Here are some must see places in Spiti Valley :
Key Monastery - The largest and most iconic monastery in Spiti, just 12 kms from Kaza. Perched on a hill overlooking the Spiti River, it offers breathtaking panoramic views of the Valley. If you want you can stay here also in their guest house paying nominal charges.
Kibber Village - One of the highest inhabited villages in the world, known for its wildlife (snow leopard) and scenic beauty. If you want to stay here, they have few home stay options as well.
Pin Valley - A paradise for wildlife enthusiasts, this valley is home to snow leopards, Ibex and other rare species. It also offers some excellent trekking routes. Unfortunately we couldn't see this valley as there was a landslide on the way. Maybe next time.
Langza Village - Langza is a picturesque village offering magnificent view of Chai Chai Kang Nilda peak. It also features a giant Buddha statue overlooking the Valley. I stayed here for a night at Lara Homestay with his family. If you want to experience local village life , you can come here and stay for a day or two.
Komik Village - The highest village in the world connected by a motorable road. Komik offers an unmatched experience of life at high altitude, with ancient monastery and serene landscape.
Hikkim Village - Home to the World's highest post office, Hikkim is a tiny, remote village where you can send post cards from one of the most isolated locations on the planet.
Chicham Bridge - It is the highest suspension bridge in Asia, situated at an altitude of 13,500 ft. It connects the villages of Chichi ans jibber, spanning over a deep 1000 ft gorge called Samba Lamba Nallah, a tributary of the Spiti River. It is a must see for its scenic views and engineering marvel.
Hotels I stayed in
1) Escape Inn - Won't recommend.
Instead stay at Hotel Deyzor. It is the best hotel in Spiti.
2) Lara's Homestay - Tariff - Rs 4000/- with breakfast and Dinner. Highly recommend if you want to experience local life. This is in Langza village. Highly recommend for Stargazing too.
