The producer of the album is Landon Tewers. Gabbie does not credit him AT ALL. It’s seems messed since he’s responsible for making this happen for Gabbie

      @ashtonbetker ปีที่แล้ว +4

No, the producers are LYRE, Chapters, herself, Trevorious, Zarie Koalo, and Landon. She does credit him all the time in most of her TH-cam videos (that are now deleted) but at the end of every song that was written WITH HIM not just her alone she credits at the end of the songs. Aka “Written by Landon Tewers” she never didn’t give him credit. In mostly all of her TH-cam videos working on the album he was in them and always always talked about how he will be apart of the album.

    • @ashtonbetker
      @ashtonbetker ปีที่แล้ว +3

You clearly have done no research on it at all. Every single song she has written that wasn’t written alone she gave credit to at the end. “Written by whoever” in her music videos in the description she always says a thanks to the producers and everything. Please stop making her out to be the bad guy about “not crediting” when she does. 😂

    • @ashtonbetker
      @ashtonbetker ปีที่แล้ว +2

There’s even Instagram and tiktok posts with Landon who is right there helping her with it. Why do you think he featured her in a song of his? He wouldn’t not speak up about this if it was true. He is in a very very big band and it isn’t his first rodeo, he wouldn’t let someone not give him credit for being part of an album by a billboard charting Artist who has over 200 million streams on A LOT of her songs and EPs and not say a single thing about it. He is friends with Gabbie 😂

I’m just happy to be here before the inevitable copyright strike.
The album isn’t bad. And I enjoy the (try) to break from her past sound. The orchestral music in the back, the more dramatic and serious vibe is actually kind of cool! My HANGUP though. Gabbie seems to always follow what she thinks is the necessary and ‘perfect’ formula for lyrics / her sound in general. It’s always the same flow and often the words choose to be thought over too hard because they don’t actually flow like a normal sentence would. Put the thesaurus down. Go with that FEELS right, not what mentally you believe follows then playbook. . While it’s cool to have a distinct style and sound to you, it would be cool to see growth and break from the ‘rules’ she feels to be following. If that makes sense. Also, in my opinion the overall vibe feels very 2011-2016 alt rock / scene / pop punk. It’s nondescript. It sounds like something I heard years ago that faded into the background or i thought it was kind of cool but I didn’t care for ENOUGH to put on my playlist.

    • @JB-tt6ct

I actually find her lyrics refreshing cause of the weird words breaking generic format. Someone said she is very anal about the lyrics being true to the inspiration story and her emotions, however outrageous or weird they may be. Also i like that she isnt't bound to love stories which is 99 % of songs today. A lot more life topics covered.

Regardless of anything else about Gabbie Hanna, the quality of her music production and vocals surprises me every time. I don't always like where she takes her melodies and tone, and I still think she doesn't have a full harness on her own sound. But as far as a TH-camr who's trying to break into mainstream music, she does better than most. Butterflies is still one of, if not, her best.

  • @LAbeauty316
    @LAbeauty316 2 ปีที่แล้ว +29

since you requested, here is my review lol
3:56 stone heart: absolutely shocked that i love this song omfg i agree that it's a great song. her vocals have improved so much (not that she was necessarily bad before but DAMN). i also hate that you had to mention jiz. i did NOT hear that and now that's all I can hear😭😭😭
9:29 rewired: i LOVE this genre of music so this song is really doing it for me. i love it too. I'm so shocked about how much I genuinely like these songs so far. again, her vocals wow. like I'm actually wanting to add this to my spotify playlists.
13:16 i sold my soul: i agree with something being off. it's very disconcerting. maybe that was the point? idk but i agree that I did not like that intro. after the first chorus (i think it's a chorus anyway) i think it gets better. it sounds more intentional and like an actual technique they do in music (idk what it's called). again, I love this genre so the vocals and drums I really like. personally I like the borderline scream singing, but i think that's definitely a personal preference thing.
17:28 trouble: i absolutely LOVE a good string bass in songs😩😩😩 immediately interest. again, this genre is my style so I really like it. i think her voice suits this genre. you seem to be more particular about lyrics than me. personally, I usually don't mind so long as the music and vocals are good.
19:21 runaway: i agree that you can't really tell where it's going. to me this one seems like a disney song more than trouble. it's a bit too pop-y for my tastes. I'm getting tinker bell movies/luca vibes. i agree, boring for me. the vocals are definitely good though. it didn't seem to fit in with the rest of the album.
22:30 warning shots: i like her vocals. they're very dark. i also love the technique she's doing where she goes to a note that doesn't really fit, like it contrasts. I'm not sure what it's called but i love when singers do that. i was into it until the synth? part in the chorus. it's too pop-y again. i feel it doesn't fit. I'd rather just some hard-hitting drums.
25:46 wish we never met: these vocals are really nice. i wish it developed into a full-fledged song. this could've been a really good song i think.
27:47 highlights: the intro is really good. i like the slow down before the drop. again, this genre is a favorite of mine. oooooo the echoing backing vocals. i love that. again, this genre REALLY suits her voice. i hope she sticks with this genre. i could see myself listening to this regularly.
31:50 head in the clouds: are those whistles or birds? they sound good either way. it adds some nice interest and variety. also really like this one. it's a good break from the hard hitters in the grand scheme of the entire album. also the strings. i have a weak spot for strings (i think they may by violins). even though it's quite different from them, it still really fits with the album.
36:01 silver lining: it gives a bit of country vibes but in that way some pop and rock songs sometimes do. it's definitely NOT country, but something about the guitar and bass reminds me of country, which i personally really like. i would have loved if this were longer. i think overall it's a good song. it's building back up from head in rhe clouds to the more hard hitting songs like rewired and stone heart. it's not as soft and relaxed as HITC, but not as intense as the others. putting it here was a good choice.
38:01 when I die: yes! back to more intense songs. pretty much what I've been saying for most of these. love this genre, vocals are good, etc. i think this one is really interesting though bc the vocals and instrumentals are actually quite bright but the title and lyrics are kind of dark. i like that juxtaposition. honestly I really hope gabbi truly focuses on her music career. if she keeps this direction and trajectory, she really could have a great career.
41:07 happy in the end: okay in the context of when she released this song and the letter she wrote that you went over, this song is kinda gut wrenching tbh. this is my first time hearing it so that "i hope you've forgiven me" really threw me man. these vocals are phenomenal. i agree about the rasp adding to it. spot on with that. it makes sense what you said about rough not sore btw. i think the difference of the bright vocals from the previous two songs to this one as the ending feels meaningful somehow. i can see myself listening to this when I need a good cry or to wallow in my depression. you can tell she put a lot of time and her whole heart and all her emotions into this one. I'd bet it holds a lot of meaning to herself and others.
overall, i liked this album. i think a couple were eh but still fit. runaway though i felt was just thrown in there just to have it. it could have been a single. it just didn't fit. besides runaway, i could see myself listening to this entire album. a few songs I'd even listen to in my regular rotation. overall she did a great job on this. again, except for runaway, she did a great job of sticking to the same overall genre and staying cohesive while still adding variety to the songs so they don't all just meld together and sound the same.

I will not forgive Gabbie Hanna for what she has done, full stop. I will not preface my next statement with a “but” or “however”, because I don’t want to detract from the previous statement: I think Gabbie has musical talent, I really do. I think she has hard rock vocals. “Trouble” is a song that reminds me of the hard rock bands I listened to in middle and high school, *and I am not saying that to be insulting* . Her range and delivery vaguely reminds me of Lzzy Hale from Halestorm, or even Miley Cyrus when she did that cover of “Heart of Glass”, which I love. Her Lyrics aren’t any worse than mainstream rock, they just sound bad because we know Gabbie’s history and real personality. If she leans into this harder, raspier, scream-to-the-stars angle then she would be playing to her strengths.

What’s frustrating about her being so prideful about her artistry is that the best part of her music is from her PRODUCERS each and every time. The music and instruments and layers and editing and tempo and beat and overall composition of the MUSIC is done by the guy who makes the song and each time she works with someone who is a young guy in LA that’s just incredible. She used to post videos of her “making” songs and it’s basically her at a persons apartment and she will sing what she wrote and he will play like 6 different instruments and make the song up WITH her sometimes making the decisions and choices for the best parts. At best, she is a singer and a writer, but calling herself a musician and artist is doing a disservice to the producers who actually maker her songs and compose them with their own hands and computer skills.

Even though i do not like the actions of Gabbie Hanna, this album is actually pretty interesting.
Stone Heart- a very good opener. The vocal layering was done well, the slow piano and violins rising and falling, then the eventual move into the energetic drums. I could hear this song in an anime or a montage of two people who are in an on again/off again relationship.
Rewired- Nice instruments. Vocal range has improved and it definitely shows on this song. Feels for more teens and young adults rather than a universal.
I Sold My Soul- The instruments and vocals dont feel in sync. It feels chaotic but not intentionally chaotic. Like it feels as if the song wasnt supposed to sound how it does, but she went on with the sounds anyway. Almost accidental. I do like the story of lyrics.
Trouble- Off the bat, the song has a Disney channel or Nickelodeon movie intro or sing a long. The instrumentals throughout have a sense of nostalgia, however the lyrics are very generic. I feel like the song was just a fun one. Like just a song to play with your friends.
Runaway- The vocals and the production feel reminiscent of Alessia Cara’s earlier work. The song feels like it’ll be played in Target or Tjmaxxx. Not much there like the songs near the top of the album.
Warning Shots- the guitar and build up sound great. The low pitch of her voice sounds pretty nice. Wasnt expecting the tecno sounds in the chorus. The versus and pre chorus sound better. The chorus feels kind of like an after thought. Lyrics are pretty clever.
Wish We Never Met- i like the conciseness of the song. The simplicity feels nice against her gritty and powerful central vocals and background vocals. Can seem too simplistic against the previous production chaotic song. I do like the contrast.
Hang Ups- the song feels reminiscent of Disney channel again. I feel that she plays with nostalgic sounds pretty well. The intenseness of the chorus feels a bit too much contrast but the transition back into the verse really ties it together. Probably one of the best songs on the album. Nostalgic and yet still fresh. The amount of layers is really nice.
Head in the clouds- typical sound associations with clouds. Acoustic guitar sounds nice as the main sound. The contrast and simplicity of the sound association is pretty dope. I appreciate the lack of strong percussion and the soft sounds and the electric guitar solo is super dope. This song has a lot of thought behind it. Its just really good.
Silver Lining- probably an interlude. Simple and pretty good sounding. Layering is done well. Not amazing but not horrible. It sounds pretty good but at the same time can be lost in the other sounds of the album.
When I Die- Again with the nostalgic Disney channel like sound. The drum pattern is really dope. Even though the instruments have energy, they are still quiet enough that i can hear her voice clearly, where in other songs its not as clear of a distinction. The vocal layering again is really well done.
Happy in the end- the piano fading out after the one is a nice touch. The build up is great.
The higher vocal register and rasp add such beautiful emotion and the lyrics are really beautiful as well. The in and out of the sound is super cool as well. Absolutely agree that its the best song of her career. The song actually brought tears to my eyes.
Overall, this album is pretty versatile in sound and is done with such detail. The improved vocals, the vocal layering, the production, the lyrics, super amazing. Some songs were better than others, but the transitions and contrasts between each were really interesting. Pretty solid album.

-"Runaway" is the one song that has potential theme wise. It could be about the premise of wanting to runaway from oneselves. But they can't because where they go, there they are. Some people who should not be in a relationship, make it hard for their unwilling partner to leave because they don't want to be alone. Some "move on" with another partner because they can't be alone.
-For "Warning Shots", she should play more with warning shots being equivalent to red flags. How characteristics one fell in love with also have a con/dark side to them. So actually they were warning shots. Then go into specifics in certain characteristics, like "You fell for my perfection but now you see it is about control" That way each verse or hook is different, like "7 Years" by Lukas Graham.
-Overall, the theme of the album is nice. How one gives and recieves trauma which creates a cycle that is hard to break. How to acknowledge one is a victim, perpetrator, and both at the same time. Can even play with one's vocals to give the abuser and victim different voices. Many great artists have said good songs comes from a conversation. These conversations add in other perspectives. Philosophical talks can occur to better clarify subject matter, adding more turns to the song. That way, there is more lyric variety and a story can be flushed out.

Stone Heart: seems like a song that would be in a CW teen drama. Is well produced, good vocals, but personally not a big fan
Rewired: Again, great vocals, although it seems like the instrumentals were louder than gabbi. Where would I hear this one? Another CW show, maybe about vampires, or in a hot topic
I Sold My Soul: The part where she said I sold my soul was the best part. I think if this was made to sound like soft, pop, olivia rodrigo style, would be better.
Trouble: it sounds the same as rewired.
Runaway: why does this sound like an underproduced one direction song TELL ME IM WRONG. This song would be heard in an Aeropostile or Urban Outfitters with an employee who shouldnt have the aux
Warning shots (? sounded like horn shots but...): It has potential. I think by this point you can see her vocals sound the same in each song. I'm not a singer, but as someone consuming her music, since shes using the same tone in each song they all blend into one and none stick out.
I Wish We Never Met: so far the best one. It focused on her voice and wasnt overshadowed instruemntals. had potential if she put more into it.
Hangups: Sorry adams, I naur likie. The production is always great but this shouldve been like 1 or 3 on the album not this far in to get a good one.
Head in the Clouds: "it doesnt sound like a gabbi hanna song thats why i like it" same sis
Silver Lining: It was fine. felt longer than a min 50
When I Die: I stopped paying attention....
Happy in the End: Gabbi stay in this direction stop all the inbetween hot topic, CW songs.
In conclusion: No, I would not sign gabbi to my record company. i forgot what we were supposed to be but I stand by me not signing her. The album should be cut into only : Warning Shots, I Wish We Never Met, Head in the Clouds, and Happy in the End. The others are just a generic formula that she has trapped herself into. All the songs I didnt list sound exactly the same. Yes, she has a good voice, but I don't expect there to be a HUGE change in her song writing choices from here to her next album and I imagine I'd lose money instead of making it if I signed her.
Gabbi Hanna fans if you see this its not meant to be mean. I just want her to EXPLORE MORE OPTIONS. She has a lot of potential and just making the same songs over and over is gonna get old, even for you.
Adam, Shantay you stay. Gabbi, sashay away.

Stone heart was really emotional: Loving her vocals on the introductory track. Why is it sounding exactly the same as monster to me? Oop-
Track 2: Boulevard of broken dreams anyone? This is kind of classic rock and why am I actually jamming to the drumline?? 🤨
I sold my soul is the absolute last track I could handle. The beat and the Wiccan voice had me gripping my ears. Sounds identical to mashed up soup. 🍲

I absolutely can't stand Gabby but id be lying if I said that first song wasn't amazing... except for the jizz part. Other than that I'm honestly impressed. the second song is nice, but it's giving Paramore (I hate Paramore) or halestorm gone Disney. Trouble sounds like this also. The other songs really didn't do much for me, just kinda mid. Overall it was okay, and I know everyone has to start off somewhere. With some work I think she could be good. The voice is nice, but the lyrics and instrumentals are lacking. I hope she spends more time on this music hobby and chills out with the antics and psychotic behavior.

My thoughts: Gabbie did a major disservice to herself by releasing all but 3 songs before the album dropped. It made the release really lackluster.
Stone Heart: Sounds like a demo. Needed to be built up more. Just sounds unfinished - when the orchestra kicked in it was good but it should have gone heavier from there.
Rewired: Best production on the album by a LOT. Has some good lyrics. Note here that her track listing isn’t great, it’s a weird follow up to Stone Heart.
I Sold My Soul: It’s all over the place, really dislike the vocal effects. Again has some good lyrics. Too repetitive, I agree it sounds “messy”.
Trouble: Love this song, this and Rewired have the best and most complete production by a landslide.
Runaway: I HATE THIS SONG LOL. I can’t get over how bad it is holy shit. Zero redeeming qualities, bad beat bad lyrics, just yikes
Warning Shots: Banger, definitely my favorite. Should have been the album opener.
Wish We Never Met: I absolutely love the way this song starts but I wish it WENT SOMEWHERE. Just when I thought the song was going to build, it ended. And I was like…oh. My biggest disappointment because I really really like this song but it only sounds like the first half.
Hangups: No notes really. Sounds like your standard filler song but no complaints. This song really made me realize the girl does not know how to write a bridge though lol. One of the best of the album by default as it’s one of the only ones that sound “finished”
Head in the Clouds: Love, one of my favorites for sure. Wish the girl knew how to write a bridge
Silver Lining: WHY THE FUCK is this song under 2 minutes? It’s so GOOD. Just lazy and unfinished and it pisses me off she didn’t add anything more. See that to me shows she did not give her all.
When I Die: The biggest disappointment by a lot. I was REALLY looking forward to this song and it deserved better production. Sounds like a demo. Why Gabbie?
Happy (in the End): I also detest this song lol. Really can’t stand her vocals or anything about this track. Bad way to end it
Wish we had gotten The Light is Here (or whatever it was called), Sleepyhead, or Today. Some of her absolute best tracks are unreleased and it’s puzzling. Last note, this is not rock by any stretch lol. It’s very much still a pop album. The narrative and track listing makes this album weaker. It’s just incomplete and seems like there wasn’t much thought into making a sonically cohesive unit and it bothers me lol
Bad Karma EP remains her best work.

List of Producers of Trauma Queen
Stone Heart - LYRE, Nathan Cloos
Rewired - Landon Tewers, another random producer
I Sold My Soul - Landon Tewers
    Trouble - Landon Tewers, LYRE
Runaway - Zaire Koalo, Trevorious, LYRE
Warning Shots - Landon Tewers, LYRE
Wish We Never Met - LYRE, Nathan Cloos
    Hangups - Landon Tewers
Head In The Cloud - Landon Tewers
Silver Lining - LYRE, Nathan Cloos
When I Die - Landon Tewers, Nathan Cloos
Happy (In The End) - The Chapters, Gabbie Hanna
I really REALLY suggest checking out Landon Tewers if you’re a big fan of metalcore as he makes the best music, he is also in a band called “The Plot In You” their recent release last year is so beautifully amazing and each song just sits in the right place of sad and angst. I don’t know if you knew this but Gabbie is also a feature in Landon’s EP last year “Frontal Lobe Submission”, their song is called “F Pacing” and it’s such a cute R&B song, it really shows a different side of Gabbie’s soft vocals.
For LYRE, they have worked with literal Billboard artists! They recently started working a lot of K-pop artists like Red Velvet and ITZY, they’ve been Gabbie’s producers since “Honestly” and “Honestly (Encore)” but they started to stop working with each other because LYRE is a pop production team while Gabbie is heading towards rock, so it’ll be kinda hard for LYRE to change their direction just for Gabbie’s fitting so it makes since that Gabbie is working with more rock producers

So after listening to the first song with you I was so surprised that stopped your vid, went and listened to the whole album, and now I'm back and I must say:
No I don't like Gabbie Hanna and while I like a few (maybe 3-4) of her past songs I wasn't particularly a fan of her music either. This? This album absolutely blew me away. I've never just straight up loved a whole album set of songs on the first listen.
My mind works in stories when it listens to music and each one made a little mini-movie for my brain.
I can already see all the AMV's and Animation MAP's because these songs all hit their emotions so well (even the slower ones) and work perfectly for story telling because of how broad the emotions expressed are. I could think of multiple video ideas for each song regarding a character of mine or a storytelling aspect I wish to portray.
This whole album feels like it's a conglomerated movie soundtrack that never stops hitting it's mark and that's my absolute favorite type of music.
She's getting really good at finding her niché regarding musical style, at least in my opinion. The themes and the 'edge' from her past work are still there but it really feels like the combination of experience writing music and the commitment to how dramatic (I mean in the way she portrays her subject matter, not that the issues she sings about are overdramatic to sing about) her style is in the first place has transcended the edgy teen vibe that just didn't hit before.
Still not a fan of what she's done and her constant denial of ever being in the wrong in past situations, but if I didn't know her for anything but her music, I'd be a very hardcore fan after this album.
Thanks for your videos like this Adam! I probably never would have listened to this otherwise 💖 keep up the good work!

She is genuinely a great storyteller. Yeah she jumped on the trend but she would fail if she didn't have the chops. Listen to her antisocial media and Sleepyhead for spoken word, its amazing. I don't know what happened with her poems, but she did write a couple of short story essays that are biographical, atmoshericly haunting.

@@JB-tt6ct Thanks for the recommendations! Yeah I was wondering about her poetry too and I initially wanted to chalk it up to being older work but it's not that old when I think about it. To be fair the whole book felt rushed and like very little heart was in it compared to literally everything else she has ever put out there, but I'm not Gabbie and apparently it was very important to her so far be it from me to assume what actually happened in spite of all the context clues.

    • @JB-tt6ct
      @JB-tt6ct 2 ปีที่แล้ว

@@Sunny.SideUp as for her poetry first of all who does a 200 page long poetry book that she also illustrates? That was a shot in the foot, probably publishers pushing volume and price and deadlines. I am not a fan of the free verse or know how it sounds when done right. I even watched Rachel Oates review and she put Shakespeare sonnet and Edgar Allen Poe to compare which i thought was ludicrous and frankly unfair. Cause what ever that haiku tweet style is, its modern and not that studied in school.

    • @Sunny.SideUp
      @Sunny.SideUp 2 ปีที่แล้ว

@@JB-tt6ct I agree that it's an unfair comparison and it's definitely a very particular stylistic choice that's not my particular preference in poetry. It's been soured further than it as a standalone work should/would have been if not for her reaction to the criticism, no matter how disproportionate. If she had made the points you're making right now in equally as calm a manner I think overall her poetry would be way less hated and picked at, but now it's buried in the embers of that whole dumpster fire.

i sold my soul - 7/10 i like the chorus but i just feel like we were all more excited about it and were let down. it's def based around antisocial media which i found confusing as she already released that.
trouble - 6/10this song was made during her manic era we can all tell.. i like this song tho overall the dance she made on tiktok was an experience. she's a sitting duck! rhymes w fuck! the little girl part was cringe.
runaway - 8/10 this is one of my favs icl, the verses are calm and i like her calm voice.

It's interesting to see that Gabbie and Demi have once again flowed down the same path. The parallels between them and the waves they've taken in the media space is so facinating to me. like it feels like when we were getting peak gabbie drama on this channel, mainstream dramas was picking up on demi with the whole frozen yogurt thing. Now they are both gearing towards this new age evanescence, girl rage energy and both dropped albums fairly close to each other. When you think about it they came from backgrounds of child entertainment and were forced to perform and be perfect for a lot of their lives so I understand the urge to reject that ideal. I grew up with their work, and i know for a fact I would have eaten both albums up when i was in middle school early high school. But looking at them from a 22 year old perspective its really abundantly apparent that they both see this as growth but I see it as teenage that never truly grew out of and push on others (expecially with their drama out lashes)

    1. I like the transition in the middle and very Evanescence-like.
    2. Boulevard of Broken Dreams meets You Don't Know Me from Victorious. Her vocals are too quiet for the instruments
    3. Her intros are similar to each other but I do like the "Villan going insane" vibe like the aggressiveness on the "burn"/"turn"
    4. Very Demi Lovato during Princess Protection Era but if she was allowed to swear
    5. Eh, it's too short in how she's saying runaway. If she had dragged it out like Sia - Alive, then it would be better
    6. I agree with you on liking the verses but not thr chorus. I think if she didn't pitch up and yell "shots" different than "you heard the warning"
    7. It seemed unfinished like she needed another drop/break in the rhythm but never figured it out like in Butterflies
    8. This has "scream in the car on the highway" vibes and I like that
    9. I like the limited instrumental in the guitar
    10. Not bad, not my favorite
    11. This is a good song, like a montage song for like someone working on a project to get back at others
    12. The ratio of soft singing to raspy, I would have preferred more soft and less raspy to really push the emotional parts of thr raspy like when you hear someone's voice break from trying not to cry
Overall it's a decent album but I struggle with separating Gabbies music from her past. It's hard to hear the emotions and not know that some are connected to her making herself the victim

    1) Pleasant at first but I was quickly bored of it. Cannot unhear those words now haha.
    2) Agree that it's very generic, basic 'look mummy I'm a rockstar'.
    3) I liked this, would blast it in my car on a fast drive. It gave me Evanescence vibes at the start.
    4) Number 2 again.
    5) I didn't hate it, it just sounded like it didn't really fit. Some bits seemed mismatched.
    6) Started off so well but another disappointment.
    7) Simple, cute, fine.
    8) I enjoyed this.
    9) Would add to my chill playlist.
    10) As above but should've saved it until she had a fully formed idea/song.
    11) I like it.
    12) Great song to end with, I love the emoness of it.
