Tso Lhamo lake or Chho Lhamo or Cholamu lake or Cholamoo lake is one of the highest lakes in the world, located at an altitude of 5,330 m. It is situated in North Sikkim, India, only some 4 kilometres southwest of the Chinese border.
Gurudongmar Lake, is one of the highest lakes in the world, located at an altitude of 17,800 ft in the Indian state of Sikkim. It is a lake which is considered sacred by both Buddhists and Sikhs.
The ride to Cholamu and Gurudongmar lake was done by me on my All india ride 29 states + Bhutan and Mayanmar.
Both the Cholamu and Gurudongmar lake visit was really mesmerising.

Never-seen-before journey to this pristine lake. I'm amazed and planning to go there by last week of September, 2017. Please help me on the process of getting Permit to go to Cholamu Lake. No tour operator at Sikkim is able to do that, even Sikkim Tourism Dept also refused by saying that Cholamu Lake is not a tourist destination !!! Have you gone there in May'17? Is it possible to take a scorpio/innova over there?

Hi, I tried many times to get some info about cholamu, even when I was there in gurudonmer I asked our cab driver to take us in that lake with any extra I was ready to pay 😀. He simply refused saying that is off limits for civilians. May I know a bit detail about how you got the permit? Also heard that this is only given to bikers and its owner. No extra person allowed with a bike. And cars are not allowed to take that cholamu road. Any information on that?

tridibiker now cholamu lake is close for tourists, you can get permit for gurudamgor from any hotels of Sikkim. Give them your documents and they will arrange everything.
