifts when K gets the advantage over Luv. When Luv has the upper hand in the fight, there are hard hitting industialized-type sounds playing. However when K appears and starts shooting down the ships, the music shifts to those big light beautiful horn sounds, (im really bad at describing them). During the battle, there is a mix between them both, but when she stabs K, it changes back to the inustrialized sounds again. Then when K rises from the water again and pushes Luv down into the water again, it instantly changes back to Ks sounds.
I dont know if this is something that other people have noticed, but i felt smart noticing it myself atleast.

This scene brings me to tears every time - I can't put my finger on a specific part though. Maybe it's the music that makes my skin tingle all over, the amazing setup to this scene or the fight that ensues afterwards. Maybe it's the close proximity to drowning and the fight for life that Luv goes through, because I know what it's like to nearly drown. Maybe it's the setup of the story culminating in this scene. The cinematography are on point, the action is super clear and well-choreographed. At no point do I lose the scope and geography of this scene, it's sounds and it purpose in the narrative.

Joe, right at the start of film: "My model doesn't rebel".
Joe, almost the end of the film: kills another Replicant and at least six humans to rescue Deckard, after realising that Deckard's kid is the best chance the Replicants have for a future of their own.
Gut shot, stabbed, carved up and beaten to a pulp, he doesn't stop-ever. "Dying for the right cause is the most human thing we can do" is the creed he follows in the end. He made a decision because it was the right thing to do, even though it went against his programming. That's what you call character development-he was truly his own man by the end. Add in the beauty of the way the film was shot, the horrors and the wonders? Been a LONG time since I saw a film this good.

There’s a moment of uneasiness when Luv says: “Home”. It’s the same feeling you get (although to a lesser extent than) during the scene where Wallis says “Oh I have millions...”. It’s that hollowness in your stomach that comes with science fiction’s ability to bring out the grotesque. To prick our curiosity and then hold us back before crossing the veil, that moment where some things are better left to the imagination. With a glimpse of replicant “birth” in this film, I get flashbacks to “The AniMatrix” short where all the humans are being utilized as batteries for the first time. Millions of replicants being created and then interjected with memories before they can even be allowed to comprehend their own existence. It’s like build-a-bear-except the plush toy is now a specimen of high functioning biological species...

There’s a nod to Ridley Scott’s ALIEN in this scene by the way…Yep! At 2:25 Luv emerges out from Ford’s chest. Ford plays as if he’s agonized in sync with her emergence. The sound effects added much to the nod. The moment ‘the Alien’ = Luv looks at Ford and the camera is indescribable.
Magnificent cinematography and a good gesture from the director…👏

The only thing I think they missed out on here was the fact that K is basically asked/told he needs to kill Deckard before he can reveal information and when K obviously chooses to do something about it and hunts down the transport ship it should b ambiguous what his intentions are. It felt like that was sort of where it was headed. Doing what he’s told, even if it’s by the good guys now, would still be doing the right thing but would still mean he’s a soldier, just for a new cause now. Him making the choice to save Deckard really should have been his defining moment and the film could have really played in the ambiguity. For instance when he starts firing and walking up to the car even a short moment where it seems like he is going to shoot Deckard, even just holding his gun ready to fire and happening to be looking at Deckard, even just for a second or two, would have really elevated and pointed out the fact that he is deciding to do his own thing, for his own reasons, and to act like a human being rather than a soldier. It just feels like something they could have gotten far more out of in this scene.

    • @8020Alive

David Hunter... No need for any of that because you forgot the previous scene where K was looking up at the Joi hologram with blood on his hands... "that was the moment he made a choice"... Remember what joi says "she will be anything you want her to be."... It was the push he needed to rise above his programming.
