She didn't strand the others, they broke the warp pad themselves.
She wasn't mad that Steven was working out, she was worried that he admired Suglite's power for the wrong reasons.

Pearl was annoyed cause she knows sugilite is carelessly powerful (and expensive to voice), she knows that she is a bad example for Steven and was completely dismissed, but she's a little jealous, we later find why
I love the implication that Pearl knows they're all cartoon characters who need voice actors.

@@vilmublues752 Actually it's not Pearl that knows they are all cartoon characters, but Garnet. But because Garnet can be pretty intense, she went on and hired an expensive voice for Sugilite because for a powerful fusion one needs a powerful voice.
You pick up a few things when you help form Sardonyx.
Pearl was jealous, yes, but its not like she wasnt right either. Sugilite WAS too destructive. Garnet and Amethyst fusing together WAS excessive. It WOULD have been better if Pearl and Garnet had just fused instead. The problem wouldve been solved just as easily, and the teleportation pad wouldnt have been destroyed.
Garnet was right, too. They did deserve it. They rashly came at a decision that put Steven as well as a bunch of townspeople, in danger.

Believe it or not every episode of steven universe has at least one important info that helps build the story, the world, the future, the present and the past. For example, "together breakfast" feels very filler but it's our first look at inside the rooms in the temple(even rose's room) specially the one where they keep the bubbles and some other stuff that i won't explain.
Right? Rewatching the early episodes with context feels like a totally different show. You see them foreshadowing SO much.

One other thing I remember is the time travel thing, there was all the boat on the sand, cause that was when lapis barrow the whole ocean
This was something once claimed by the creators, and people immediately took it at face value - but it's kind of false. No, not every episode has at least one important tidbit of info or develops a main/relevant character or character relationship, some examples being Frybo, Steven and the Stevens, and Onion Trade (and those are all from Season 1). Mind you, I like all those episodes (Onion Trade is whatever), but it's kind of unnecessary trying to justify their existence beyond being just filler. They're filler and that's fine (because yes, filler can be great, just like story-progression episodes can be terrible).

@@ChunkGamesYT Nah, they do like SU. I’ve seen their later reactions and they’ve been gushing about it and how it was way more complex than they expected and one of them said it’s the show they look the most forward towards. They’re 100% paying attention, sometimes they just misunderstand things.

Ok so clearly there are certain things that you might have missed or just interpreted in a way that wasn't the intention which can happen, we're all different and take in information differently. I just wanna say to the people upset by that, just remember that these guys dont have her full story yet. They don't have the connection to Pearl that we all do, it's why we are all here, to see these fun goofy guys discover her and all the other characters and find out who they really are and its best when its organic.
Let them be wrong, because this show will show them in time that they were wrong, no need for us to step in, the show will do it for us !😁Plus when it does their genuine uninfluenced reaction to it will be that much sweeter to watch. I will say though, you did talk over that song a tiny bit more than I would have liked ONLY because all of these songs are SO JAM PACKED with feelings and information and world building that you really should pay closer attention to them but I don't know if you really knew that so I'm not mad about it just wanted to give info! Love the reaction guys, I can't wait for the next one!
You’ve legitimately been one of the few that came in with a level head and understand that we don’t have the hindsight everyone watching the video has.
Unfortunately from this videos response it seems like the type of fanbase that isn’t going to allow us to just experience the series without people telling us we’re wrong regardless of if we should know yet that we are.
It’s unfortunate as it’s going to just result in us not feeling like we can give our honest opinions. So we’re all probably going to just double down on smack talking her until the toxic ones just hate us, leave and stop watching our videos lol
Thank you for understanding though. Just wish the rest of the fanbase had the level head to understand this. Especially because of how good of a show it is. Just sucks to see this side of the fanbase of a show we all love from a character we literally like.

I hope it’s just due to the editing but I hope you guys are actually hearing/listening to the dialogue, especially with the songs. I get that spontaneous singing in shows isn’t appealing to everyone, but in SU they tend to be important. They add subtle character details and growth, along with lore background.
And as a future hint, episodes beyond season 1 have a LOT of misleading episode titles. Meaning if the title sounds like it’ll be a plot relevant episode, it probably isn’t 😉😉

Something i love about this show is that gem stuff is the epitome of “any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic”
Yeah, I feel like the Gems just explain stuff as magic to Steven to make it easier for him to understand.
The idea that the Gems are giving Steven opportunities to take charge in the interest of eventually making him their leader is a really interesting take that I haven't heard before. Whether he's right or wrong, H-Man is always very perceptive, and usually seems the most attuned to whatever's going on in a given show.
So, the songs on this show are important to the character arcs you know. 🙂
There a some fun theories for Rose’s Room. It gives you what you want, but it bases it off of your memories/imagination. So the person that Steven knew and understood the most, his dad, was the most lifelike. He didn’t fully know him, which is why his dad “glitches” in the end.
Greg is also one of the people Rose knew best so if any of Rose's memories were left in there it would have boosted it a bit too.
There must be some because at this point Steven never heard Rose but the Tiny pink whale has her voice!

There's no right or wrong in "coach steven". Pearl wasn't upset that steven was trying to work out or trying to spend time with his dad, pearl does'nt like the brute force that sugilite represents and she didn't like that steven was so excited to see a being that's so out of control, sugilite isn't a bad person but that lack of control just shows that garnet and amethyst needs some development so they can form sugilite with a better mindset. This episode also presents some REALLY important stuff for the future but it's just the tip of the iceberg, so you guys don't need to worry abt it, have fun watching.

For future reference when gems fuse they become a completely different person with their own thoughts and personality they aren't the same gems anymore they have abilities that are there own and they have separate memories.
But they still have all the knowledge and memories of their individual gems. They are NOT completely different because fusions can be unstable in instances if one gets distracted or changes their mind. Sorry, but I cannot concur

I think part of the reason Pearl was so bothered by Sugilite and getting beefy (along with wanting Steven to have a good role model and jealously wishing she could be that for him) is the fact that I don't think Gems can train and get physically stronger the way humans can (not like, body-wise.) Sure, they can shapeshift, but their base form remain largely the same.
So it’s skill that makes the difference and sugilite didn’t teach that

Yea a lot of people struggle with the concept of hindsight. We have all dealt with this from the anime community constantly. We have always praised the communities around cartoons and live action since that doesn’t happen. Sad to see it’s alive and well in the Steven Universe community

The gems are cool and all, and Steven looks up to them, but it doesn't mean they're all always right. They're also all flawed people, capable of jealousy and pettiness, but it doesn't mean they're all always wrong either. And it's episodes like this one that start to show that Steven's role models, at the end of the day, are still just people.
When two gems fuse they create a whole new personality that’s a mix of both for better or for worse
Sugilite irl looks pretty awesome and the colors match her design in the show really well. Btw, enjoyed the reaction.

I have a theory that most fans SU tend to dislike the character that they truly resemble and Adore those who they stride to be.
Like loving Garnet and appreciate pearl but not quite (wanting) understanding Steven or amethyst, or something like that.
Because back in the day I didn't really cared for Steven that much and in the final seasons he low-key bothered me sometimes but I still loved and adored pearl and Garnett, but because of how amazing they are they are low-key what I want to be, and Steven kinda resembled my struggles and thing I felt ashamed of.
But maybe that's just me, still i love this show so much, it has helped get through everything.

I personally like all the Crystal Gems, but I think Garnet's the least interesting. Pearl's always been my favorite, but that's partially because I'm gay for her lol.

Pearl may have been jealous but she wasn't wrong. Sugilite is cool and all, probably one of my favorite fusions but she is chaotic as hell and puts everyone in the situation in danger. Sugilite combines all the reckless tendencies of Garnet and Amethyst and has no regard for others' safety.
Pearl likes to nag and might be often some what annoying but that's because she cares, she's the voice of reason in the group and her role is important.
I never really liked Amethyst during season one, but she grows on me as she matures later on in the series.

I agree with you guys about Amythyst. She was my favorite character in Steveen Universe. She retains her free spirit, but shows a lot of growth through the series.

Sugalite is a powerhouse when it comes to fusions, but is unstable in personality and relies only on brute strenght and no brain to fight. When Garnet and Amathyst spend too much time fused Sugalite takes over and becomes a danger for others near her.
A fun fact.. Sugilite is voiced by Nicki Minaj.. and thus.. expensive to have her be voiced... so don't expect too many appearances (if any more iirc sadly) with a voice

I see a lot of comments hating on the Pearl slander and I think it's completly unjustified. Remember that they have no context to any of the characters. Their reaction is natural and expected. That's how the creators of the show wanted us to see these characters.
I've watched the show while it was airing all those years ago and I remember the time the fandom didn't have the context either and we were hating on Pearl too when this episode first came out. It was only later that we learnt the motivations, the complex history and the details that made the characters act the way they acted. Especially since this is not even the midway point of S1 - WE KNEW NOTHING.
So my point is, just enjoy the content and watch this all unfold.

i know this is already been a month (i'm quite late with watching this series reaction lol) but coach steven was basically about how raw physical strength is not the only way to be strong. this was why pearl disagreed with sugillite fusion, rather than being more careful, they just wanted to be messy and just be mindlessly wrecking stuffs (which got the teleport pad broken). steven was showing interest to this and pearl doesn't like it because, as we have seen thus far, she is the most protective of steven. it's similar to when a parent sees their child be amazed by deadly stunts and want to try them out.
People who say the early stuff has no plot just don't understand how plot works

I guess my initial comment sounds a bit harsh, but I've just been a bit tired of seeing so many folks dismiss early SU (and similar shows) as "filler"- when I feel a lotta the more "heavy" stuff only is as effective as it is due to them letting us get to know these characters more naturally earlier.
It's like two important parts of a greater whole and all (imo ^^;)
Edit: I should also clarify I wasn't referring to you guys there (I've been enjoying your stuff!) but more like stuff from the comments here and overall.
I mean, the way the show is, Pearl initially does come off as the 'strict rules mom' type and Amethyst is the 'fun free sister'. I get why you feel the way you do. A lot of people here don't recognize the fact they have already seen the entire show, and seen certain arcs and character growth. So their opinions of characters are fully formed with all possible backstory and lore. I'm sure your thoughts and opinions will change as you get through the show, I mean this is barely episode 20. We just BARELY are starting to get into some real story, and even then not much.
The only thing I will personally agree with, is the talking through songs. They're the best part and its a shame you might miss some. I hope that doesn't sound rude, I enjoy seeing you guys react to this show!
The song pearl sing is more about her persona than anything,she wants do be Strong in more ways than one and to be reconised by that,she is a amazing character and you will understand this soon.

Regarding some fans disliking amethyst, while she's one of my favorites now, I was not a fan of her in season 1 and thought she was quite annoying, ironic cuz I actually acted a lot like her sometimes without realizing it, so it was probably a case of just seeing a side of myself I didn't like in her. Around the end of season 1 and early season 2 was when I started noticing that I related to her quite a lot
2:03 Honestly Chef Boyardee Ravioli wasn't terribly straight out of the can before they changed how much paste to sauce ratio, It used to be good and "meat saucey" and now it's just liquid with ravioli in a can..

I’m binge rewatching these Steven reactions and I need to something on the canned foods discussion from the very beginning of the video.
I have eaten so many canned foods right out the can, I’ve been through multiple hurricanes and a snowstorm that knocked out all power and just normal ass rainstorms that knocked out my power so straight up eating canned foods I’ve down countless times but 1 canned food I refuse to eat uncooked is peas.
That’s an absolute disgrace right there, I’ve eaten ravioli out the can, beans out the can, corn and creamed corn out the can and even cream of mushroom soup but none were as disgusting as them raw peas. And I LOVE peas so much, only 1 thing was worse then peas and that’s asparagus.
A lot of people seem to be upset and I'm just here, vibing. I can't wait to see them discover the different facets of their characters.
