    Just maybe a couple suggestions for your Patagonia yarn, which is one of my favorite yarns! I knitted a Morning Ritual by Andrea Mallory which turned out great and a good challenge knit. I also knit a Sheep Camp Sweater for my granddaughter for Christmas using Patagonia with 1 skein of SpinCycle. If you want to see pictures, I’m fine with sharing, and just let me know. Just found your podcasts, and love your conversations and your knitting esthetic. Thank you, and keep up the good work! ❤

      Hi Madlyn! Thanks so much for the kind words and the pattern suggestions! I just looked up the morning ritual and it looks SO cozy! The sheep camp also has such a pretty design + I can imagine the spincycle looking gorgeous as a contrast! I actually did wind up casting on a colorwork sweater with the patagonia (picked up a a contrast color ivory) and I hope to make some progress on that and share soon!! I'll keep these patterns in mind for future projects :)

    Hah! I weigh my yarn usage too ... more reliable in my opinion than swatching to gauge tension. We’ve all lost at least once, I’m sure, at “yarn chicken” lol

      Yes! Yarn chicken is a stressful game haha

    Great episode. I appreciate information how you substituted mohair in your projects, they turned out great. Personally I think that Noro yarn that you used, have perfect colour combo for your colouring. It has mostly browns and neutrals with just a hint of cool tone grey. It makes for the interesting combo, and complements your cool dark hair, and warmer tones go well with your complexion.

    • @tangerineknits
      @tangerineknits  ปีที่แล้ว

      Aw thank you so much! Haha, I spend a lot of brainpower figuring out whether / when I can successfully drop or substitute mohair, so I am happy to share my experience. And thanks for the encouragement about the Noro yarn! Can't wait to share the finish product in the next episode (I'm blocking it right now!)

    Patigonia is my all time favorite yarn & I use it all the time, I think I have two sweaters & two shawls with it already & another casted on with it. I also have one of almost every color in stash. It really is a good staple yarn & it blooms beautifully! I loved your projects & it was a great podcast I can’t believe it’s your first! ❤

    Hello from Mechanicsville! Did the November balaclava last year in Cascade 220. Great yarn choice. Sometimes I add a knit hat to it for extra warmth. Have enjoyed your knitting insights!

    I have never heard of alpaca being prickly; in fact it is my goto fibre for people who find wool prickly, like my husband lol.
    Very good show. I like how you go into details of your make and discuss them intelligently. I feel I can actually learn from you. Thank you.

    • @lynnbean7200

      Also, I never use superwash as I'm not keen on how it behaves. However, now I might try it on my husband.

    • @tangerineknits
      @tangerineknits  ปีที่แล้ว

      That's fair, I had heard the same thing about alpaca being soft so maybe it depends on the yarn / how it's spun! Thank you for the kind words!

    Hi Yiqi! great start, it looks like you've been doing this already for a long time! I was drawn to the video by the square neckline, I have that on my wish list but still not sure about the puffed sleeves, because I have broad shoulders, I like them on others but not sure how they would look on me. I know there is a version with simple shoulders. Your alpaca mascot is super cute! greetings from Italy 🧶🧶🧶🧶

      Hello! Thank you so much for watching! I was drawn to RefinedKnitwear's simple-shoulder version as well! I had been considering making a crossover with the simple shoulders :)

    Such a nice episode! I saw the thumbnail with a squareneck sweater…I can never find those patterns…it’s a great neckline for us larger knitters..very flattering..thank you!! For your rust colored yarn you showed at the end..have you looked into Andrea Mowrey..DreaRene knits? She has lovely cardis and of course the Weekender sweater that would make that color shine. I love all of your knits..you are very good and a quick study…wow!! I’ve subscribed and can’t wait to see what you come up with next. Great podcast..very impressed! You go, girl! :)

      Aww thank you so much for the kind words, it really made my day! And totally - I don't see a lot of square neck patterns so I was super excited to find this one as well. Oooh I had not seen the Weekender sweater, thank you for the recommendation!

    Nice to meet you Yiqi. I love the color of your square neck top; puff sleeves are a favorite of mine. I like your ribbed yoke sweater also; you go on undoing those BO's and then ripping back all those sleeve lengths to reknit them. Aw, love love the alpaca stuffie. So cute! Are you on IG?

    • @tangerineknits
      @tangerineknits  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Stefanie! Thanks so much for watching! Haha, undoing the BO's and ripping back the sleeves took absolutely forever, especially because the yarn is so fluffy... but I'm glad it saved the sweater! I actually haven't had IG for a couple years - I'm considering making a knitting account but haven't quite decided yet!

    I am also in Virginia - Richmond. I find it a little challenging to find lovely yarn locally - I like to touch (fondle?) textiles before I buy them. Any recommendations?

    • @tangerineknits
      @tangerineknits  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello! It's true, it can be tough esp. if your LYS doesn't carry brands that you're into. I find it useful to ask the salespeople at the yarn store for recommendations! Otherwise, I do resort to reading reviews online / on Ravelry and taking a risk to order new yarns online. Good luck!
