    I’m an 85 year old in Hawaii. I watched the video yesterday ND I LOVED IT…SMILED, CRIED and wished I could have done it!! You did it justice and I thank you for sharing it with me and all! I am a woman, too! Don’t think I can walk that hard anymore. That’s why it’s important for someone like you to share your experiences. Love to you🧡🩵❤️

    I watched your film documenting your Camino last night and it has inspired me to go do the journey myself. I am planning to give my 30 notice on Monday and then taking off for the Camino at the end of the month.
    I have never attempted anything like this before but your film made it seem very doable. I already enjoy walking 5-10 miles every day so I figure it won’t be too physically challenging for me 😅.
    I just purchased a few of the things your recommended. Thank you so much for the inspiration.😊

    I can also recommend safety Pins, in case your clothes have not dried until the next morning. Just pin them to your Backpack. A few washing pegs, there are notoriously few on the camino. And a pack of Dr. Scholl blister plasters. If you don't need them yourself, you will meet people in dire need. Same goes for some ibuprofen. 😅

    I felt this video on so many levels. I walked Camino Frances August/September 2020 and it took me almost 1 year to unpack. And just as long to get over the Camino depression. I still sometimes cry thinking about it. I am planning to walk again next summer. My love for the Camino is stronger than ever. Hence why I am watching Camino videos! Looking forward to seeing your videos!

    • @StefanieHurtado
      @StefanieHurtado  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Aw wow, thanks so much for sharing that! The post-Camino depression is REAL. I had all these plans to be productive when I got back but stayed in bed for a week straight 😂 Now I’m reliving it all as I edit the footage. I can totally see now how people become addicted to it. Hope you have an amazing time next summer!!

    Hola Stefanie, hice mi primer camino el 30 de abril de este año(2023) soy de Costa Rica,
    Fui sola.
    Habia estudiado este camino desde hace mucho,leyendo,viendo videos,películas etc.
    Una amiga se fue una semana antes y me pudo asesorar en algunas cosas.
    Las medias fueron lo más importante para mi,compré una botella que se comprime en Amazon y fue genial,en el camino llenaba la botella,llevaba otra extra.
    Hay que ser práctico para hacer el camino, menos es más.
    Para ser mi primera vez siento que fui muy bien equipada.
    Ah por cierto el clima estuvo entre 11 y 14 grados.

    I had been looking at Camino videos and this video came up, loved it, thanks for making it. I felt for you at the end when you got emotional talking about it. I rode my motorcycle solo from NJ, USA through Mexico, central America and then from Colombia all the way to Ushuaia, Argentina and everytime I talk about it I get emotional and I'm now 60 years old. It was such an amazing trip and I know exactly how you feel. I'm now subscribed and will be watching your other videos 👍

    Great advice abd well as d about buying things. We go through so many big cities peopoe forget the Camino isnt just wabdering in thr wilderness. I love the bonding with those sandala. I had a pair of boots that broke down on my second camino in Ponferrade. I put blister pkasters on the hole, then bathroom sealant. When i got home they became flower pots. Fantastic fundamentals youve nailed it. Factor 50 on the left side unless you're on the Portuguese! Sheet or blanket is best too, well sqid about washing, .although i'm more a bottle carrier. My top tips are drink water dont carry it and the wonderful pinkie test. If you can lift your bag with your pinkie finger then its the correct weight. If you cant repack! Loving your work here as the comments suggest people need to get fresh air and life is that simple. Im lucky living in europe as i have already had 3 short caminos this year with a full 4 weeks on the norte in September. Walking instead of running maies you realise its not a race, ita just a wonderful jolly journey

    Congrats for your second camino, well done. I just finished my first - walking from Porto to Santiago in December was quite a challenge (round x-mas, heavy rain at some point, flooded areas). Seeing you getting emotional just by talking about it - I totally agree. The camino does something with you... all the things you see, taste, feel, all the ups and downs, struggles and funny moments - that's such an intense experience. I loved it. Buen camino for you next trip!

    I just watched your Camino video followed by this one where you are talking about the equipment you took.
    Really interesting and helpful. It was especially interesting that you took the blanket and not a sleeping bag.
    Also that you walked in sandles. That really amazed me!
    I have talked with a friend who has walked the Camino many times, but decades ago. Of course equipment was very different, and he would take a tent and stove etc. I have not yet walked it...
    What I would suggest is next time you slow the filming down. Many times you fixed on a view or a sign, and there was not the time to read it. I am much older than and not only your age, but the fact that you come from New York, maybe you are just very used to speed 😊 But Thankyou so much 🙏🌻

    As a camino addict, I can absolutely relate to this feeling of the post camino blues. After 5 caminos it got me everytime. Such a nasty thing. :) But as the blues get less and less, one thing I don´t get rid of anymore. Whenever I talk about my pilgrimages, you can bet I lose my voice and my chin vibrates like a carengine. :) This emotional connection will never disappear.

      I'm going on my 7th camino in August - the camino blues never goes away. Except from the need to get the compostela certificate - which I haven't received since my 3rd camino. It no longer holds any value. The only thing that matters is the walk - not finishing.

      @StefanieHurtado  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@jesperkjaer8268 Yesss, at this point I totally agree! I almost forgot to get the Compostela this last time 😅 and don’t really feel a need to again, now that I have 2 with my Dad’s name on them ❤ The walk is all that matters-YES!

    Great video, fellow Brooklynite! I loved your pre-Camino vid and would love to see footage from your walk. Coincidentally I’m doing a mini-Frances right now (Pamplona to Burgos) and hope to do the whole thing next year. I did my first one last year, the Portuguese Coastal route, and am constantly evaluating routes to do in the future. I don’t know if obsession is the right word, but it’s very going to be a part of my life from now on too. Buen Camino!

    • @StefanieHurtado
      @StefanieHurtado  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Omg no WAY! How exciting you’re there now!! That section (from Pamplona to Burgos) has some of my favorite spots on the whole Frances! Hope you have the best time ❤️ I’m planning to do the Portuguese either this upcoming summer or next! It is 100% an obsession for me now 😂 so I feel you! And yes, footage from my walk coming very soon! 🤗

      When I did the Portuguese, to my regret, I skipped the Variante Espiritual because was recovering from a touch of food poisoning. So I need to either do the Central route or coastal again (since it was so spectacular) to make sure I get to see it. It’s supposed to be wonderful :)

    Did you make a video about the pre and post trip? Like airport and security with your back pack? Did you leave right away straight to airport after the Camino? Or did you stay longer in a hotel and relax? I just wish I had more details on the flight and how to prepare from airport to the Camino.. thanks- really enjoyed your Camino video and story about your father.. rip thanks 🙏

    • @StefanieHurtado
      @StefanieHurtado  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi! The airport and security experience is totally normal! My Camino backpack is carry on size and is the only bag I bring. I always give myself a couple days before the Camino to get over jet lag, and at least a couple days after the Camino to unwind and see friends. I talk about this in my "Post-Camino Blues" video.

    My Fitbit is very accurate. I would definitely bring it along, and please make sure to disinfect it because a lot of sweat accumulates on it from your wrist. Everyone needs sunscreen no matter where you are from. Darker skins burn as well. You are olive skin and definitely need sunscreen, always.

    Thank you so much. This is so helpful. how many pounds your backpack ended up being? Also if you could include the brand of your gears that you kindly listed in the minutes, it would be so helpful. I am going at the end of April and so excited about it.

      Hiii! I actually never weighed my backpack. I just focused on only taking what I needed and felt comfortable with. Also all the brands of the gear I used are included in my first gear video, so I just linked that in the description of this video :) Thanks for the suggestion!

    I watched your Camino video and thank you for sharing your experience. I do have one question and thats how did you edit/post video or did you wait until you returned to edit/post everything? I have mentioned to my wife about doing a Camino, but we are in our 50's and she always has issues with walking those inclines. LOL Seeing your video makes me want to do it. However, I have found that there are companies who can make arraignments for your Camino which include hotel/meal and baggage transfers. I think this way would suit us better to have minimal necessary things while going between points. However, also it means no matter what you HAVE to finish it and the longest distance is like 31 Kilometers, but most are shorter. One last thing usually those water bladders have ends that can be replaced. They screw off and you can buy some to take when you have chewed thru the others. ;-)

    • @StefanieHurtado
      @StefanieHurtado  หลายเดือนก่อน

      I wear the Chacos Z1 or Z1 clouds! The clouds are more cushiony and comfortable, but the regular Z1 is great for getting wet and drying right away. So the clouds are more comfortable than the classic Z1, but they get squishy when wet and take hours to dry. Z1 are also comfortable but take some breaking in so you don't get blisters. Hope that helps!
