Situation; Fursuiter wants to head to headless lounge to cool themselves and rest, or overheating. Along the way, people stops fursuiter and ask for a photo. Went to MFF in 2016. It was my first furry con and I wasn't even a furry at the time. Hugged the first suiter I met and forgot I had make-up on....I didn't remember, until about 5 hours later. To that random suiter, I cannot express how sorry I am that I did that. I wasn't even thinking at the time and I didn't know anything about furries at the time. :-( Luckily, I'm well-versed in the fandom now and I stopped wearing make-up. :-)
I 100% agree on the makeup thing - it's the exact reason I wore a cosplay outfit that didn't require makeup at the last comic con I went to. I was expecting to find at least one fursuiter there (I found three, actually), and I was glad I didn't wear makeup because I got fursuit hugs from all of them :)
Ahahah I was waiting for this comment >.> I think it's less so in aus because our drinking age is also 18. Its cheaper/easier to restrict your con to 18+ than allow all ages in terms of insurance
In the UK it starts with a legal problem; all the con staff would have to be cleared to work with children as a first step. It's a huge effort and cost that benefits very few attendees. And that's before you have to start gating off the adult parts of the con.
I went to tff 2018 with a suit and I couldn't handle the heat and I was depressed so we left. The next day I went without my suit and I had so much more fun. I saw so many suits and people of all ages and heights. Everyone seemed at home. That was my first convention and I had my suit on for maybe 10 minutes or less. Lesson: You can have a wonderful time without a suit
one thing you did not mention.. about smoking.. DON`T Smoke just outside the entrence.. this is a big reason.. if you dont walk enough away from the entrance because 2 reasons.. reasons 1.. the fursuiters will come outside and explore.. when at MFF or Nordicfuzzcon. they go outside to cool down. if you stand there smoking cigarettes. walk a bit away because smoke stick to the suit.. if you are at Eurofurence. go to Biergarten. have a drink and smoke.. or just go to a local bar and smoke. reason 2.. when you smoke to close to the entrance. it wil be your fault if the smoke gets inside the hotel and setting of the fire alarms.. normally if you smoke inside a hotel you get a big fine. this may vary from hotel to hotel. at eurofurence 2A hostel. you set off the fire alarms you would get a 700 euro fine. and for gudness sake dont leave your cigarette butts in the stairwell of the hotel. they wont be happy. just like that time Kage found cigarette butts in the stairs of the westin. you can smoke if you want. however. just walk a bit away from the main entrance so it doesnt bother too many people
reason 3: some of us have asthma and cannot deal with cigarette smoke at all and it's super shitty and it completely defeats the purpose of smoking outside if you're gonna force everyone to walk through your smog, anyways.
I went to a anime con and had my ears and tail on. I walked into dealer den and this random Asian lady came up form behind her booth and yanked my tail really hard and held and and speaked it for 15 minutes while I was walking around dealers den. Needless say I. Had report her to con staff
Guys, please don't touch fursuit props/cosplay props, literally any plush or thing. I have a little hamster toy because my hamster died while she was my best friend, and if someone would steal it/take it away, I'd really get anxious and depressed. Props can not be just props, but also really important items too. For example if someone would decorate an item essential for them to live, so it matches their cosplay ( for example an asthma inhaler) you may think it's just a prop, but it isn't! It's really important for them, because they may even die when they get an attack. So again, please PLEASE do not touch someone's "props". Thanks
I was at my first con a while back and people there were actually really nice and mostly respectful. Except for this one dutchie that actually legitimately made me so uncomfortable I went behind my freind, not even cute playing around "oh I'm shy and trying to be cute" no I legitimately was like " this person is scaring me please protect me." Basically, Me and my freinds were just walking around the con and the fursuiter kind of stopped looked at me, came at me with the whole "curious" act and when I backed up they kept following me and squeaking at me. My freind was like " oh do you want a picture?" But at this point I was literally behind her back looking at her with pleading eyes like "no please get this person away from me" I guess my other freind saw this and kind of drew the dudes attention away from me and was like " yeah I want a picture". After my freind who got his picture taken with the dutchie was like "the guy was telling me to hug him" and it kind of weirded him out and we all just got a really sour experience from it. Sorry for the long rambling but I guess what I'm trying to say is be respectful and mindful of people wanting to hug you/you hugging people/interacting with people whether you're the person in the suit or out of it.
Oof sounded like a pretty awkward experience. I feel like a special hand gesture may’ve worked but I haven’t learned any myself yet. I maybe would’ve made an X with my arms though and backed away. Still the guy should’ve picked up that you were uncomfortable
The people hugging without consent is probably the thing that worries me most about when I one day get a suit. Having restricted senses and not knowing whether someone is nearby waiting to pounce is very unnerving. I don't like strangers touching me generally, so a stranger touching me and my expensive costume without consent is a big no no.
Hi pocari!!! I ly so much i want you to know i appreciate that you take the time to make these wonderfull video's for us! You're the best furry youtuber ever, i always watch your video's while drawing 💕 Edit: ty for the heart! :3
I wasn't the wisest dog at FWA one year; someone offered a drink to me, I didn't see them make it, I trusted them since my friend knew them.....I felt that drink ALL WEEKEND....
Thank you so much for the tips! Im defiantly going to use these tips! I'm going to Anthro New England tomorrow (sunday). These helped me out sooo much. Again thank you! I also love your content and will share this with my friend who is going with me! (I am also an extremely young furry being 11 and I hope it doesn't get in my way of having fun!)
*Pocari talks about not going to an 18+ con when you're under 18* Me: That's absolutely no problem, I'd never go to an 18+ convention anyways. Wait... *Checks drivers license* I'm 20.
Its good to hear most of the don't are just common courtesy things! I'm pretty anxious about things like this and have a hard time picking up social cues in most spaces, I'm so excited for when I can first go to a con!!
One of the most atrocious things ever happened to the fandom since its old days. Look up Internet Historian if you dare. I didn’t even watch to the end. And watch Down the rabbit hole too. That should fill you in on the complete history of the fandom and how it has improved much since
@@darkfoxvora3254 It basically boils down to one simple phrase: The place where all the toxic furries went to. The rejects, the degenerates, the nigh inhuman beings. You can connect the dots from there, I assume.
Plush backpacks that have the pocket facing towards the wearer are great for keeping your valuables(phone, wallet, keys, etc.) safe at conventions or anywhere else you will find yourself in a large crowd. Plus they look really cute!
Having been involved in running a con I have to say the respect the hotel and guests one is really important. Nothing sours relationships faster than having other guests complain about the con-goers. On the flip side respecting non furries and, where they are interested, interacting with them is great! That family with the children should, unexpectedly, be having their best holiday ever. Fursuiter rooms are a particular problem for housekeeping. Even if it isn't the convention in the country you are in leaving a tip for the housekeeper really helps. Hotel Liason is an absolutely key part of convention organisation. They are often quite different from regular conventions and it helps to explain what to expect and work with the hotel to keep things running smoothly - it's a partnership. Little things from we will need all the towels - seriously, all of them, and given the chance furries will drink your bar dry - this is what they spent last year, and we have 15% more this time, so don't get caught short because everyone loses out if that happens. You know you are doing it right if by the end of the con some of the staff are wearing ears and tails! Oh yes, and on one occasion, commissioning a fursuit!
Thank you for the advice, Pocari! I only have 7 years left... YES! 7 years may seem like a wrong time, right? But for me as a 11 year old, loving the fursuit community, it's not that long! 2025 HERE I COME! ❤, BlueLeaf
A good way to let people know your boundaries and important info instantly is badges. I have badges that have "selective nonverbal", "deaf- please be patient or louder with me(dont yell)", "ask for: hugs, instagram, commission examples and prices" ect. Also dont forget your room keys, id, character badge ect.
I know how you feel with the heat but you got to say when it’s winter here it can be really nice exactly when you go to the snow in the mountains even then it’s a bit hot for fursuiting X3 but it’s still fun
Hey, I've a question about the "don't go at -18 convention if you're -18" part ! There's a convention in France, the Furry black light, it's forbidden to -18 to go unless they have an authorization from their parents. I'm 16, and if I get an authorization from my parents do you think it's okay if I go there, or should I wait until I have 18 ? If I go I'll be with my cousin and 2 other friends, so I'll not be alone, but they'll all have +18 and many of the furries in this con are +18, so will I feel kinda alone ? ^^'
The touching thing without consent I agree 100% with. I've never been to a con, I currently am saving up to buy my first fursuit, a quadsuit of m unicorn fursona. I know im not gonna have a whole lot of vision... so my first time going out in a suit to a con I want to at least have 1 other person to make sure no one is gonna grab me or touch me where I can't see them. It terrifies me! I'm not a very touchy person, so I get really nervous around a lot of people. Hoping having that moral support and being in a suit will help
Ahhh thank you for this! I especially appreciate the Consent for Contact point since I'll be having a suit soon and the contact scares me a little lol. I get quite anxious about touch, so I'm glad you mentioned that to your huge audience! Although the fact that it has to be said is also spooky lol
Honestly if I ever saw you at a con is probably be super shy. If I had a friend or someone with me, they'd have to force me to say hi. If I had the courage of probably ask fira hug and thank you for all the furry and fursuit knowledge you gave me. I watch your videos all the time and love them
A thing that's probably good to note; always approach a suiter from the front! We already have really poor vision from the head and if you have really bad anxiety, they won't appreciate a person just suddenly being there and it's worse if you touch them without them knowing
quick don't! if you aren't a furry, don't like or is just hateful towards the fandom and see someone in suit , please do not say any rude comments, attack them or bother them! it's extremely rude and could end up in you getting arrested or harmed.
The holy corn staff grants 5 of armor and makes 3-5 damage points per second, in a range of 2m It can also call an actual person to help you rather than wriggling the corn like a mage
Thank you for making this, more people need to see these things. The last furry campout I went to was at the house of someone I know, but even there I ended up being rubbed On my belly without consent by a fur I barely knew, and I also ended up with severe con crud that landed me in the hospital! So I'm especially glad you stressed the points about consent and cleanliness :)
Aberguine of "Furries In The Media" pre-records her vocal tracks, then mimes to them on camera. She gets nice, clear recordings that way and her suit mouth doesn't move anyway. th-cam.com/channels/yly7pcoKC-Nz2SC07NywKQ.html
Hewo Pocari! I’m a BBIIIGG fan of yours! :3 keep up the great work on your vids ^w^. I’m a 10 year old furry, Ive been watching your videos for a while now! You have inspired me sssoooooo much! ^^
These were helpful and I'm a lot more prepared for Anthrocon. One more key point, if a fursuiter is getting hot and tired DON'T ASK FOR PICTURES. I've seen videos of fursuiters on their way to the headless lounge and people start asking for photos. If you're going to take pictures, don't do it when they're overheated and if you are overheating and someone asks to take pictures, don't be afraid to tell them NO, you're not mean for doing so!
hey, just wanted to say love your videos! I am very very VERY new to the furry community and i'm currently designing my very first fursona at the moment. I dunno why but I'm like really scared telling my friends and family about this, prob bec of how much hate furries get, even though im already having a lot of fun in the community-- point is, when i'm older I will be going to furry cons and such. this video was very helpful, and your other ones have, too, so thank you! keep up the good work!
Very good points you have ! Some people get a little to close sometimes and makes it akward. I had a furry meet this weekend I had to miss because of the flu which bites...but ADORABLE suit you have 😀
Props to this person's Patrons! They seem to work very hard! Oh, and I really love your fursuit! It's a blue Kangaroo right? It's adorable either way!💙 (Thank you for the do's and don't-s by the way!!)💙
I have stress issues in crowded places, and the nearest con to me that I wanna go to is MFF. However, I think it will be a good step to help me get better at socializing.
Pocari I love your point about not needing a fursuit top attend events and have fun. In fact I don't have a fursuit and went to my first meet yesterday (truthfully almost the size of an actual con) to go bowling and I had such a fun time. Truthfully I think even some of the suitors liked the ones that weren't suiting because they could see your reactions and enjoyment.
I commonly cosplay and understand the need to ask before photos. I also wore my *first-ever* tail I made to school yesterday for dress like an animal day. It was made out of like a pink fabric that is lightweight and hotglue, It was stuffed with polyfill. So, I get about 2 hours into the day before a classmate comes up and tugs on my tail. At this point in the day, was also when the insults started rolling in, one of them that bothered me the most was "Why do you have poop leaking out of your butt?" KEEP IN MIND, I'm in late elementary school. IT WAS A PINK LIZARD TAIL. So, another hour or so passes, and at lunch... All literal heck breaks loose. Some of the boys who insulted the tail sat with us at the table. One of them comes over and pulls on the tail before knocking it into the chair I was sitting in. This tail is NOT very floppy at all. I take it off to assess the damage. There are two small holes on the same seam of hotglue. I try to fix it and the hole gets bigger. Long story short, DON'T TOUCH MY TAIL UNLESS I GIVE YOU PERMISSION. Edit: I told the teacher and she said the boys were making fun of the tail because they were jealous because it was creative and original. I also tried telling the boys this was my FIRST EVER TAIL but they said it didn't matter.
another great video ^^ i do enjoy your informative and light-hearted take on both the pros and cons of the fandom. not sure if and how you take suggestions for topics to make videos on, but I figure it can't hurt to ask ^^ have you done a video on proper livestream etiquette? i know a lot of furries who stream art or gaming sessions that would be a help to. if you haven't made a video for this, perhaps something to potentially consider? Either way, keep up the wonderful work, i look forward to seeing more from you in the future ^^

1: yikes man (or girl, not assuming genders here)...
2: is English your native language because there were quite a few grammatical errors in there.😅
Guys, please don't touch fursuit props/cosplay props, literally any plush or thing.
Thanks
Pocari Roo is officially my favorite Furry TH-camr!

Favourite youtuber period! ^^
Josh Peck 555 same here! Their motivation inspired me to make my suit! It’s still in progress tho :,)

Forlorn79 hey! Same here!

hope you're having fun over there!
- A Pennsylvanian That Loves Anthrocon And London Along With England
I live in New England.
Something that you didn't mention that I think would be good in a sequel if you make one, is you could talk about young furs at cons
I was at my first con a while back and people there were actually really nice and mostly respectful. Except for this one dutchie that actually legitimately made me so uncomfortable I went behind my freind, not even cute playing around "oh I'm shy and trying to be cute" no I legitimately was like " this person is scaring me please protect me."
Basically, Me and my freinds were just walking around the con and the fursuiter kind of stopped looked at me, came at me with the whole "curious" act and when I backed up they kept following me and squeaking at me.
You're the best furry youtuber ever, i always watch your video's while drawing 💕
Edit: ty for the heart! :3
I watched this while drawing too! xD
Great video Pocari! You are awesome!
I am a furry too.
no one
me: - holds my breath the entire intro bc i have no idea how Pocari stays in that little bottle for so log without drowning -
Hi Pixel, I'm glad you didn't make any trouble for Pocari (though it would be funny to see)
yeah just to see a cat bat at her ear and pocari dosent notice
OH MY GOD !! OH MY GOD !! My fanart is on the wall Thank Youuuu!!!💙
*Pocari talks about not going to an 18+ con when you're under 18*
Me: That's absolutely no problem, I'd never go to an 18+ convention anyways.
Wait...
*Checks drivers license*
I'm 20.
Its good to hear most of the don't are just common courtesy things! I'm pretty anxious about things like this and have a hard time picking up social cues in most spaces, I'm so excited for when I can first go to a con!!
This video was actually really helpful because of the fact that my first furry convention is in may so im really glad you made this! :D
Outbreak Evergreen My first is this weekend!
Chibi Okamiko same here! Im going to furlandia :0
I hope you have as much fun as I think I will have! (Mine’s AnthrOhio).

I thought the same thing.
i am afraid to search up what that is. please explain

"Respect your Senpai" *sAmE*
me: goes to con with pneumonia
the plauge inc player watching his infected count go up:where in the end game now
Mild PTSD just from being hugged or touched without knowing the person, but in a suit I'll give hugs if they ask consent!
Plush backpacks that have the pocket facing towards the wearer are great for keeping your valuables(phone, wallet, keys, etc.) safe at conventions or anywhere else you will find yourself in a large crowd. Plus they look really cute!
Here's another haiku since the other one went so well:
Things not do
At a furry convention
With Pocari Roo
No one is talking about that cat in the backround… SO CUTE!!!
You gave me the confidence to tell my mom I’m a furry and now she’s gonna help me get a fursuit commissioned!
Ok but i Mean if your not 18 you might outgrow it
A Random Idot ...
U better hope your mom's Jeff Bezos cus those are expensive af

BlueLeaf
How's it going? You still a furry?
@@tiktik6367 yo i dont even remember posting this 😭😭 guess i failed
Are you still a furry tho
@@tiktik6367 no
@@remy_fanwhat happened?
Thank you for the tips! Never been to a con,but helps to know some more things! ❤
Thanks for teaching me this! I'm attending the 2018 anthrocon in Pittsburgh pennsylvania and I'll remember your tips while at the con!
Sooo.. I think I've seen you around in name or art. Crazy.. always nice to see another roo!
If the con says you can with parent consent, then of course that's fine! Im more talking about disregarding the rules
Pocari Roo okay, cool ! I first need to tell my mother that I'm a furry tho ^^' Thanks for answering :D
Showering daily is just a thing you should do normally XD
Ahhh thank you for this! I especially appreciate the Consent for Contact point since I'll be having a suit soon and the contact scares me a little lol. I get quite anxious about touch, so I'm glad you mentioned that to your huge audience! Although the fact that it has to be said is also spooky lol
I was wearing a fur tail while watching this.
I'm in the making of my fursona head
Honestly if I ever saw you at a con is probably be super shy. If I had a friend or someone with me, they'd have to force me to say hi. If I had the courage of probably ask fira hug and thank you for all the furry and fursuit knowledge you gave me. I watch your videos all the time and love them
Pocari: “You don’t need a fur suit to go to a con” captions: “you don’t need a person to go to a corn”
A thing that's probably good to note; always approach a suiter from the front! We already have really poor vision from the head and if you have really bad anxiety, they won't appreciate a person just suddenly being there and it's worse if you touch them without them knowing
This is really useful! I just got my fur suit last week and I’m going to the upcoming anthrocon :)
Ver-gay cafe wait how
umm don't die
Very awesome video! I saw my art right above pocari’s head (bright pink circle background)

Watching your videos and seeing the little water bottle bubbly intro is keeping me properly hydrated all of a sudden. Thanks, Pocari! Haha.
quick don't! if you aren't a furry, don't like or is just hateful towards the fandom and see someone in suit , please do not say any rude comments, attack them or bother them! it's extremely rude and could end up in you getting arrested or harmed.
this is such great timing cus this is the day of my first con also love youer vids
I live in the US and I don't sleep so YAY Pocari
Ahah! Exact same! I've watch pocari every night
Ty for making this not only furry related but also working for non-furry cosplayers! :D
Her: I wouldn't even wish con crud on my worst enemies.
Me: huh? You have enemies?
this will be very helpful because I might be going to my first con this year! Awesome video as always!
In my subtitles when you said con staff it thought you said corn staff
The holy corn staff grants 5 of armor and makes 3-5 damage points per second, in a range of 2m It can also call an actual person to help you rather than wriggling the corn like a mage
Tbh I'm tempted to get a shirt for when I get a suit, that says on the back "Please ask before hugging me", to remind people that this is important.
"Camelback full of absinthe"
When she said that all I could think of while I'm still laughing was...It may be a good time to stop drinking when.
Any thoughts on mics in fur head? 🤔
Might be a future thing...
Aberguine of "Furries In The Media" pre-records her vocal tracks, then mimes to them on camera. She gets nice, clear recordings that way and her suit mouth doesn't move anyway.

Awesome vid plus Australia rules
I’ve been watching ur vids ever since i started being in the fandom!
It's 1 in the morning in Califorina
Chewy the Pine Marten It's 4 on the east coast
hellow fellow Californian ^-^
These were helpful and I'm a lot more prepared for Anthrocon. One more key point, if a fursuiter is getting hot and tired DON'T ASK FOR PICTURES. I've seen videos of fursuiters on their way to the headless lounge and people start asking for photos. If you're going to take pictures, don't do it when they're overheated and if you are overheating and someone asks to take pictures, don't be afraid to tell them NO, you're not mean for doing so!
I would love to go to a con but I don’t think they have them where I live
Thanks Pocari! I'm going to Furlandia this year and am excited to use these tips!
Me who’s had a long time to contemplate life: waiiiiiiiiiiit I’m a furry
hey, just wanted to say love your videos!
Is it just me or is pocari ssssssooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo damn cute?!

Thanks for the tips! This will help me out at my first con!
I just saw the cat in the background and it looks kinda like mine but I think mine is fluffier

Can't get con crud if there are no cons :c
I have stress issues in crowded places, and the nearest con to me that I wanna go to is MFF. However, I think it will be a good step to help me get better at socializing.
Ur so amazing Pocari!
Anyone else is seeing this in 2020
I commonly cosplay and understand the need to ask before photos.
5:49 thats...so...CUTE❤
OMG pocari, i watched this after i got back from my first furry con EVER... and i wached this and today i'm going back today!
are u aloud to go to a con as a 10 year old? i would love to meet some furrys its my dream
Should be find.
@Why ty!
another great video ^^ i do enjoy your informative and light-hearted take on both the pros and cons of the fandom. not sure if and how you take suggestions for topics to make videos on, but I figure it can't hurt to ask ^^ have you done a video on proper livestream etiquette? i know a lot of furries who stream art or gaming sessions that would be a help to. if you haven't made a video for this, perhaps something to potentially consider?
Either way, keep up the wonderful work, i look forward to seeing more from you in the future ^^
