    Whether he whistled to her or not, Carolyn Bryant shouldn't had lied about Emmett Till that got him killed. I hated that Roy Bryant and J.W Miliam were found not guilty for murdering Emmett Till even though they deceased as well. Carolyn Bryant is going to reap what she sow.

      She lied because she wasn't receiving any attention from her husband so she lied to make him jealous but both men died of cancer and Bryant was legally blind so God said Vengeance Is Mine I Will Repay so both of those Racist clowns received Karma and Carolyn has cancer as we'll but I'm sure Emmett Till has haunted her for what happened to him

      You are correct, Emmett was never "dared" to speak to Carolyn Bryant or ask her for a date. However, according to the witnesses at the store that day, some of the boys were talking about girls, and one of them told Emmett that there was "a pretty white lady" inside and he should go look at her. That was the gist of the conversation.

    Emmett's cousin Simeon said Emmett didn't say anything to Carolyn Bryant. He bought his bubble gum and they left the store together. No one dared him to do anything. He whistled. There has been a lot of misinformation over the years. Simeon Wright wrote his account to set the record straight. He was the only one in the store with Emmett and Carolyn and he was in the bed with Emmett when he was abducted. His book is called Simeon's Story: An Eyewitness Account of the Kidnapping of Emmett Till. There were no white girlfriends or pictures of white girls in a wallet. Emmett attended a segregated school in Chicago.

      I read a book entitled:
      Emmett Till: The Murder That Shocked the World and Propelled the Civil Rights Movement.
      The author heavily researched the facts of everything that happened, including getting statements from Bryant and Milam about what really happened that night. With that being said:
      Witnesses at the store said that a couple of boys were joking around about girls, and suggested that Emmett go inside the store to see Carolyn Bryant. He went in. According to the kids at the store, Emmett placed his money in Carolyn Bryant's hand and not on the counter as was customary for blacks dealing with whites. For roughly a minute, Emmett was in the store alone with Carolyn. What he may have said, if anything, is known only to Carolyn. Maurice sent Simeon to stand at the door and wait for Emmett, but he was not at the door the entire time that Emmett was in the store! Some of the witnesses also said they remembered Emmett saying, "goodbye" or "good day" but he didn't say "ma'am." Some of the kids thought that Carolyn Bryant started coming out of the store to yell at Emmett for not addressing her properly, and that is when he whistled.
      What did Emmett do or say in that one minute alone in the store to Carolyn Bryant?? It's impossible to know for sure. What we do know is that he was not in the store long enough to grab her hand, chase her around the counter and grab her by the waist. That absolutely did not happen!!

    It’s been confirmed that he had no wallet with a white girlfriend, he never touched her or even spoke to her(she would later admit she lied in 2008) The guys didn’t dare him either. From his cousins and others in the store with him. They said he whistled in the store and whistled outside. He was known to do this to help with his stutter. So no one truly knows but Emmett if he was whistling at her.
    So a whistle? Led to her pulling out a gun And then was murdered beyond recognition by those evil people who are now in hell.
    Final verdict, the boy whistled twice and the woman was racist and felt “threatened” because there were black men at the store hanging out and she went and told her bastard husband a lie that one of them assaulted her because she was offended by whistling.

    • @rucianapollard7098
      @rucianapollard7098 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      Let me help you out a little bit:
      Emmet's mother said that his wallet came with a picture of the actress, Hedy Lamar, so there was a picture of a white girl in his wallet, although it wasn't someone he knew.
      According to at least 2 witnesses, some boys told Emmett that there was a "pretty white lady" in the store and he should go look at her. None of the boys "dared" him to say anything to Carolyn, just go look at her.
      According to witness, Ruthie Mae Crawford, when Emmett paid for his candy, he placed the money in Carolyn Bryant's hand and not on the counter as was customary for blacks dealing with whites. She jerked her hand away, so that was the only encounter she had with him.
      Some of the witnesses said that when Emmett left the store he said, "goodbye," or "good day." He did not say "ma'am" which was a sign of disrespect. This is when Carolyn Bryant started coming out of the store. Some of the kids thought she was going to yell at Emmett for not addressing her properly. That is when he whistled! All of the kids at the store that day, including Emmet's cousins, ALL said that he did whistle at Carolyn Bryant! He did not whistle in the store, he only did it once, outside of the store.
      Emmett was just joking around, he had no idea that the whistle was a death sentence!

    I'm reading The Blood Of Emmet Till at this moment and I'm on chapter 3. He was aware of racism in Chicago according to that book. He went to a segregated school and there had been violent riots over housing desegregation close to where he lived in Chicago. The worst example happened from August 1953 to fall of 1955 and involved a family name Howard that moved into all white apartment building. I had trouble believing he was not aware of the risks of the time. The book says Carolyn Bryant said the part about him grabbing her and talking dirty to her was not true. Its a very fascinating story. Based on what I knew of that period, I knew he must have been aware of risks and he must have seen racism even in Chicago. A very sad story.

    • @rucianapollard7098
      @rucianapollard7098 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      In 1953 when the Howards tried integration, Emmett was only 12. Kids that age aren't concerned about the world around them! They care about kids stuff, not grown up stuff, so he really didn't understand how violent things were in the south. In the part of Chicago that Emmett lived, they were rarely around white people, so they didn't have to learn the "rules" of interacting with whites.
      The most accurate book about Emmett and the events that changed American culture, read:
      Emmett Till: The Murder That Shocked the World and Propelled the Civil Rights Movement.
      This book is well researched, it goes into details about Emmet's abductions and murder. It quotes conversions from Milam and Bryant where they tell the accurate story of what happened that night, not the bogus story in "Look" magazine.

      There was racial divide in Chicago but coming from a city to a small town in the Deep South was very different. Of course he was killed because he was black. His murderers even said they killed him because they wanted to keep black folks in their place. In their words “it was about sending a message” because they felt like black people were becoming “uppity” and stepping out of their place which is to be “below a white man”. It’s because of this horrific event that the civil rights movement took off. Although the jury found the two murders not guilty, they admitted in an interview that they killed Emmet, and unknown to them, they were being secretly recorded while they were discussing the gruesome details about how they did it. Due to these two things all the support these men initially got was cut off immediately, black people who worked for them quit immediately, their grocery store was boycotted and went out of business shortly after, and both murders were publicly shamed. Carolyn has yet to receive the same level of public justice, but she has stated that she knew what she did was wrong, and that Emmet didn’t deserve what happened to him. It’s just a shame that she also tries to make herself sound like a victim when she’s the reason why Emmet lost his life.

Originally I thought he probably said something to her as a joke and to show off in front of his friends. Now I'm not so sure. But regardless of what he said, he never deserved what they did to him. I think its a little bit justice the store went out of business because the black people boycotted it after the trial. Its a little bit more justice that they removed a Confederate statue and put a statue of Emmet Till where it used it to be. If they did not take teaching the history of racism out of schools we would not have to worry about you sourcing a exaggerated scripted scene created 67 years after the actual incident. DO YOUR RESEARCH thats not fair to your black students. Your about to open up a discussion so you can victim shame your black student ancestors and to tell them not to make the same mistakes when that’s not even the important lesson to learn from this matter. Non black people never seem to focus on the truth and accuracy when it comes to our history and the current day repeat of injustices. non black people subconsciously have a preconceived notion about black people and they automatically assume things and run with a narrative or prospective and feel as tho it’s justified because of their logic, even when there is documented and undocumented proof,evidence, and witnesses.

      Unfortunately no one knows the real details because several people who were involved have given different accounts, including Carolyn. One account said Emmet whistled out of habit while shopping for candy because it helped with his stutter, but Carolyn thought he was wolf whistling her and took offense, another account said Emmet showed Carolyn a picture of a white girl from his class and said that’s his girlfriend which also offended Carolyn, another account said his cousins dared him to talk to Carolyn because they thought it’d be funny, and another account said Emmet corner Carolyn and touched her, so she reached for her gun and scared Emmet off. I wish we could know the real story, but regardless of what the real story is, Emmet didn’t deserve what happened to him.

      Emmet's mother DID teach him to slow down and whistle when he stuttered and got caught on a word. However, that's not what he did.
      Emmett never showed Carolyn Bryant anything, let alone a picture of a white girl. Besides, the picture in the wallet came with it and it was a pic of actress, Hedy Lamar.
      Emmet's cousins or no one else "dared" him to whistle at or have any contact with her in any way!! These kids were from the south and they knew that flirting with a white woman was a death sentence!! It would not be funny to them at ALL!
      Finally, Emmett never touched Carolyn Bryant!! His cousin Simeon was at the door waiting for him to pay for his candy and they left together. The only contact he had with her was when he paid for his candy, he placed the money in Carolyn Bryant's hand and not on the counter as was customary for blacks dealing with whites.
      All of the kids at the store that day, including Emmet's cousins, ALL said that he did whistle at Carolyn Bryant. It was not him whistling to correct his stutter, it was a wolf whistle

    She didn't lie. Timothy Tyson who is a white professor from North Carolina who has based his entire life on the civil rights movement claimed she did because he wanted to sell his book. Before his book was released he said he had it on recording. The FBI got involved and interviewed him because they wanted the recording because they thought it could show she lied on the stand. But they later came out and said no such recording existed. Just to be sure the FBI interviewed Carolyn Bryant one last time in 2020 and she kept with her story that Emmett Till had grabbed her wrist and made extreme sexual remarks to her and she tried to make him let go but he ultimately kept squeezing her wrist. It's not a surprise. Considering Emmett Tills father was a convicted serial killer who was hanged for the rape and murder of 3 Italian Women while stationed there in WW2. She gave several interviews after that and she always kept to her story of him sexually harassing her. The guy who claimed she lied just wanted some good PR for his book. Also, my friend lived down the street from her in the years before she died and interviewed her for a college paper and she told the same exact story. Kid didn't deserve to die, but you don't go around harassing people's wives. Emmett Till isn't the sweet little angle baby they say he is.
