I'm a knitter and. Cocheter and I can always learn something new. I was 7 years old when my mom taught me and my sister. I still can get ideas from other people. Crochet is quicker but I still love to knit too. I love the roll collar myself. Great job on all your projects and your choice of colors fit in at this time of year. I love to knit socks! And they are super warm! Your socks look great! What I do to have less ends to weave in when I use a different color heel and toe is I join the yarns in a Russian join. When you’re a row away from the color change cut your yarn and join to the next color ( I really dislike weaving in ends!)

I'm super impressed by all the research you did going into your socks and the sock surgery you did! Very impressive! When I started making socks I had a few that were off and just cast on new ones instead of fixing them lol
It really was surgery and I am fully aware that it's pretty overkill for socks haha - thought it was at least a good chance to practice a new technique! I was seriously considering just making a new sock too though haha

I'm super impressed with all your research into sick knitting - I wish I had gone about it that way. Instead, I learned to knit a dishcloth, made about five of those, then jumped right into vanilla socks! I guess I thought crocheting experience would make it simple (that wasn't the case, if you had any doubt!)
Haha, sometimes the best way to learn is jumping in the deep end! Agreed, I definitely had a huge learning curve going from crochet to knitting - it was a whole different set of fine motor skills that I needed to learn!

I love Roxanne Richardson sock tips. I picked up the book Sock Architecture, and that's got different heel and toe types laid out pretty nicely.

Here's a tutorial that's pretty similar to what I did! www.crystalized-designs.com/gnome-wall-hanging-free-crochet-pattern/ Some main differences: I used the half double slip stitch instead of double crochet, I sewed the hanging onto the rod with a cotton cord instead of making a "sleeve." I'm learning socks as well watching 'CrazySockLady' tutorial doing magic socks. I'll be to the heel on the 1st sock 2moro. I'm also using contrasting band, heel & toe. My colorway is similiar to your autumn tones. I have had a huge learning curve getting used to fingering weight yarn- band had to be frogged 4 times cuz I kept dropping stitches. Now it's good and I'm seeing progress. Cant wait to knit the mate to this sock. Your Ingrid sweater is absolutely stunning! I can't wait to see it completed and you wearing it! 🦹♀Sheer inspiration!! I was the same way - I had to frog my sock cuff a couple times while I was getting used to the fingering yarn and thin needles, but by the time I finished my first sock I was so excited to knit the other one haha. Here's a tutorial that someone else created for the Santa hanging which is pretty similar to what I did! www.crystalized-designs.com/gnome-wall-hanging-free-crochet-pattern/ A couple differences - the pattern uses double crochet and I used half double slip stitch because I liked the look better. I didn't follow the stitch counts but referred to the tutorial for how to add the chain stitch "scaffold" to weave in the beard. I also sewed the hanging onto a rod, instead of making a "sleeve" like the tutorial does. Hope this helps!!

For the Santa hanging, what I made was pretty similar to this tutorial www.crystalized-designs.com/gnome-wall-hanging-free-crochet-pattern/ - the main difference looks like the tutorial calls for double crochet for most of it, but I used the half double slip stitch. Otherwise mine just has minor variations :) Hope this helps!

Hello Yiqi, just watched your first two episodes and subscribed. I am in Montréal, Canada. Love your Noro yarn, the colours look great on you. I think the sleeves are fine the way they are, however if you want to ensure the stripes are an exact match between the sleeves and bodice, the solution might be to add a steek between the underarm and side seam. About the Caper coloured Shibui yarn, I think the Bough beanie by Claire Walls would look great in that yarn 😍 BTW, I have very sensitive skin too, but I have been trying to be more open minded about using merino wool and Alpaca as next to skin options. @TangerineKnits To be honest, I don't have a lot of experience knitting sweaters, and I have never steeked sweater, but I would imagine that they can be used for any vertical seam. I would definitely research this before doing it, but your sweater is so beautiful as is, I wouldn't bother changing it if I were you. As far as merino is concerned, I don't have suggestions for now, but I did buy some skeins of merino/nylon fingering yarn at my LYS yesterday and it is very soft. There are three skeins of dark blue Artfil Belle, one skein of ochre Fibrelya and one skein of light being Fibrelya. I plan to knit Caitlin Hunter's Talvinen with it. Otherwise, Knit Pick's Simply Wool Worsted is very soft. It is peruvian highland wool, which is a merino cross breed, so this may explain why the sweater I knit last Fall with it sheds like crazy, I am hoping the shedding will slow down over time. I am working on the Ingrid sweater as well, but struggled with the “X” Left single cable & Right single cable...i think that’s what they are called...but finally figured out how to make them (now that I put the project down for this month as I’ve been gift knitting - I may be challenged to remember what I did!! 😂) But I was wondering if you used a video tutorial for that stitch?

In your first episode you commented on the itch factor….I too am very sensitive to wool and would someday like to try knitting the Step by Step sweater by Florence. Yours, BTW is beautiful and the colors are lovely with your skin tone and hair color!. Do you think Cascade 220, Merino that you used for your mittens would be a good sweater choice for someone with sensitive itch factor skin, esp. around my neck? Or would you have a better suggestion? Hi Gayle! Thank you for watching and I hope I didn't talk too fast ha! I used the superwash version of the Cascade 220, and both myself and my boyfriend (who also has a strong wool sensitivityl) have had no issues with it, even to wear as a hat on the forehead which is typically very sensitive to wool. I actually have not tried the non-superwash version of the Cascade 220, though I do plan to! I can wear some (non-superwash) wool sweaters next to skin, depending on the yarn, but to be honest, typically they are more comfortable if I wear a long sleeve shirt underneath. I haven't found wearing a layer underneath to be as inconvenient as it sounds. That said, everyone's skin is different so it's always a good idea to test it out! I have heard the suggestion to knit up a swatch and tucking it under your collar or something as you carry on your day!
I should also mention that I haven't knit a full sweater out of superwash wool but have read online that swatching is extra important because of how superwash can grow after washing, so I'll put that out there! Also Merry Christmas and happy new year to you as well :)

Your projects are so beautiful! And your sock knitting experience is so relatable. It's so true. If you're wearing one sock while you're finishing the other one, I see many pairs of socks in your future. :)
When you knit them, did you decrease with the gusset back to 66 stitches or to 72? I'm so curious how you find the fit. My son has got some wider feet (they're so cute!), but I have trouble getting fit quite right...
Thank you! Haha yes I am super excited to knit more socks :) I decreased back to 66 stitches! I was concerned at first about the fit but I was trying on as I went and found the 66 stitches to be quite comfortable for me so I went with it

I have some Miyabi yarn that I was looking to use in a pattern, I think the sweater pattern you used is perfect! What size needles did you use to get the required gauge?
Hello! So I actually did not meet gauge and didn't think I quite could - I tried a couple needle sizes to swatch (4 mm, 4.5 mm and 5 mm) and liked the 5 mm needle for the drape of the fabric. I think if I went too much bigger the fabric might be too loose. My gauge was closer to 18stitches/ 10cm, so I just sized up to get the measurements I wanted. For example my gauge was 12.5% smaller than the pattern gauge, so I picked a size that was 12.5% bigger than my desired size and knit that size. My tension might be different than yours though! Good luck :)

How many skeins of Miyabi did you use? I have 5 but I'm not sure how many more to get
Hello! I used just under 4 skeins and my sweater is ~120 cm in circumference and ~50 cm in length measured from below the collar!
