A fun fact, it's a popular fan-theory that Garnet's future vision is part of why she got stuck playing the rhythm game at the arcade way back at the beginning of the season. She was stuck hyperfocusing on what was going to happen next on the screen.

I always thought that was just a given? I thought that’s just what happened? I don’t really think it’s a “fan theory”.
Imma try to clear some stuff up without the use of spoilers:
The Kindergarten was a "mess". Pearl and even Amethyst know that. However, Amethyst believed that Pearl's disdain of the Kindergarten goes deeper to her not liking Amethyst herself. Thats what the problem was. Amethyst should be proud of where she came from, yes, but when that "place" symbolizes so many wrong things, you can forgive Pearl for not being able to speak the right words.
When Pearl calls the Kindergarten a "mistake", it sounds to Amethyst that she is saying that Amethyst should not have been born at all, but we know thats not true. Pearl wanted to shield Steven because of what that place stood for, not because of the things it had made.
And I mean ok I get it it’s popular to automatically hate pearl and everything she says and does. BUT when you actually take into account the context of the situation and who she is. And how much she’s actively trying to be there for people and she’s not just being flat out rude or anything just because, you get a much better understanding of her. I guess it just takes patience really but not a lot of people have that unfortunately🤐

@LXW-Arts no where in the show did it every seem to me that she had any negative feelings for Steven for “replacing rose”. She was hurt and confused when he was first a baby but nothing past that to my knowledge. She shows genuine love for him often and is the first to panic when he’s in danger and shows him motherly affection all throughout the series. Also, all the other gems were 100% onboard with them kidnapping and trying to get Rose out of him when he was a baby, they watched her try to get the gem and did nothing because they were also thinking it would help. She did almost get him killed, which a lot of characters in the show almost did. You don’t have to like Pearl at all since it’s up to the individual but she’s not much more flawed than any other character. Most people like her because she’s flawed and ridden with grief but has great development (a matter of opinion so you can disagree) and loves Steven genuinely like a mother and try’s her best to teach him.
@@LXW-Arts 1. She wasnt mad at steven for replacing rose though it did at times look like it to steven. The real problem here is that she failed to clarify that for him in the earlier seasons.
2. Ofcourse she'd be mad at Greg. He was her rival for Rose's attention and he won in the end. She took out her frustration on Greg because she wouldnt and couldnt admit that her feelings were unrequited. How would you feel if you devoted yourself to a person for millenia only to find out that that person would rather have this creature she met for just a few days? Would that not make you resentful?
3. She had to lie to amethyst and garnet. It was physically impossible for her to talk about the shattering of Pink Diamond because that was her last given order.
4. Most of the gems almost got steven killed multiple times. For amethyst and garnet, the most glaring example is the episode where they fused into sugilite, when they neglected steven's safety leaving pearl to evacuate him. I think its time to admit that the gems as a group werent really great parents when it comes to keeping steven out of danger. We cant just lump it all on pearl.
5. She had no understanding of how humans worked back then. Remember that even though theyd lived on earth for a long time by then, they willingly secluded themselves from human contact until they met Greg. For gems, childbirth is literally unfathomable. They couldnt really understand that Rose basically died in childbirth because it had never happened before. Childbirth is such an alien concept to them that they tried understanding it with the closest and familiar thing to it which was fusion.
Steven Universe has a lot of nuanced plotlines and characters, and choosing to only see black and white will only make you take things out of much needed context. The show also uses a "show dont tell" style kind of storytelling. Its important to understand what is being shown rather than taking things at face value.

Something about Garnet's realization that most of the possibilities of Steven getting hurt came from her is pretty sad. She just wanted to get closer to Steven, which is undeniably sweet.
One small musical detail that I LOVE: when Amethyst hugs Pearl, the little piano bit that plays is a snippet from Amalgam, the song that played when they fused into Opal! Shows that their bond has been repaired in a subtle way!
I think On The Run is still one of the saddest episodes in the series for me purely because we get to see Amethyst, whose normally goofy and energetic, have an absolutely meltdown and still to self loath. Ngl I absolutely feel that cause I do the sometimes! Especially the line “Im not gonna let you stand there and remind me of everything I HATE ABOUT MYSELF”, that hits a little bit close

On the Run is pretty emotional, especially the scene where Amethyst has an emotional breakdown about the things that she hates herself 😢
Which judging by how many time she does it through out the series, there a LOT about herself that she hates
I think the last scene was to give an idea of SCALE. This huge empty lifeless place FILLED with holes where gems were born. So many gems. It gives me graveyard vibes for some reason. Even though this is a place of birth, not death. Just this eerie atmosphere and this knocking sound in a quiet.

I love how pretty much everything Hman said this episode was wrong, and everybody else was pretty much spot on lmao

- In Future Vision when Steven was making a sandwich of lettuce, sliced cheese, & mayonnaise that is a reference to Rebecca Sugar's shorts called "Singles"
- The No Home Boys is based off The Boxcar Children & The Hardy Boys, but Amethyst makes a reference when she says that hole is "hers" then slides into it are references to the horror manga "Enigma of Amigara Fault"
DAMN, just so you guys know, silver members are starting season 3 reactions today. They double drop episodes, but since SU episodes are only 11 minutes they basically drop 4 at a time.

I like to think of the reason is Amethyst is like, well, Amethyst is because she is made in Earth. Rose, Pearl and Garnet all from Homeworld so they are technically aliens, but Amethyst is the most human one in the gang, after Steven ofc.
That little "exercise" Steven and Garnet do is a Japanese tradition and is less of a "workout" and more of a "wake up and get the blood flowing" routine. I used to work for a Japanese company, and it was actually very energizing and refreshing. I still start my day with it even working from home nowadays.
Seeing the decent of you guys going “haha funny rock show” to “Gems were destroying the world” is so funny to me 😭
I mean Pearl is right though, the kindergarten is a mess and it was a bad thing, just because something good like amethyst came out of it doesn't necessarily make the kindergarten something good.
The story for On The Run hit Amethyst's VA hard when she read it, as she was born in Korea but adopted as a baby and raised in America.
"YOU have to talk to her". Steven's laying down the law like a leader.
That final bit after they leave is a focus pull to show you that the Kindergarten keeps going, and that there are potentially /thousands/ of holes in the walls.
I love the way that their conversations goes from Steven Universe to a common sense battle about what is better to put on a bread, Mayo or Butter
On The Run is one of those episodes you'll love even more as you progress into the show
there nothing wrong with adults' voicing kid characters that's mainly the childhood of the 90's Tara strong and Cree Summer are prime examples of doing it perfectly
Yeah tbf, child actor laws have been improving but they're never ideal, so as long as they sound as a kid and not an adult forcing a voice, I'm fine with it
Those VAs are talented but personally I can tell that they're adults putting on a child voice and it comes off as cringe.

It can rub people the wrong way to be told to be ashamed of literally EVERY aspect of their country, nation, and even ethnic group. There was literally only one Owl House episode every 3 months. We're not replacing it with anything and the Steven schedule is staying the same.
steven kinda gets close to losing his sanity in the future vision ep, just like in warp tour, poor kid
and ouch, on the run is heartbreaking, that episode made me see pearl and amethyst as a mother and daughter, or older and younger sister, their argument hit close to home, especially amethyst's words :( i'm glad they made up at the end though. Pearl can be quite insensitive sometimes, but she didn't intend to make amethyst feel bad or anything, they have disagreements but pearl doesn't hate her, they are family and have been together for years

On a sidenote of why I think there's such a disconnect between you and your audience when it comes to Pearl; I don't think that they eventually learnt more about Pearl that made them like her, but that the audience liked her from the get go and were more willing to look past all the mistakes she made. I don't It's about hindsight of her character arc, rather them having unconditional compassion her her as a problematic person.
I don't really see a massive disconnect between us and others. We like Pearl, except Hman mostly. The people that have threatened us, sure there's more of a disconnect there.
