This is the third repair vid of yours I have viewed. Commentary is clear and informative, photography is excellent considering the difficult angles. Fine work!
I can’t explain how much I appreciate your videos.. I bought a zj that needed a lot of work and I didn’t know hardly anything about mechanical work at the time. Your videos are by far the best, and your camera angles and straight forward instructions make it super easy to follow along. I have had so much fun learning how to work on this zj and taking it on joy rides in the woods has been an absolute pleasure. Thanks again, keep up the good work🤘🏼
Dude, I search something... On the tube... Why do I waste my time by not coming here first? You are a BAMF. I have your channel saved, some videos saved, and I reference YOUR channel and video s a LOT. Thank you for making these. You have the gift, and a way with words. You just get it man. No bs stuff lol. This is what we need! Thank you. For real!
After watching this video several times, I purchased the starter from Amazon and did a dry test run. The nuts all came off easily and the next day I completed the repair in approximately 90 minutes. Taking off the front wheel and using car stands were critical as was the extensions of at least 20 inches. Otherwise I used a regular socket wrench and didn't need pneumatics. Thank you Barricade Garage - onto the headlamps.
Those 318s have a very unique startup sound. I had a 93 Jeep grand Cherokee with a 318 for many years so i recognize that startup sound from a mile away.
No crank even on new batt (no fast clicking and such, just relay clicked and didn’t start). starts were tough, but it still managed to crank, now dead. Highly Informative and quick vid, I like it very much.
Your videos always help and you break it down in a really simple straightforward way. Just bought a 2000 es 300 with 200k wondering if you could do a video on timing belt changes keep the videos coming bro👍
#Salute for another one great video. I took my rebuilt PCM off and put the original one back on thinking that would fix it, but it didn't. All I get is the click. New starter it is. Oh, I did check the relays too.
You!! Very help full video. ! I have same jeep 5.2l my favorite rite at all. This jeep just keep running. Quick question. Is that possible the starter cause to make my jeep get possed by electrical Bodoo? Starter makes a click sound but sent everything to short circuit. So my issue is a bad starter o open chassis ground? What are you thing?
247k miles and 20 plus years with oil soaked case and it finally went ! Not bad mine went at 286k on the 98 but I could hit it with a hammer and drive for a few more weeks so it became a game for a while 😂
Mine went at 167k on my 90 wrangler. The replacement reman lasted 12 miles before it just about caught fire when it wouldn’t release and started to melt down. Always buy a NEW one if you can. Enter rockauto.com.
Lmao that oil filter location is the worst, I’ve replaced my starter twice cus of that and it always smokes like a mf after an oil change since the filter is right over the down pipe
No No No on using the axle as a lifting point! One side at a time if you have to but that's not recommended unless you want a bent housing! Haven't watched the whole video yet but I'm sure it's going to be top quality and concise. Tried to sub recently but YT hates me and won't let me subscribe to any channels, so I just pass the info along to my other pro technician friends, so they can sub. Nice work on your channel bro!
Hahaha, I actually forgot what the stock starter cables look like. That dumbass rubber block. Good vid man, the other day when I replaced my rear main i put everything back together and couldn't remember the orientation of that stupid plate/bracket that holds the lines. I just tossed it in the glove box, now I know where it goes! Thanks bro!
Hey BG, just wondering if you have thought about doing the electric fan upgrade on your ZJ 5.2. I recently replaced the fan clutch on my 94 but it seems to put a lot of drag on the engine and really roars alot not to mention poor mileage. I'm using the standard duty clutch. Thanks.

What if the battery is good and terminals as well as the alternator but it makes no clicking noise whatsoever? Just dead flat when the key is turned...
Hey BG, another awesome vid. I have a request for a video. You think you could show how to remove and then reinstall the front bumper? When I bought my 97, it came with it already off
Its a simple task if the jerp doesnt have any front end damage. I think Project Dan H already has a video on that you should head over to his channel and check it out
Question for you. I was driving and my car just cut off on me on the highway. I felt like a jerk or something then the car just died. I go to try and start it but I won't start anymore. When I try to start it it doesn't sound the same from when it was starting. Any ideas on what's going on?
A bad alternator will do that but it could also be a crank sensor, weak fuel pump, etc,. Make sure battery terminals are cleaned and making contact with post and check fuel pressure
@@barricadegarage5361 Someone else told me a crank sensor, buy I didn't notice any symptoms of it going out. I got fuel to shoot out the fuel rail. I'm not sure if it's the alternator, my battery still got a charge.
Hey brother your videos are the best iv seen. I have a question. I need to change out my rear main seal. Do i need to push back my transmission? Some one was telling me that. But right now my starter started clicking so i just wanted to see if there was any bs before taking it out but its simple that way you shown it. But i was thinking to do my rear main seal since im going to be right there i already have the gasket but i just wasn't sure about it.
LAST COMMENT. I promise. How is that starter holding up? I am cheap, and hope this Crown brand starter is worth lol. I always second guess myself before buying. Its been a year since you put it in, how's it holding up?
Hey I know this video is kinda old but I’m stumped idk what to start with I was driving and volts jumped to 19v on the highway I stopped to get gas vehicle didn’t start right away so I bought a battery I got it to turn over after 4 seconds of holding it over that was three days ago but now it takes even longer every day and it makes the clicking noise a lot could it be my alternator or starter
One day I'm going to come to your channel, and you WILL hit 100,000 subscribers like overnight!! EXCELLENT REPAIR VIDEOS!!!

A piece of paper, or a piece of a paper towel (lay it across opening of socket, jam bolt in), can be used to jam a nut/bolt into socket so you can use the extension setup to get the bolt/nut started when gettin the man hands in is a pain. Lol the exhaust bracket isn't useless, it transfers unnecessary heat to a starter that is adversely effected from heat. Edit: silly me, I see paper! Youda man
