- Hello and welcome. Today we take a first look at the @CZfirearmsOfficial Shadow 2 Compact. An amazingly well-build handgun with a pedigree that is, well, amazing. What are your thoughts on this new offering from @CZfirearmsOfficial ? My favorite part of hosting this channel is my interaction with you in the comment section. I bought one, took it to the range. I'm hitting the bullseye way more times than I ever had. I own more than my fair share of race guns.$1500.00 - $2000.00 price range. This gun is FANTASTIC !

Why do you need two Chad?
Over 6k downrange. lok brass palms and extended mag release. Vytal brass base pads. Eemann ultimate trigger. Dpm recoil system for the the last 2k rounds. And a 507k Vulcan. Thing stacks for me out to 25 yards fast firing. Fantastic handgun. As far as 9mm it’s just this and a modded 365x in my edc rotation.

What a great looking pistol! As winter is upon most of us, the ample trigger guard will certainly be appreciated by gloved hands. I agree, this one is going to sell fast. 👍👍

You're right , I tried purchasing mine about a month ago and I couldn't find it at gun stores or gun shows , that's how fast they were selling. Finally I found it at Gunbroker for $1399 , love this gun.

I have both the full size Shadow 2 and the Compact. I would be hard pressed to pick only one, but the Compact is much preferred for weight savings. Both pistols are excellent shooters. As was stated earlier losing the rear sight isn’t anything to worry about. Optics are much better tan just a few years ago. I have SRO’s on mine. If you have any skill whatsoever with a 1911/2011 the lockwork on these pistols is quite safe for carry. If you’re afraid to carry a Shadow you probably shouldn’t be carrying a 1911/2011. The Compact does have a place for a lot of people contrary to what some may opine.

Nice one! For that price a good choice. What they asked for at first was way too much. I don't like losing the rear sight.
It’s near enough to a Redback at 1/3 the price so you can feel ok about carrying it and scratching it up. As far as losing the back site, modern high end red dots are pretty robust. If you’re crawling around in the hills of Afghanistan then maybe worry. Streets of America? Well……not yet.

I was about to tell you about Cajun Gunworks trigger pack. I have it on my P-01 and SP-01 Tactical. We have the compacts at our shop. I'd like to get one.

Very interested in this gun, but I have some questions about the optics ready part of it. Where are the plates?
You have to call or go line and purchase them from CZ.
@@MDpolo thanks you would think for the price of the gun they could supply the plate.
The DA feature is basically a double strike capability if you have a light primer strike. I wish this was a real DA/SA. Nice looking though.😊
Depending upon where you live, you might not see one for a long while.
I have a PCR with the CGW pro package which I think makes it a very close competitive choice. For the money, I cannot believe this compact Shadow would be better. And consider, if you use you new Shadow compact for a carry piece and ever had to use it for defense, good luck getting it back from law enforcement anytime soon. Just think of all that money just sitting in an evidence locker. 😞
I think you should investigate getting one of the various CZ compacts and the CGW pro package and use what you save for more ammo! ;-)

Ordered one online at Range USA which my local store had one. Grabbed it for 1169 and drove as fast as I can to get it 😅. Now time to put 500rnds though this bad boy!

A P-01 customized by CGW or CZ Custom is the same price, and a much better option in my opinion. I have a P-01 SDP and I used to have a Shadow 2. The Shadow 2 was great, but no better of a shooting experience than my P-01 SDP, so I sold it.
Isn't the P01 much heavier than the Shadow 2 compact ? I believe due to the comparative frame materials.
I have a P01 Omega from CZ Custom shop and it’s the only reason I haven’t purchased this gun but I’m still tempted lol.
And my P01 is cut for an RMR and I don’t lose my rear sight
I owned one for couple months before I sold it (actually traded it). Shot very, very well esp. with my reduced hammer spring @ 11.5 lb. I would have gotten the Reach Reduction kit to reduce its double action reach if were to keep it. But its upper back strap, beaver tail and mag release just have too many unnecessary sharp edges and cut lines to be comfortable for my hand. It's coiled hammer spring system also necessitate a wider grip (from side profile) than I would like. I wanted to love it but just couldn't. As a race gun, none of what bothered me matters. But I am not using it as a race gun so it doesn't suit me personally.

Im on the fence between the shadow 2 compact and kimber kds9.
That’s a tough choice. I was facing the same choice. If it matters, the Kimber did not come home with me. Having said that I would’ve been perfectly happy with either one. The CZ just felt better in my hand. I would love to know which one you end up buying. Thank you very much for stopping by.

IMO the Shadow 2 was designed specifically for competition only . This version is cool because you can use it in CO for both USPSA and IDPA, unlike a FS S2 which is overweight for IDPA CO . The shorter sight radius isn’t an issue once u install an optic . I wouldn’t carry this pistol . I’ve seen a few experienced shooters AD at the range while decocking - wouldn’t want to do that at home 😬

I walked into my LGS and seen it, handled it and bought it. Haven’t seen one since in their shop. 😉 Just like the 15 round mags for it they are out of stock everywhere except a website that folks pay a premium for guns.

@@usmc6429 Only one had come in to my local gun shop when it was released and it was the one that I filmed - but didn’t buy it. It sold that day. It’s taking this long for another one to arrive. Three showed up yesterday. So I am seriously thinking about buying one.
@@MDpolo I haven’t seen another one at my LGS since I bought mine. They are in high demand and they won’t last so you shouldn’t wait long to make up your mind.
I might be in the minority but personally i would've preferred the compact to have a steel frame instead of aluminum. The extra weight would make it much more competitive, but still light enough for idpa carry optics and the compact size would be a good balance and eliminate the nose heavy tendency of the full size shadow 2.
ITS ALLUMINUM SO ITS LIGHTER FOR CARRY. THIS GUN IS MEANT TO BE CARRIED

I'm a huge CZ fan, but I wasn't impressed with the Shadow 2 Compact and sold mine after owning it about a month.

Anyone want to trade their compact version for my full sized Shadow 2? I want the smaller version
Don’t get me wrong, CZ is an amazing brand but they missed the mark if this is to be considered a “carry” gun. They would have been better off making this in an Omega model which would’ve allowed the hammer to be lowered with a decocker as opposed to utilizing your thumb. The low profile thumb safety is really worthless. Acommon complaint which I agree with. Just my opinion.
This is da/sa. That's the only way the gun comes. It just don't have a decockee

It's meant to be a carry gun. However the pistol has no decocker, decent manual safety of size for finger or worse yet internal firing pin safety. I wouldn't carry this gun and prefer the full size Shadow 2 for competition. To me this gun in it's configuration has no place on the market.

Feller, I'm of a mind that you don't know what in tarnation yer talking about.
I sonewhat agree with your points, especially re the FPB for a carry gun, but an extended safety is an easy install and a decocker isn't necessary for everyone. Hat said, I'd rather carry my P01 decocker 🤷🏻♂️
The shadow 2 is the only 9mm Id like t buy.Iv shot the fulsize and its scarry accurate.the shadow is the only other pistol Id trust my life besides my mark 23.
