    Thanks you for your comments! I do my best to keep up with them for the first few days after a video comes out, but due to the volume of comments on all of my videos, and to the general hustle and bustle of life, I must give up the fight after a while. If you are leaving a question four or more days after a video comes out I can't guarantee I'll see it, but perhaps one of my other viewers knows the answer and can help out. Thanks in advance to those who contribute and share their knowledge. Cheers and stay safe everyone!

    Your WR250F looks great. I have one as well and a KTM 300 XC-W. I think you're right about the WR's suspension being great, feels very planted. I don't think the WR is really more ridable than the KTM though. True, the KTM has more power overall, but the newer ones are essentially fuel injected so the power delivery is very linear and manageable, and useful with no surprises. There is no 2-stroke powerband hit (which some people miss). Also, the KTM is lighter with much better bottom end, making it easier on tight trails and thus not stalling. I've noticed better fuel economy on the KTM as well which does require oil, but it mixes itself and holds enough in its reservoir for hundreds of miles of trails. But I think you're right about the WR's advantage in reliability, even though I haven't had trouble with the KTM yet, and affordability of the WR when buying used - my WR has been bullet proof. My son has a Beta X-Trainer 300, which is lighter and more ridable than anything out there. Enjoy the trails, they look wonderful!

    This is the bike that I should have bought!
    Instead, I bought a Husqvarna TE 250. The mixing oil is no big deal, and the maintenance is a breeze.
    The bike is amazing, and I have had no mechanical issues yet.
    The only downside is that it is stinky, especially when cold.
    Having a dedicated off-road bike is the only way to go!

    I think a better decision would have not been a wr250f simply because the touchiness of the throttle isn't very conducive to singletrack use. I use a yz250fx and I would know this. A good example would be a KTM 250/300 or beta 200/250/300. I use a 300 Xtrainer and a yz250fx (which is just like the wr250f you ride)

    Excellent bike! Another one - Yamaha XT250. Yes, it's not up there with WR250F in suspension, etc. But it will do everything you through at it and it's road legal. Single track, super rough single track, forests, trails, dirt and highways too (with windshield, I can do 5-6 hours of highways without too much tiredness). I downsized to XT250 from some big/powerful bikes - and I've never had that much fun on a motorcycle before!

      The xt has it's shortcomings and I'm sure this WR is much more capable but it's small size and trials like handling have taken me many places where dual sports (Japanese dual sports) usually fear to tread.

    • @oknevals
      @oknevals 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Well, Rambo rode XT so, hard to beat that 😄
      Seriously though, I don't think XT is comparable with real dirt bikes. It is kind of weird machine because it is more forgiving for novice but, it requires some serious skills to pull its full potential. It took me too some stupid places that I would never try had I had clue what I was getting into. But, we both miraculously survived, a lil banged up though. The most annoying thing about it is how it suddenly stalls and usually at the worst time and place.

    • @SquareHelmet
      @SquareHelmet 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@oknevals I used that cool clutch practice from @IRCTireUSAMoto I think when you roll up and down a slope with clutch only. I almost never stall now on any bike!
      I agree: narrow purpose dirt bike will do its thing better, but XT250 won't be far off with the right skills. And when you get out of dirt - you can ride home! When I ride it I feel like I have the ultimate freedom - I ride on a road, see some horrible washed out dirty trails in the forest - and just go there because I know XT will take me there and back. I could never do this on bigger bikes (BMW GS's, even the 650 one I rode years ago). There is nothing on the market that combines 11" ground clearance with 31" seat height, unkillable reliability at about $5K. Anyway, I have 2 bikes and plan to add one more next year (Suzuki 800DE), but XT250 would be the one I'd keep if only could have one.

      @oknevals I had my engine just die without warning maybe three times in 4 years but it was disconcerting. I agree that the high ground clearance and low seat height are a marvel of engineering. Here's a fact for you.. turning radius on my klx is 11 feet on xt 8.

    • @DifferentSpokesTV
      @DifferentSpokesTV  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Well said! That's my point about getting off the beaten track. It's so nice to get away from it all. The XT250 will definitely be in the running when my wife Brooke is getting back into riding in a few years. That bike is deceptively capable for being so reasonably priced.

    So I sold my WR250F this year. It was a great bike (2015 very similar to yours) but if it wasn’t being ridden hard, it wasn’t being ridden the way it was meant to be. I have a street legal WR250R that I upgraded with GoRace suspension bits. Yea it is heavier than the WR250F or the KTM200EXC I had before. But it is plusher and more versatile than a dedicated dirt bike and I have always found I could ride longer and less fatigued with the R version than the F. I think for the riding you do, you would prefer the R as well. Just do the suspension upgrade.
    The WR250R is a legend. Have ridden it for long rides on the road before I got to my 4 bike stable, and it rocks on the singletrack or the rocky muddy Muskoka woods trails.

    Great bikes. I have both the WR450F and WR250F. The 250 is my son's. They are 2023 models. I also have a 2018 TE250 two stroke. I am most impressed with the
    WR250F in the way that it handles. This is the first four stroke dirt bike that I feel handles like a two stroke. The bike is not slow, has plenty of power. I feel these new
    Yamaha's need more kudos. They are in my opinion the best value. Reliable, excellent suspension, tuning capability, and are cheaper than the Euro models.
    I have owned many of the Euro's. I would not go back.

    AS far as used enduro bikes go, you'd be hard pressed to go wrong on a Yamaha. As you get more off road experience though you might want to consider a bigger CC bike, not so that you can go faster but you can be lazier on a bigger bore bike. I'm a lifelong dirt bike rider and the bigger bikes are more forgiving in terms of gear selection. I ride a Beta 300 and I also have a Beta 480. For me the smaller CC bikes are for riders who like to rev their bokes hard. I'm what they call a lugger. I like to cruise around in a higher gear with lower revs, and I carry momentum by being smooth and consistent. You can't ride a 250 like that. Don't get me wrong, the WR250F is a great bike and is perfect for the skill level that you describe yourself as having. A bigger bike is something to consider going forward.

      Dual sports are road legal and enduros are very good off road. Sometimes those two overlap like with the KTM 500EXC, but more often dual sports give up some off road performance like with a KLX300 or CRF300L. Then there are pure off road enduro bikes that are generally not road legal like my WR250F or Beta 300RR. These are great off road because they're built for that reason only.
