This is why I bought this car, picked up a '13 candy red LTZ a few years back and has been an absolute treat. Excellent reliability, and good fuel economy as long as you maintain a light foot.

I'm thinking about getting an 2012 ltz with 95,000 miles..what should I check for to know if the car is in good shape?

@@Amg13055 check that Carfax! Service records, make sure it has had regular oil changes etc. The timing chains on these motors can stretch if it's not given its annual oil changes so be sure it doesn't clatter when it's running. Check the suspension for clunking or rattling - Most common part to go are the rear rubberized links which cause the clunking but are cheap to fix. Check for Excessive rust around the door areas and rear doglegs because if you see it there it's going to be Swiss cheese underneath the car. Check the climate control unit for heat/ac functionality. Also like any gm car the ball joints, when they go it usually sounds like a airplane. since it's at 95k I recommend coolant change if it hasn't been done already. spark plugs will need replacement as they need changing at the 100k Mark. Don't listen to anyone who says these are lemons, they are only lemons if they aren't serviced at its required intervals like anything else.

But in all seriousness, the 3.6 should have been in these cars from 06-13 but the improved LFX version came out in 12. However, the older 3.6 engines had timing chain issues so maybe I retract.

No, They are between 6.1-6.8 depending on your launch and track condition.
If first gear wasn't so tall it would probably be under 6 seconds.
These 6 speeds ratios are really horrible. Anyone who drives an Impala with a 3.6 know they pull hard as hell between about 4800-all the way to redline.
And the shit to 3rd gear drops the car out of its powerband, Yet a shift to 4th is perfect.
Gearing is the biggest issues with Impalas. Im mean 2200 RPM is 100mph. You almost don't even need 6th gear in this car. GM could have spaced the gearing much better. Typical American gearing.
