- My first time in a modified MK5 Golf GTI, and it really makes me want to start doing some mods to mine! This car is running an R-Tech Stage 2+ map, which produces approximately 290bhp.

Same mate can’t wait I got a dsg one too had a manual before but always wanted to change never looking back dsg all the way stage 1 and dsg tune 1 plus I got cloth seats abs there heated just saying 🤗🤗🤗

I’m probably in the minority on this, but the MK5 is my favorite body style out of all the editions. I love the front end the best.

Mk 6 then Mk 7 and Mk 5 in order of favourites.
6,5,1,2,3,7,8,4 in that order for gtis. I don’t hate a single one though

Thanks for the GTI MkV content. Loving it. It's very warm down under, but grip on take off, even on dry roads can light up the traction control. I have continental MC 5. Tyres. No mods at all. And leather heated seats for Melbourne winter's. I have older bones now.

before any mods worth doing some maintenance to keep the engine healthy. Join the tfsi tuning facebook page some good information on there.
I would recommend, changing cam follower, checking pcv and dv and replace with newer revisions if needed, injector clean and walnut blast depending on milage, fresh service with 5w40 and ngk bkr7 plugs, new thermostat if needed(seems to be a common problem), new fuel filter, oil pickup clean, cambelt with waterpump and timing chain if needed. only worth doing coilpacks if your old ones pack up, not much difference between r8 and standard. Check dipstick for broken plastic as its common but can get a new one cheap. For getting the power down the superpro anti lift kit is good and the polybush dogbone mount insert.
Yeah defo do a content doing maintenance
I did some maintenance before mapping on this, still got some more to do.
List completed:
Revision G diverter valve.
5w40 Quantum oil.
New PCV valve.
New thermostat.
Oil sump cleaned and oil pick up pipe.
New dipstick.
New cam follower when doing the new fuel HPFP.
And a good full service.
Endless 🙉

I had a stage 1 310bhp edition 30 before my m140i, it was a fun car. The power with the k04 was at the top end. The revo induction kit is the best one you can get for these cars.
Looking at possibly getting a Mk5 as my daily runaround too. Stop tempting me!! ;)

Stage 1 ECU + stage 2 DSG and for MK6 R+ Haldex Comp Controller + Tune. best base tune for a daily driver. before any boltons added.
And now it has a 9" pumkin android 10 unit recommended by myself 👌
I need colour coded bumpers and skirts on my red MK5 so bad. You guys definitely need r32 taillights though 👌

can I ask what intercooler he had ? little note most people mod and update their car but seem to forget about upgrading the Brakes !
And forget about maintaining the car before hand aswell.
Had to upgrade diverter valve to revision G.
5w40 quantum oil.
Cam follower replaced.
New thermostat.
Think there was more cant remember 🙉

The edition 30 makes 300bhp of a stage 1 tune which is insane.
I love my mk5 stage 1, with a milltek 3 inch cat back exhaust and a oversized ramair induction kit
Rtec tuned Cupra k1 stage 2 here.. just over 350lbft & 346Hp the map is so much better in every way then the previous Superchips map.
Go ko4 2 plus and your be around 370+hp and 380-400 lbfts 12 sec car.100-200 sub 9 sec.
Golf mark 5 such a timeless cars especially gti and r32, great cars even I would consider they are the best of all lineup of golfs
The rear bumper, front lip and side skirts were colour coded at some point, MK5 Golf GTI's are not like that from factory.
The Edition 30 was.

Ive had 4 of these GTI’s brilliant cars but stage 2+ is allot of work for the power gains. My mk6 GtI made 280bhp and 350ft at Rtec on a stage 1

If you're going to modify stick to a DSG.
Uprated clutch kits are around £900🙄
Mate im chuffed for you but I have to say I'm not sure about your power figures there bud , pushing out hp of the new GTi TCR with the is38 turbo and producing the same torque as an M5 BMW , all from a ko3 turbo and intercooler change 🤔 I'm not sure they've told you right , the other mods you have R8 coils add no horsepower nor do the plugs and the intake will give you 10 to 15 hp at the very best , high pressure fuel pump will help , but mate starting at 198 hp wow that's some result your claiming , exhausts add next to no hp just noise too , but go on bud anyway your nice guy I can see all the best to you
Dyno figures don't lie mate. Been to several dyno days after this and producing same figures each time ✌🏼
Wouldn’t it be cheaper for you to have one car and run a brand new M2 Comp on a two year deal 20k miles a year ? Instead of two cars ?
