Join me in my Solo Trip to North Sikkim.
Today I am taking you all to an exhilarating trip to Gurudongmar Lake, Kala Patthar and Chopta Valley. The journey from Lachen to Gurudongmar Lake is a breathtaking adventure through the picturesque landscapes of North Sikkim.
Gurudongmar Lake is a majestic lake, situated at an awe-inspiring altitude of around 17,800 ft. The lake is considered sacred by both Buddhist and Sikhs, captivates visitors with its crystal clear waters reflecting the surrounding snow capped mountains.
The Most important points to keep in mind before you embark on this journey are :-
1) Gurudongmar Lake is at an altitude of 17,800 ft ( 5,430 mts), so acclimatise well before this trip and do consult doc for Diamox medicine.
2) Do keep a portable oxygen cylinder handy.
3) Be mindful about the time. Start as early as 5.30/ 6.00 am as weather starts getting bad after 2 pm.
4) Due to lack of oxygen do not stay for more than 20 minutes at the lake.
5) You need permits to go to Lachen and to all the points. Get them from Gangtok, before you start the journey.
