Got the Batman chase from TDKR up th-cam.com/video/w4SlU_nmfUA/w-d-xo.html. Tried getting the Last Jedi throne scene up, but it kept getting blocked by Disney, so I'll have to figure out a way around that. The opening scene of the Revenant one should be up tomorrow or in a couple of hours.

In my opinion, the actor playing the interrogator is amazingly cast. He looks as if he came right out of a 1940s print advertisement, perfectly fitting the film noir aesthetics of the scene. Great voice as well.

If you look carefully, when Leon first fires the gun, a black shape emerges from it. That's because, as per the making of BR book, originally the gun was supposed to fire a black beam (sort of like an anti-light plasma) but the effect didn't photograph well against the dark backgrounds and was too laborious to create so it was dropped after that one instant.

During that July week, we saw Rocky III, E.T., and Blade Runner. Blade Runner was both of our favorites of the 3. All of the movies had merit and were entertaining, but this one was so poetic and beautiful. Tragic too. Blade Runner was a box office flop. It didn’t suit the mood of the times, but it has stood the test of time. People love it because it plays tones that live deep in the human soul & spirit. Blade Runner swims freely into the deep end. It will stick with you if you give it a chance.

Fun facts: one of the reasons why it rains so much in the movie was because Ridley Scott was disappointed with some of the set designs and he used the dark rain as an advantage to hide a lot of the sets. Second, just like the book, the constant rain illustrates pollution and climate change! And in general, rain can often be a symbol of darkness, sadness, despair, and gloominess.

A society that is both a bewildering & jaw-dropping spectacle and at the same time a dystopian & nightmarish eyesore. While technology has advanced at an unfathomable speed and humanity has colonized the stars, at the same time, earth is a polluted, dying cesspool. It does that fact justice and shows it to you as it is. Everything is perfectly put together to show all the beauty and disgustingness of this setting. It’s sad that we seem to be heading towards it in some ways.

I remember seeing this as a kid in the late 80's. At that time it looked totally plausible that the future would look like this. No nature, no trees, crowd everywhere, some sort of organized mess... It reflects the anxiety of this era. That was meant to be my future. Maybe someday.

Its really obvious when you look at the opening scene where the flames are shooting up into the sky that Ridley Scott based on the scenescape overlooking the Wilton ICI chemical works in Teeside near where he lived. The towers that the flames come out of look exactly like those towers in a chemical works.

Still hits me hard when the scene comes up from the crawl. It was awe inspiring when i first saw it. All the hope for the future that was still 35 odd years away mixed with a sadness that it’s not a nice future and a wonder for the architecture and tech, those thoughts and feelings are still here. Less now that it’s all passed but still it’s a beast of a scene.

"The Ministry of Truth was startlingly different from any other object in sight. It was an enormous pyramidal structure of glittering white concrete, soaring up, terrace after terrace, 300 metres into the air. From where Winston stood it was just possible to read, picked out on its white face in elegant lettering, the three slogans of the Party."

Never realised just how good Brion James, is, in this scene.
He works out, early on, that the whole test is going to pot, and that he's going to be exposed, very quickly. You can see him get more and more frustrated, and desperate, as it goes on, until he can see only one way out...
