  • Often times OCD and anxiety go together. While having one doesn't mean you'll experience the other, they can be closely related. In this video Dr. Patrick McGrath, head of NOCD clinical services, discusses how anxiety is related to obsessive compulsive disorder and how for some people getting effective ERP therapy can help with their associated anxiety as well.

I am terrified to get help because what if I do go to bed without checking the locks because of therapy and someone does break in! That would be my fault because I chose to get help! Everytime I have thought about looking into help, it freaks me out. 😭😭

Hi Kassie, it's ok to make a round through the house and check if all the doors are locked, and the lights are off etc. but only once, like most people do before they go to bed. Your checking once is not what is causing the problems, it's not trusting your initial check and constantly rechecking that is. A therapist can help you with that. I hope you have found a therapist already, but if not: Be kind to yourself and look for help!

@@MissSaneSun I normally have to check two or three times. I will lay down then have to get back up because I'm second guessing myself. That's just one example of what I go through. I have not found out. It's hard to find someone. I'm in a small town with people who are not very experienced in ocd/anxiety..

Instead of guilt, shame or disgust, could be other emotion? like feeling uneasy?
